I have a CX9 and love it. It has been the most reliable vehicle out of the thirty vehicles we've owned in the household over the years. We've had an Audi, BMW's, MBZ's, Acura, Lincoln, Honda and a few Toyota's and the CX9 in my opinion has topped them all. I'm looking forward to the CX90.

We have a '22 CX5 and I don't mind the lack of touch screen. The controller does what I need it to do and you do get used to it. I agree that the 2.5 engine which I believe is at least similar in the CX-5 and the PHEV CX90 can be buzzy. Our CX5 handles way better than it should. I'm more interested in the CX70 but the CX90 looks nice and glad to hear it drives like a Mazda.

My #1 absolute favorite thing about my older CX-9 Signature was the ability to run Regular Unleaded gas with NO PENATLTY in torque rating (310 lb-ft of torque on either premuim OR regular). So now Mazda has totally impressed with the same option to the owner in the Turbo S... premium gets you 340hp, 369tq...Regular Unleaded gets you 319hp, 369tq. This is a HUGE PLUS for owners. The minus 20hp is ONLY going to become apparent above 100mph and you tell me how many people drive their 7pax SUV that way? Torque gets you up to 60mph...horsepower gets your from 80mph - 100mph. I will be smiling every time I fill up on Regular (for $1.20 LESS per gallon) in my new CX-90 Turbo S PP...ya hoo.

Fair criticism but as far as electric mode, I don't think this was intended to have a lot of power boost in ev mode. In the end its a plug-in so expectations have to be reasonable.
I do think pressing hard on the pedal which then engages the gas is a fantastic way to do it.
Instead of fiddling with buttons to disengage ev mode you just put your foot all the way down and all the power (gas and electric) is available immediately.

My two biggest disappointments are that the number of seat options are only available on the lower trims, and that the PHEV doesn't have the top trim options of the S.
I want more options if I pay more money, not less. I also think you should be able to pay for all the luxury offerings, such as ventilated back seats, on the PHEV.
This car is still probably my top pick right now for SUVs in this segment.

The one area the press seems to attack is the lack of a touch screen on Mazda's. There is hard science to why they chose NOT to have a touch screen. Many studies have been done that show when a driver attempts to use the touch feature they tend to move out of their lanes and it can become a safety issue. Remember you drive where you look, so taking your eyes off the road to manipulate the screen can cause you to veer right. So in the interest of safety they decided to remove that feature. After using the wheel to make the adjustments you will see it becomes second nature and easy to move around and get to most of the things easily. Just takes a bit or practice sitting in the driveway to see how it works, and it works very well.

Went test driving 3 row SUV’s today. Started with Mazda CX90. Good drive, average third row but nice amenities in it, average pickup, excellent gas mileage, average road noise. May consider electric. Next Lincoln Aviator. Powerful, comfortable, third row is average, lots of amenities, like driving a boat, average gas mileage, average road noise (surprising). Buick Enclave was a good boring SUV. It had a good 3rd row. I laughed when the drive modes were normal and towing. No excite mode here. Somewhat good power. Clean? Lincoln and Buick is also available used and there haven’t been many changes going back to even 2019. Last vehicle we saw but were unable to drive was the Volkswagen Atlas. Simple interior. Very, very, very nice third row. Heard the engine is lackluster but will have to try it out.

It doesn't matter to me how quickly the engine can re-engage. I don't care how advanced this tech is. Just as I will never buy a vehicle with non-defeatable cylinder deactivation, this Mazda will never make my list of potential purchases. This includes the 2023-24 BMWs. I own a 2018 X3 M40i. It appears that this will be the last vehicle I will ever own, unfortunately. It seems only the Koreans are building fun vehicles which do not need interfering electronic equipment I didn't ask for, and don't want. I won't buy EVs either. I can't work on them in my garage. touch inputs are enabled with apple carplay/android auto, but a non-touch interface has nothing to do with whether or not a system is dated, especially when it’s an intentional thing. touch screens in cars are 💯 form over function anyway, considering they don’t really add much functionality.
