Already talked to LGS to get my copy. I'm absolutely pre-ordering. I love the supplements to MAKE your own adventures. You can't please everyone with premade modules, so it's awesome to make them put up or shut up by creating their own stuff.
So Stoked to see this product. I love how Todd can get the writers and creators to open up about their passions/work. I believe this is going to be a memorable book. I only hope I can get the signatures of the people who wrote/created this for my copy. [QUEST UNLOCKED: Gather The Signatures]
Okay the origions of the deck is really the most D&D thing I've heard in a while xD Only the name, the type and where it showed up were the same but nothing else xD
As an autistic, I welcome Makenzie's voice with open arms. I was worried when it was first revealed by Chris first time that Asteria is autistic but Makenzie brings welcome relief
@DNDWizards It's kind of strange to hear all the love from Chris and Todd when there was a great opportunity to add them as playable races in the Planescape set that came out (and Bariaur and Musteval characters too). Unless there's going to be an upcoming release with lots of new character races? But grumbles about clearly missing content aside I will be picking this up. It looks amazing and looks to make a very stale item that no one wants to touch into a new and fresh item (including how to 'fix' the bad stuff if/when it might happen).
This origin story for the most mysterious and chaotic magic item feels a bit bland... it always felt more like something to punish greed and hubris, not to help people. In my headcannon it was something craft by a powerfull Devil, or too old to have a known creator. But well, every DM can flavor it how he likes, and it's nice to have some new lore, after they decided to publish almost no lore in monster manuals.
I’m intrigued as to how an autistic character will be (can be?) represented. This is the one product I’ve been looking forward to since it was announced. Perfect timing for a Christmas present 😊
Y’all realize this is kinda feeding into the trope of writing an aspect of themselves into a character in a fictional universe just to feel validated in real life, right? That’s kinda leaning towards narcissism on the extreme end and could be misconstrued as pandering to a demographic also. I can understand making a new character with whatever facets you wish in, say, your own personal D&D game but changing established canon to fit your own personal narrative could be problematic and is emblematic of what trope I was referring to in the beginning of this comment. Other than that, artwork looks beautiful and the novelty of this coming out as a bundle (book + cards) is an interesting idea and I’d like to see where you will expand on this business decision in the future
Counterpoint it is better to have a writer with a lived experience write about a topic than someone who is not. Especially considering most tropes around autism is how many robot characters are the closest thing to autistic representations in fiction.
@@ak318 that’s why professional writers research things so intently (and often from people in the know), because they want to get the details so critically important to the subject matter and do it justice. Implementing something you are so intimately familiar with isn’t portrayal for the sake of good writing, it’s projecting because you lack the ability to write about anything else.
@nickmorgan3199 So to be clear you are saying an autistic writer should never write about autistic characters or that a woman writer should never write a story from the pov of a woman, asian people should not be writing the asian characters for the asian setting books etc Also you say professional writers research as noted in the above tropes we have tried waiting for professional writers to write well about the topic they havent lived in. The problem is they don't write those characters well they just lean on stereotypes and lazy writing.
Not to bandwagon here, I think the way it’s not the same as narcissistic is because the person only wrote about their traits/characteristics. While we may define them as those, those things aren’t the entirety of a person. If done properly they convey relatability, rather than define singularity; little bit different than you’re thinking [OP].
That’s really cool they’re making a whole book just for it. I love when small interesting little facets get expanded and played with a lot.
Nice to see an official Dungeons And Dragons video where someone mentions original D&D which came before 1st Edition AD&D.

This sounds so cool!

I'm so hyped for this book. I wish i didn't have to wait until November.
It can disrupt a lot of games but it’s almost always memorable.
I'm genuinely so very excited about this book 🤩

The Deck is Many Things to Many People.
Mostly trouble but yes it is many things hence the name.
Hire me Chris Perkins 😢

Did WoTC redo the Medusa in general or just this NPC ?
My guess is the NPC is just an example of how gorgons can come in many forms.
my wallet is ready.
Why do you all keep saying Uriel instead of Eurayle?
