Brilliant song. I listen to this often when I am wanting to sustain positive energy while I paint and draw. Can't believe I never heard of this song until 2023. I didn't know who sang it and from the sound of it I imagined it was a south American band. Thankyou for making this song.
Im born in 1996 but i wish i spent my childhood in the 80's. This song gives me such a summervibe, i learned the lyrics when i was a 6 year old. I didnt even know english because i'm from Belgium. But my mom bought a dvd named 'hits from the 80's. And this was the only song that i loved from the bottom of my heart!
Went to school with Owen in Glasgow, Scotland back in the mid 70s - great guy. Great footballer and ultimately hit fame with this catchy tune. Funny though, took me about 20 years to realise that Owen Paul was Owen McGee - the guy I went to school with. Wherever you are Owen, good to have known you and be happy.
Went to primary school with Owen in Glasgow. Great guy and great football player. His big brother was original drummer with Simple Minds. Good times and great memories.
Love what he did with the track but I think credit needs to be given to Marshall Crenshaw who wrote the original - this was a remake. / cover version but I think it was done justice. 😇
@@burpo crazy that this clown made it onto TOTP with this cover of a cover (it sounds more like Bette Midler’s version) while Marshall never really got the recognition he absolutely deserved
I saw him at Sodfest yesterday. I thought he was really good, put on a great show. I wasn't impressed that he didn't come over to me and let me sing in the audience participation thou, twice he went past me....oh well, maybe next time....lol!
I keep pet flies. They're freerange flies. I keep the windows open and let them come and go as they please. I have 5 at the moment. Tracy, Richard, Julie, Graham and Mister Wilson (he's the formal type). To be honest when they come back, I never know whether they're the same ones or a new batch. They all look the same to me.
Owen Paul is performing an Acoustic live Show tomorrow 24th August Pizza Express Maidstone kent.....For more information please see the official facebook page.

Great and photographic memories.
A song you can keep listening to constantly. Even on a down day, it makes you happy.
Better listening to the original with Marshall Crenshaw.
Wow nothing like the 80s :) they were awesome times!!
True. It really was. MTV Videos, Live Aid. Out of the 70's was a new version start with hope, compassion and togetherness.
1986......Great memories

It has been covered quite a bit and I just think no-one even comes close to the original recording MC made on a 4-track in his bedroom.

possibly the best pop song ever written.
Great track 👌... Love the miming 🤣🤣🤣
Aaaah them were the good times!
saw him in Blackpool last night! Did a great job and met fans for pics and autographs ☺

Love it Mr Scarfe, thinking of doing a Jazz version :)

A great cover of Marshall Crenshaw!
When you mic up a Mullet, this song plays
Song what brings me after chirurgie to live
Good episode of Rogue Traders lol
Is that a raincoat?
Before lip synching got exposed
Watch out for flying hams!
This is such a great song, but sounds way to much like Kajagoogoo, in fact I always thought it was them or Limahl.
He looks like a young David Cassidy.
he was just on rougue traders.... lol
one hit wonder..bette midler cover
Utterly tragic, a car crash from start to finish.
Dreadful audio quality.
the miming thing was cheezy and embarrassing to watch. shame. good tune though.
Who CARES , it's a good brilliant cover of a guy who had a thing for Help/ Rubber Soul/ Revolver : )
It was a TOTP thing to have the show like that
a latter day Ed Sheeran
Why would anyone want to cover a shit song like this? Especially if they are making it even worse!!
