This episode is one of the many where Lee is just on fire. He just gets on a roll with the Gap story and it's wonderful to watch. You should check out his keys clip, I believe it's Series 8 Episode 1!
In the few international flights I've taken (to and from US or Europe - I live in Brazil) the maps always showed the destination. In fact, they switched between three views - a close-up showing where you are, a zoomed-out version showing the path you've been since take-off and a birds-eye view showing the entire flight, including destination. I've never seen those on doestic flights, though, or in flights inside South America.
Same. Domestic flights I've been on in the US don't usually bother, especially to smaller airports, but the few international planes I've been on had a video in the headrest of the seat in front of you which included an option to see how far you are in your journey.
I don’t know if you no the comedian Sean Lock but he sadly past away today he was 58yr old I’m still in shock so sad 😞 Love 💕 from Denise in Yorkshire England 🏴😢🙏💔
When you see a guest has no story like what happened with Claudia that typically means it got filmed but didn't make the final edit. They always film more stories than they need so they can edit the episode. They always give each guest at least one chance to be the story teller, but don't guarantee they'll make the final cut. That's also why the team scores at the end don't seem to add up right - the score includes the cut material. When a bit is cut it's not always because it wasn't funny. Sometimes it's because it was *too good* in that it went long, everybody was laughing, and keeping it would require cutting too much good context out of it. That's why they have the "best bits* episodes at the end of the series. It's where they can fit the points they didn't want to have to trim down. You'll see a lot of Bob Mortimer in the compilation episodes because often his bit was too packed with weirdness to want to trim it down for an episode. Putting him in the compilation instead allows them to keep it longer than would be fair in a normal episode where his long bit would be preventing other people's bits from being seen.
@@NeilTalks The reason I mentioned how they work is that frequently I see people thinking the compilation episodes are intended as low effort B-roll filler like they would be in a typical American sitcom. They go "but why relegate this to the leftovers episode, this bit was great. What idiots edit these episodes and cut this out??". They don't get that in many UK panel shows the compilation episodes are planned from the very start and editors are always looking for compilation material as they go along editing the episodes of the series. When they encounter a good long bit that it's painful to have to strip down to episode size because that would ruin it, they know they have the compilation coming that it can fit into without having to ruin it by trimming it too much.
@@dunbar9finger One of the few US panel shows I know is "Wait, wait, don't tell me" on NPR and they had Simon Amstell on *once* and they described him as out of control because he was riffing away like crazy giving the editors options and breaking the format whereas the other panelists were just playing the game. I suspect the US approach is play the game and get it done whereas the UK approach is here is a framework to hang your comedy on and the producers will worry about the edit.
Just so you know, a taping lasts longer than the broadcasted show. They select the best stories for the broadcast and the rest is saved for a later collection. Hence Claudia was there, but had no story, it just wasn't selected for broadcast.
They are, and I treasure them. Straight brag here: they're signed and numbered too. Neil Gaiman is my absolute favourite author (closely followed by Sir Terry Pratchett) - can't wait for Season 2 of Good Omens, and the premiere of Sandman!
11:55 that dangling modifier couldn't possibly have been composed by David. The horse was taking the photo? Of course, the producers could change the phrasing to potentially annoy him and throw us off the scent.
Google London to San Jose and you get Air France flight 14hrs 55min and others at 14hrs 10min so she was correct in this and yes you do get a flight map on international flights on screen if you wish.
Only whether the initial thing they read out is the truth/lie matters. They can mislead with all other aspects to obscure which it actually is, so the 14½ hours shouldn't be looked on as necessarily something to judge by.
It's much easier to just assume that she misremembered the 14 hours. Also, I've definitely seen on flights them having a dotted line to the destination.
Or the flight made stops at other locations, that's completely normal. She wouldn't have explained that to the woman who brought it up because she's supposed to make the other team think the story is false.
@@NeilTalks Brits yes, Americans etc we're assuming a lot from a group who probably cant point out where Spain is, never mind popular beach resorts within it....
Most Canadians know pool, not snooker, and I still can't identify a single cricketer, rugby player, darts player or snookerer (that's what they're called, right? :D ) One day!
Thanks for the spellcheck - I hate when I get stuff like this wrong, so I genuinely appreciate it. As for your question - I sought out this episode expecting more Claudia Winkleman insanity, it turned out to have none of her stories, and instead was all about Sara. I have no further explanation than that. :)
tbh i dislike Claudia in WILTY ... Prob not a fair judgement, but there were a few times on ehre where the oother team guessed wrongly, not becaue she was a good liar but just because she refused to actually answer the quewstions she was being asked and jsut talked baout other stuff.

Sarah Pascoe's story is a classic. I wish there was more of her on this show!

They do an uncut version of WILTY which is released after the cut version. You may find Claudia was cut out, but her bit is in the uncut version.
Bill Werbeniuk was popular Canadian snooker player in the 1970's/80's who
was famous for the many pints of lager he drank while playing .......
I flew direct to San Jose, Costa Rica from the UK and it was about 11 hours so 14 hours must have a stop over.

I thought this episode that Claudia’s story about getting stuck in a cot. Must be in the unseen bits at the end of the series.

The 14hour flight is not 14 hours of flying time it, it is 7 hours in the air and 7 hours time difference.
I'm not sure if you have yet, but please react to the Big Narstie WILTY, series 12 episode 4 - utterly freakin' hilarious
Allow me to add it to the list... :)

Best reactions are those to the best liar on the show.. Claudia Winkleman.
Agreed! Be sure to check out my reactions to her episodes from previous seasons.
I love the idea of Sara Pascoe flying Ryanair. People who can afford to book accidental yoga retreats in Costa Rica don't fly Ryanair!

LHR to SJO is 17 hrs 33 mins
I know that winds make a difference, but 7 hours is surprising.
