I think the performance and CD sound are excellent.
Gramophone magazine didn't like it at all!
My only criticism is that, in the Sanctus, perhaps the solo violin could have been brought forward slightly.
The portrait is by John Singer Sargent, painted in 1889, about a year after
the first performance of the Requiem.
