Glencoe Scotland. The Black Trail terrifies me!

- Glencoe is a mountain bike park in the highlands of Scotland. It has a Red and a Black trail. I have done the black once before but really struggled to ride it. Will I find it any easier 5 years later.

Suddenly I felt happy and confident again. Mountain biking for me is about having fun with others.
Love Glencoe. The changes to the Red trail look fantastic. In winter, when the snow reaches the car park, there's a good ski line down the black trail. On the other side of the waterfall, the skiing there is really steep - an off-piste trail known as the Dark Side.
Never been in winter. I imagine it would be gnarly skiing down there.

Awesome video Lance really enjoyed it. Far out that first track far out that was very loose I thought far hopefully how Lance is going to be in a Hospital visit if these gets any worse. Then finally the tracks got better and very impressive to see you found someone to do some riding with he definitely made the video 😅. Keep up the amazing content Lance 😊
Yes John made the video and made my day. I enjoy riding with others much more than on my own. Would have loved to have followed someone down that Black. Probably wouldn't have stopped at all just followed the lines.

The red is still quite a challenging track. Glencoe is certainly no place for a beginner.

The black is brutal. It’s just a hack down…even on a dh bike. Fair play on a trail bike. The red was nicely groomed a few weeks ago but got pretty washed out recently in a race…great track now though!
When I watch the footage back it always looks so tame and I can't work out why I was so scared, The good thing about these tracks is they have a reputation so people know they are hard.

Been waiting for this one!! You’re not wrong about this being the stupid-est bike park track on the planet. It’s like they scraped some soil off the steepest mountainside they could find and declared it a DH track. 😱😆
That is a good description. Good for your skills, though. Never had a second run as met John but think would be a lot quicker after the first sighter.

Blacks not easy but it used to be a lot worse before they reworked it.
When did they rework it? I rode it in 2019 and I would say not one rock was different.

All those wooden walls with your name on them and you didn't hit one of them. Looking at the distance between the lift pylons and you see the base is higer than the one below you can see its steep. Whos this Heather in Scotland that you love?

Both the fort William and that bike hook look terrible, they really should invest in some better ones similar to the french.
As a uk resident i feel quite ashamed ive never ridden here whereas you have come half way around the world.
I worked out that I went on 37 different bike lifts on my trip and the two worst ones were sadly both in Scotland. If the Gondola was the same as the Super Morzine set up I probably could have ridden all day. Great tracks to ride though. Definitely worth the drive.
Both resorts seem to be trying with limited revenues from a few hit n miss ski seasons. Awesome tracks at both but FW in particular needs to sort its ‘close the gondola in the slightest breeze’ policy.
