      He's currently ranked 10th in the U.S. in the 400m. If he can make the finals of the trials, he will at least become a relay alternate. He can come out of his 1st Olympics with a gold metal. Not a bad start.

    I think he’s the modern day Cupid. Cherubic. I think he’s great at mixed relays. Maybe train for decathlon and 100m & 200m as relay alternate

    Boling’s Olympic dream is over. Finished 8th in the 400. Won’t be going to Paris. I’m so confused. Everyone said he was “so great” and “a lock for an Olympic medal.”

    Nothing happened to him. He's still a young pro athlete and has potential. He has already won gold medals on the US 4x400 and mixed relays which are not minor achievements.

      He tried the 100m, the 200m, and the 400m at the Olympic trial and came up short. He even let a 16 year old high school student dust him in the 400m. I don’t believe he’s going to keep trying to live up to the good old days. He doesn’t have what it takes to win at the professional level.

      @@MrRon1124 The 16 year old is beating almost everyone not just Bowling. Bowling has only been running pro for only three years and is running sub 45 in 400. That is not and easy accomplishments. He still has the potential to run a under 44s in the future if he stays healthy.

    What happened? Did beyond what most fair minded people thought he could do....also, i think he holds a mixed 4x400 WR as well.....thats not a bad career.....he probably wont dp much more than that unless he decides to try a different event like the decathalon as he has peeked in the sprints and 400m......not much upside for him left....😊

    I've been looking for him at the 2024 Olympics when they show track and field but haven't seen him. Did he not make the Olympics? Seems unbelievable that he wouldn't.

      @@kelleywhitehurst3180 That's a fair statement. All he really needs to do is learn how to do a decent pole vault. He would no doubt win the 100, 400, broadjump and possibly the hurdles in the decathlon. I bet he could do a decent 1500 as well.

      @@brianedwards7133 It is logical that it is what most do in college, you take a good high school athlete you hope you can mold into a good college athlete. Boling I considered to have exceptional form for a high school athlete and physically mature to boot so I didn't see WHERE he could be improved. He developed a lot of technical skills early (while he was still in high school) so I don't see where he was going to improve. My understanding was he was trained as a 100-200 sprinter in high school and having split sub 45, if he was going to be a top tier athlete, I would have got him started running it first day of college, but that's me.

      He is only the 7th athlete in history to break 10 in the 100, 20 in the 200 and 45 in the 400 and the only athlete to do those 3 and pass 27 ft in the long jump

    Matthew Boling peaked in High School. He never got on the right program to make it to the next level. You need people on the inside in Pro Track to do that. They simply don't want him in and it can't be done this day and age on natural ability alone.

    All that's happened to him is he hasn't improved from high school which ther was no reason to think he would, won ONE NCAA indoors and at best gets selected for relays but never finishing in the top 3 at a national championship. He had GREAT form as a high schooler, what was there to improve?

      @@markmcbride5900 Doesn't get him top 3 on a national team. He will get SELECTED for a relay spot, running the rounds of the mixed relay or if he is lucky the 4x4 but I don't see him making the 400 final at trials.

If he had any chance of being a world class athlete was in the 400 in my view assuming his real talent isn't the long jump. Given is performance this year, I think we've seen his best.
