I make my own white kimchi, and the juice is literal magic. It can be served with everything. I love it on tacos. Also, when you said, "I'm gonna put an egg on it." I blurted out, YES! Startling the dog, but not the cat, who is unmoved by excited outbursts.
I am giving a shout out on Carla's hair in this video, I love it, she's the moment in the limelight, and I look forward with more looks with gorgeous untied hair ❤
This is one of my fave recipes from Where Cooking Begins. I’ve made it dozens of times. Was hoping to some day see it on the channel. I’d love to see the lamb shoulder with beans and magic green sauce too :)
Thank you for leaving in the broken egg. I can’t tell you how many fried eggs I’ve cooked in my life and there’s always that ONE time I break an egg out of nowhere and am like “can I even cook” 😆😆
Hi Carla! I love your show and am subscribed. Could you do a show on just cooking grains? It's so healthy and winter is coming on. Would be a really great harvest season to get your input on this.
What She meant is that every cured pork product is fine, whatever you have in the fridge is ok (-also leftovers from a possible previous recipe you’ve done)
Old farro in the cupboard, old sad mushrooms in the fridge… the quality will not equal Carla’s, but I’m goin’ for it anyway 🤷♀️ Craggy, high heat roasted tofu will make it ok.
Love this recipe, but this is kimchi fried rice with barley subbed out. I understand the branding of your channel and love your recipes. We don't need to americanfy a food name that already exists... Call it what it is! As someone who makes this often, adding a tad bit of butter is amazing!
@@lindsaymartin6271 Hi there, How does this have anything to do with acting like an adult? I know I could remove the bacon, as I'm sure vegan and vegetarian viewers would figure it out as well. I was more acting for a non-pork alternative that she would suggest. How about minding your own business and not getting upset some random person on the internet left a comment that doesn't sit well with you. Toodaloo
@@marcellakilgarriff I was playing along with her initial "for my vegan and vegetarian friends", I'm sorry you all took it to be dramatic. In general, cooking shows and recipes often neglect the fact that not all people eat pork and at best just say to omit it. Simply thinking about kimchi makes me salivate 😛
Carla is giving me "Mama Mia" vibes in this video. Also, cutting kimchi in the jar with scissors is a very Korean move! 😄

I’ve liked adding some sugar to leftover kimchi juice used to make a glaze for fried spam
The egg edit was hilarious, that always happens to me too 😂

Carla, may I just say: you prepare such thoughtful and tasty food, very natural, simple & elegant. Thank you for sharing, chef 🌾
Wow. I love that kimichi brand. It’s always in my fridge.
This is such a Carla recipe, I love it! Can’t wait to try this ❤️

Ooh I love takes on bibimbap!
4:05 "If you really can't find kimchi..." Just make it yourself. It's easy enough to make, and you can customize it to be exactly what you want.
LOVE a grain bowl! I use this method to cook my farrow and other grains 😎
I can’t wait to try this out
Love the vegan options 😊
On the list for sure ❤
Omg my mouth is waddling watching you cook this dish. I am a cook also. This and chocolate chip cookies for dessert!
Hello Carla can’t wait to try this😊😋

I really need to try kimchi some time soon! Love this idea, I’ll just have to find something to use instead of the mushrooms.
What is this "left over pork chop" you mentioned - I have never seen one.
What She meant is that every cured pork product is fine, whatever you have in the fridge is ok (-also leftovers from a possible previous recipe you’ve done)
lol it's right next to the bottle of wine we couldn't finish!
Looks delicious!!!
i love your hair!
GRAIN GIRLIES UNITE
this is my favorite video intro 😂😂😂
CARLA WHERE IS THIS SPOON FROM PLEASE? the one you're using to taste test the barley to see if it's done yet
This is perfect timing as I just bought a ton of mushrooms from the local Asian grocer. Will be making this tonight!
What do you suggest I spin it with instead of mushrooms? I can't have em!
glued that egg down real good, I see you :)
OOFT! This looks great!
I might be terribly late to the party - because I usually am - but are there kimchi Reubens??
does anyone know what grain she uses here? :)
At 1:38 she mentions it's purple barley
mmmmmm PS so nice to see your pup's tail.... need more pet interaction :)
what're y'alls favorite grains to prepare this way?

Thank you! I wasn’t down with the line about bibimbap. If she had made the grains then placed the toppings on this would be different!
As a man, I will wear the title Grain Girly with a badge of honor
The auto captions started you off strong with "Hello migraine girlies." Too close to home here lol
Why do you look so beautiful in this video? Food looks yummy too.
2:35 What about your Kosher and Halal friends? 😥
Hi there,
I would suggest acting like an adult. Also you could remove the bacon.
Cheers

@@GaviLazan Asking what non-pork alternative she recommends is a great question but that's not how you worded it the first time.

This girlie was eating an egg with a broken yolk while watching.
Doggo cameo was distracting. Had to rewind to listen to Carla...lol😅
ily carla but this is literally the most complicated kimchi fried rice recipe
Seems like a lot of oil.
i wanna know about your nails! cute!
