This is a future of laptops, instead of dealing of 2 screws in round pin charging port, now we need to deal with a soldered 10 pin type-C port, that soldered like in a first year student project

Nice job, I usually use longer wires and solder them to further places like vias. This lowers the probability of breaking connections again

Charging via USB C is design to fail. I am using the same laptop model and was aware of this design fault from day one. For minimizing the risk of ripping the connector I am using an angled connector. It helps a lot as the leverage is much less than a straight connector. For me this works fine since years. I would advice this to all users of USB C charging ports.

You identify the problem well, Sorin. As soon as we begin a customer relationship, it's there ready to bite. I had a PS5 come back after 6 months of fixing the HDMI port. Of course, the fix should last longer and I've never had port come back so I take it back. Not able to say if was impacted again, but just reflowed it again no questions. Sales even worse, especially refurbished. Every problem the customer has (like not being able to look up stuff online) and another load of support messages come back.

I actually start by disconnecting the battery. Older laptops with batteries that pop off, its a quick way to tell if its the battery or not. its a bit of a hassle now that they are inside, but its often the first thing I try, then I check the power connector.

epoxy resin copper tape onto the board where the pads were, then you can solder the traces to the copper tape. it will be nearly as strong as new.

There is a limit to what repairs can be covered by warranty.Im not sure about the UK legislation but here (southern Europe), i never offer warranty on liquid damage repairs, mechanical damage and pad restoration, such as this broken port, hinge jobs(even though i never had any returns or complaints),normal broken charging ports, hdmi ports etc.Even on simple capacitor short circuits ,what warranty can you provide? After a month, something might break, like a PCH/cpu/gpu.Customer will never believe you if you tell him "ok warranty only on the replacement cap, this time your cpu is burned to a crisp."Customer doesnt know what is a cap or a PCH,customer knows only a dead or a working laptop. So no warranty /money back, only a free 90 day destimate on whatever similar issue.ofc normal warranty on ram memory dimms/ssd.

I think this USB port will fail soon ((. The plastic insert is moving inside the casing, that is the reason of the initial fault. The solution of this problem is to glue on the insert after soldering the broken tracks.

How i deal with this kind of problems
1 Open laptop and cheak inductors for short.
2nd cheak the power connector health,
3rd solder wire for v-charg in and power it with power supply ''enabling short protect and limit amps
4rth when it start i go back to usb if no i look for the problem maybe short or power key not working so look for 3.3v
If it power i should replace it with fresh new connector, if the connector is not availble i desolder it and try to renforce it with plier
Solder the connector and cheak for shorted pins
    Test the connector
    Apply solder mask
Apply epoxy glue and be aware from case and otherstuff emplacement, you may have excess of epoxy than the case will not get closed
Close the laptop and say we did great job better than factory

    First!
    ... to say anything negative?
Sorry Sorin, but you could clearly see that the plastic insert of the USB-C port was loose in its metal sheath, which was still firmly attatched. You did a good job re-connecting the traces, butI bekieve that you should have replaced the port as they are inexpensive.... last year I bought a box of 500 assorted ones for less than £25.
I think that your repair might fail quickly as the only thing holding it together is not the mechanical integrety of the metal surround physically holding the inner blade and the contacts, but the strength of those wires jumped to the traces. For the sake of spending 20p on a connector? C'mon man, I KNOW you can do better :)
