    Hi. I have been following your channel for quite some time now from my point of view you one of the most Genuine Teachers of electronics I have ever come across online. Being in the computer repair business for about 10-15years my version of the repair was finding what part went bad and then replacing that part which is very basic since watching and studying your videos I have a better working knowledge of diagnosing and troubleshooting. I know I still have a lot to learn but you make learning easy and fun.
    I want to say thank you for taking the time out to make such educational videos on electronics repair. you have been an inspiration to many of us Please keep up the good work.

    Don't try bridging MOSFETS. Good advice. Back in the 70's I use to tuneup my cars replacing plugs, points and condensers. Then they started putting in fuel injectors and computer circuits. Now I take my truck to people who know what they are doing. Their experience is just as valuable to me as the parts they use. I enjoy your videos. They help me appreciate a hidden world of electronics all around me

      If he did not bridge the MOSFET then the other option was to throw away the dead Laptop but by bridging the MOSFET the laptop turns on and might works for years until there is power surge to damage other components!!!

    Good Video.. I like the *"Beginner Point of View"* idea... Alot of us are just starting out... You should do more like these... i know this is an older vid, but the idea is good & different than everything else on uTube.. You should do fault finding videos like that too... maybe even common components & how to test them with meter in-circuit to know if they are bad, *HOW* to test them.. Thanks keep up the good work Soron...

    It is nice to see something simple. I am on my third laptop to learn this and it looks like I won't find the fault...Things do go very complicated indeed and situations where you just give up pop up all the time. For a noob it may be simple when one looks at your videos but in reality it is very overwhelming. Well at least for me. Thanks Sorin for your work.

    What he did here is equivalent to resetting your circuit breakers when the lights go out in your home. Think of the first two Mosfets as circuit breakers that will shut down power when something is drawing too much current. On an N-Channel Mosfet the Gate must be the same or higher than the source for current to go through. On this Mosfet the Gate was 0.924v while the Source was 19.22v. In order for current to go through he jump the Mosfet to make the Gate equal to the Source thereby allowing the current through.
    But what about the component that cause the surge in the first place?
    It's still there and may lead to more problems down the road.
    Is this a good fix?
    Would you call using a penny in place of a fuse to get the lights back on in your home a good fix?

    Hi Sorin. Sorry for the question but i want to ask, at the end ofthe video you shorted a mosfet and a laptop is working, my question is you shorted from drain to gate or you shorted drain to source? Or it is just does not matter what i short togerher? Its like the same?

    • @rolandberendonck3900
      @rolandberendonck3900 3 роки тому +1

      @Rudko1337 First from drain to source; this will short the MOSFET so the 'switch' will be closed. After that he connected the drain (the 19v input) with the gate so the MOSFET was activated and the 'switch' was closed.

    I can't help but have serious reservations about bridging that MOSFET. Is this your board or a customer? If it is a customer it brings up some other questions. Do they expect you to repair it or just make it work long enough to copy data? Did you talk to them about what you are doing. It just seems a bit shady to bypass a component instead of fixing the problem. When I started watch this video, the title gave me the impression that you would repair it, not jury rig it. This is what my dad used to call half-assing it.

    Este o surubelnita electrica pe ebay, ca un pix micuta rau , cred ca te ar ajuta mult. Am reparat primul laptop cu ajutorul tau ( incalzirea cipului video amd) nu mi a venit sa cred, te urmaresc cu interes si multumesc pentru laptop. Sper ca nu te a deranjat limba Romana 😁
