I'm sure there's a lot of opinions on this product, but I genuinely want one after watching this video.
The newest model PQ2 now has 2 high current connections (no filtration), 1 Video and 3 linear filtered. I am not a believer in all the lofty claims but what I can say is that the device absolutely lowered the noise floor by eliminating a hum in my subwoofers and a high frequency hiss in my speakers. Obviously there is something in my house causing the noise (not a ground loop issue) but the PQ2 eliminated it in my home theater system and that, along with the surge protection, was worth it for me (plus it offered the exact number of connections that I required for the system).
I was wondering why I see some with 1 (the one I got) and pictures of ones with 2 high current ports. Is there 0 filtration going on with the high current? I can't seem to find any definitive documentation on it. Also, I'm trying to decide which to plug my headphone amplifier into. It's not drawing a ton of power. I haven't had time to mess around with testing as I got it today
Interesting product "review". Seems more like an infomercial for Audioquest than a typical review. How do you think this unit compares to the PS Audio Dectect which is about $200 more than the Powerquest 3?
Thanks for your questions. The PowerQuest units have non-sacrificial surge protection. PS Audio does not state non-sacrificial protection, but it includes more outlets and two isolated and filtered zones. Both PS Audio and AudioQuest units offer good value for the money. PowerQuest units include linear noise filtering at a lower price.
When you say filter does that mean it changes or reduces sound?
so much technical lies... 1. difference in dB is not how is described, because dB is logarithmic, not linear, so a difference of x dB mean something completely different (20+x completely something else that 80+x); 2. the electrical "gunk" (noise) do not affect the lifespan, only the quality of the sound - and that obvious only for hi-end hi-fi systems. (and i'm only at min 2 somewhere)
Audioquest Powerquest 3 is also available for EU market with 240V and schuko sockets ?
yes, I have the PQ2 and PQ3; either go to www.analogueseduction.net/search/for/powerquest/ OR artsexcellence.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=powerquest - both follow the list price you can download from audioquest.nl at the bottom
yes
Thanks for the info on these. I just picked up the PQ2, any benefit or concerns with using the USB for things that use a usb power plug, like a Wiim Mini Streamer or DAC like the Schiit Modi?
Una domanda. Segnala il corretto collegamento di fase degli apparecchi? Grazie.
Great information!
Odd that AQ doesn't show any measured proof of voltage noise reduction.
Shawn Furrer No it`s not odd, it`s perfectly normal when you d0n`t have any measured results to present.
Where I can buy powerquest 3 uk version?
One thing missing is that this unit will not improve the sound quality of your hifi whatsoever.
Should I have something like this when I'm running my non-inverter generator and using my iMac ? Please advise. Ted.
It’s not required but it wouldn’t hurt to have it for the time you’re temporarily on the generator when/if you lose house power. Thanks for your question.
@@WorldWideStereo Sir. Thank you for the prompt reply. Question: Could you recommend a product ? Ted.
You will need to switch to PC in this case.
other than 2 socket more. Both filter the power in the same way?
Thanks for your inquiry. They share the same technology, but the PowerQuest 3 has: 2 video optimized liner filter, 2 high current outlets, 4 linear filter outlets, plus 4 high-speed USB charging ports, and signal line protection includes phone and network protection.
Can i plug in my guitar amplifier and get a better sound?
No, they don't improve sound quality
i bought both the 2 and 3 for different systems. Both died within a year. No more AQ products, thank you.
@gaborhorvath7658 Then the dealer replaced the units with new ones under warranty. So what's the problem? There could also be a problem with the location used.
Should I buy one for my headphone amp?
depends on your setup. if you already spend so much that you dont want to upgrade your existing gear because you like it over all or you need to spend much more on a better device or even have reached the top of your line etc. such a conditioner or filter (you can use both it seems, but conditioner is more used fore devices with reservoirs like the Niagara 3000 and up i think) is a good investment. keep in mind that you need to buy a powercord too. NRG Y or lower should be good.
i would say, if you spend 2000 or more on your dac+amp+headphone that here should be ok. think the Niagara 1000/1200 would be the top for headphone systems. you cant normaly use more than the wall provides you with. that what iam opting for.
Maurice Elet I just bought powerquest 2. It makes my Focal Utopia sound significantly cleaner and wetter. It also makes my laptop charging and time machine backup a lot more noticeable in terms of polluting sound. I think my next step would be getting a dedicated audio streamer or a SACD transport. I never knew my wall outlet was so dirty.
@@allansh828 yea. You should try a Custom cable for the headphone too if you havent. They tent to suck. Made a good improvement on my HD 800S
Maurice Elet I bought a 4ft 2.5mm trrs balanced cable, thought I could use it on a portable player. Now I totally regret it, I should’ve spend more on a silver XLR cable to get the most out of the headphones.
@@allansh828 Hm yea, i like to go overkill on my cables to avoid reselling. But its not cheap.
But the noise reduction is above 30 KHz only
Is the power cord flat?
Thanks for your question. The AC power cord to plug in the PowerQuest 2 is a round cable.
mine stopped working after 1 year.....
Nice vidéo ! I'm interested by this product for my small system.
Triangle borea Br02 + ATOLL IN30 + taga hta 700 (tube hybrid int amp). Is the powerquest 3 enough ? Is The high current outlet filter ?
Powerquest 2 is enough. I’ve got the Powequest 2 and an Atoll in50signature with a audioquest NRG y3 between it. The sound is amazing!!!
#snakeoilftw
Cool hashtag, bro.
Buddy talk about those utopias man, don’t waste your life with worthless things.
And what about power cable in this device? To me it looks like 3x0.75mm2 or 3x1.0mm2 and current comes from walls where are usually 2.5mm2 at least here in EU. "Audiophiles" will plug their fancy cables claim how they hear improvements.
The whole concept (conditioners, power cables) is one big nonsense!
