NYC Strangers Try Filipino Leche Flan For the First Time, FAVORITE DESSERT EVER?!

  • We gave random strangers in NYC the amazing Filipino dessert leche flan to try! They had never had it before and they really loved it! Super cool to see Americans trying leche flan for the first time, and to spread a bit of Pinoy culture in NYC!
We got it from a small Filipino cafe in NYC called Kabisera that makes the dessert from scratch, so it was super authentic and delicious. Made with egg yolk, evaporated milk, condensed milk, vanilla extract, and sugar. They did not sponsor this video, but they are super nice, and if you want can check their cafe out at: www.yelp.com/biz/kabisera-new...

Did you notice the reaction of the Filipino couple? They were not very sure of what they’ve to tell, for sure they have eaten better taste than the sample 😂, I myself haven’t had one with coconut but I make the best leche flan which I would save some before setting it on the table, otherwise mauubos agad once the guests arrived, uunahin na nila ang dessert kaysa sa main dishes para di maubusan 😅😋

Leche flan is actually a dessert with spanish/french origins. It was brought to the Philippines during the Spanish occupation and eventually became a Filipino delicacy. Normally, it doesn't have any toppings. But since there's also an abundance of coconuts in the Philippines, that would sound like a logical twist to a classic Pinoy dessert. I have yet to try it though. Thanks for sharing this, Xiaoma!

    Great videos, Xiaoma!
I read a lot of comments about how leche flan should be, and I get that because we are sometimes really passionate about food. But we should also understand that each and everyone of us has their own take of a certain dish, and the resto that made the leche flan did not claim that it was the authentic and traditional one. Also, when you go to the Philippines, a certain dish is cooked a certain way in this region and in another region they cook it differently. Take for example the adobo dish, it is cooked differently depending on the region and each are traditional in its own right.
Bottomline, these videos showcasing Filipino dishes are really great in terms of making them known to other people and I bet a lot of subscribers who haven't tried Filipino dishes before would try to have one or look for one. 👍👍👍
