- This video is a guide for the Astrocetus or space whale that is available in ARK: Genesis. The Astrocetus is a large floating beast that is pretty hard to tame using anything other than the tek hover skiff. In this video I will sho w you how to tame the astrocetus and walk through how to use it with the tek astrocetus saddle. The saddle is unlocked by defeating the final boss of Genesis at Beta difficulty so this is definitely not a tame for early in the game. The Astrocetus is found in the Lunar biome of genesis so dont expect this to be easy. What do you get for taming one? Well, the saddle comes complete with 3 gun turrets that take element to use, it drops bombs using ambergris, you can build the saddle, including cannons, and also it can teleport through walls! Get this thing!

Update: It looks like the bombs can damage buildings but the collision is a bit all over the place at the moment. Your results may vary.

They don't damage your own buildings if that was the target.
I test on buildings I build in a different tribe then quit the tribe for testing. That way they are damageable. Still didn't register for me for whatever reason.
@@MittGaming sometimes if you form a tribe build a structure then leave the tribe if your the last on in the tribe it remains yours.

Brings me back to my childhood. Ecco Tides of Time for sega genesis, later levels took place in the future of earth which involved space whales who could fly. Perhaps inspiration to the design of this creature idea.
Having evolved from sea to space travel, it would seem like a step back if it could swim still since its flippers aren't for water anymore.

It's worth note that the Final Test is the hardest boss in ARK by a long shot. So good luck unlocking those bombs and turrets.

I feel wildcard need to separate utility saddles and basic saddles. Give creatures that have one saddle, such as the Astrocetus and rollrat, a basic saddle that allows you to ride them but without the utility of the tek turrets or role cage. These kind of options I'd like to see more of in the game, officially implemented so consoles don't get left out.

I would recommend using a blood stalker with rocket launchers for a cheap tame
I knocked out a 130 in 1 shot with a mek with the giant cannon, kinda expensive, but great, i think i hit it with splash dmg while killing the rexes that attacked it, so it turned out a 156 with 10x taming with mutton
Yup, the Mek works too! I try to keep the methods in my videos to genesis only but that absolutely is great way of knocking em out!
Can you make a mek in Genesis official server? Assuming if you have it learned?
@@DaRk_SaVaGe05 Totally, and it only falls behind Extinction in ease to craft (element supply).
Honestly speaking the Hover Skiff is cool, but all you need is a Paraceratherium with a platform saddle or a Mek. Even lvl 150s will go down in 3 cannon shots or a single M.S.C.M round, but only hits to the head count to rise the torpor.
They always tame with low efficiency, till the present moment.
You can use a Mek with the cannon module and you will be able to knock them out with one hit.
With other word it is a b-24

No they are not time limited like the Liopluerodon, Titanosaurus & the Titans are
You can also tame it by hitting it in the head with a Rocket Launcher as well.

yes the Pteranodon's do spawn in the bog (along with their flying dorito cousin who did get an X-variant the Tapejara)
Argy's also spawn too where they have an X-variant in the tundra and have their regular form over in the Volcano
and then you also have the Pelagornis who spawn in the ocean typically flying from pillar to pillar

I need help from anybody who reads this, my (Tamed) whale was hit by a random dino and teleported away and now I can't find it but there is also no death message. is there any way to find it or should I just tame a new one? (I'm on ragnarock)

Me and my friends just hopped on a few foundations we built on a quetzal and threw a few cannons on there and we tamed like 3 space whales

@@constantinomabres5320 of course this map has only 4 flyer's: Pteranodon, X-Tapejara, Argentavis (regular is in the Volcano, X-variant is in the Tundra) & the Pelagornis
You can tame a space whale way way earlier all you need is a rocket launcher and a bloodstalker not joking
