@GroundedOnTwo I wouldn't call them gimmicky. If I didn't enable fliers on my SP save, I'd use only the bloodstalker for movement. Even with my argy available, I still use my bloodstalker for mobility 70% of the time. And I've found them to work just fine (if not better) in the non bog biomes. The giant spires in the ocean, the valleys in the volcanic biome, and the numerous trees in the arctic give me plenty of easy grapple points.
Man, when you had all those Blood Stalkers lined up to show the different drunk names, I thought you were going to make them all dance at the same time. It would have been just like the Thriller video.

I could not figure out how to use the bloodstalker for the life of me. I watched so many videos about how to use it and none of the videos were nearly as good or instructive. Thanks Syntac! I can actually use my Bloodstalker now!
One of my creative usages on this guy is, Build a gate spam big enough to lock him inside. Then if theres a creature you wanna tame you just hook it. Go with the bloodstalker to the cage and dismount. Lock the gates so the BS will be completely sealed. And when you dismount itll start pulling that creature but the cage wont let him reach the prey. And what you get is an 100% disabled creature perfect for shooting tranq at. Good for taming baryonyx on the bog. Note: you can use it for fliers as well. But tapejara is a bit of a problem. When it reaches near you it triggers its flee and itll gain enough speed to out run the BS hook which will lead to some sort of bug where its seems like its drawing the strings in but the BS already released the hook
This is such a good instructional video, I feel like I'm at school. Also, the overall mechanic of the swinging is very similar to the new Spider Man game
Use left bumper and right trigger together to lower yourself. Dive is left bumper and left stick click, but is not working just makes it shimmy left and right
Cute Tip: If you are wearing a Chibi while riding a bloodstalker and k camera to look at your av you can see that your avatar kind of holds the chibi between their hands. You can also go into that first person view with a tool in your hand and see your chibi up really close between you and the spider.
Oh my lord I didn't know it did emotes! I got the hang of this guy over time, but that's just gold. I knew about the drunken names, but I honestly need to get my friend on and make him drunk so he can see them.
Just a little extra to when he starts drinking your blood (because he is under 40% health) if you drag in a creature and lets him drain that instead you will be fine
Several other creatures can also grab corpses or unconcious people using g, including dire wolves, raptors, rexes, pteras and quetz. I havent tested all ARK creatures so there could be even more!
the bloodstalker has 2 abilities you didn't mention 1. he can leap forward on the ground if you push spacebar 2 times and 2. he can still go to the surface even if you use the x button deep in the ocean
On pc when you hold shift/run on the bloody and then spacebar/jump the bloody does a flip then you can web sling away. Also if you hold the jump button, it does a super springy jump. You can also leave it dangling on a wall with its thread if you leap off and it has a walk climb ability like a spider. Basically can walk across walls and ceilings
Hold down control in the air and it will act like a parachute on the bloodstalker . After a few seconds you can hit space bar to jump and hit control again to glide further.
Two things that are worth mentioning that weren't addressed in the video: wild Megatheriums don't rage near bloodstalker (you can see this at 9:40), and if you're swimming underwater and hit X it will rise to the surface but THERE IS NO WAY TO CANCEL THIS (to my knowledge at least, this has gotten me stuck on the ceiling of underwater caves before).
I always used the left click for getting around, and the right click in mid air only if I know I can get them separated. Then I also use only the right click to launch from the ground.
You should make this type of tutorials for other genesis creatures as well. This was quite educational. Very unfortunate that you can't swim on Xbox though.
The carrying corpses with the bloodstalker also works with the Rex. I found that out before the genesis update. I know that some other creature have it as well.

Man it is complex, no joke I'm gonna have to practise up later coz I got one of these creatures in a gift box set by the servers admin during last night's Christmas party (it was funny ah, Reindeer and Sheep races)
There is a few things underwater it can do other than mentioned. When you are underwater and press x it makes you go up and if you spam shift while doing it then it goes really fast, to cancel this press x again. If you dismount your bloodstalker underwater (if it is not on follow) it will swim up fast. You can also swim faster with shift and again spamming it makes it go extremely fast. The spamming of shift this is properly a bug tho.
You don’t need to be near the surface for ‘x’ to make u resurface, you can hit x at any depth and it will go up on top of the water again all by it self
Hey syntac these controls are incorrect for console here is the correct controls. You also missed some things about the blood stalker as well. Right trigger = “swing” web which shoot out a single web will pull you forward while looking at it and with swing you forward if your not Left trigger = “slingshot” or “sling” web this will put two webs out you can manual put one down (with swing web) and then the second (with sling web) as you showed in your video and then pull yourself BUT you can also walk backwards while they are attached and slingshot yourself by pulling back against the webs and fire it the slingshot with jump which will fire you further RB = look but also is Hover an easy way to hover without swapping views is to hold LB + RB you do not have to hold LB for the entire thing if you are doing the “hover jump” just for the initial cast so your view doesn’t switch and you can tap “A” without it thinking your trying to switch to an item with LB + A Decending on a web or two is LB + (either trigger) L3 is sprint and climb A = jump. Holding jump while rocketing towards a surface will climb it on impact And there are 3 different jumps, jump double jump and charged jump if standing still and charge jumping while holding a direction the spider will front flip towards the direction but charge jumping is a great way to start momentum by getting great height. R3 is attack and break webs Webs can be broken at any time and any web can be broken you can even make a trap of walls and a roof over the trap and then start dealing them in only to cut the web and the creature fall in a building L1 + L3 is toggle switch but it seems to be bugged on single player and may or may not work on a server Equipping an item will make your bloodstalker give you a higher vantage point and will even help you Dumb fun is also a thing as it can also emote as you showed and have funny names with beer a full list is on the wiki The important thing to not when climbing walls is that your camera becomes gyroscopic so up may become down and your controls may spin a bit but as long as you know which direction your facing you should be good Like if you want :)
This isn’t about a bloods talker but I’ve been breeding rexs without an S plus Hatchery for a week and I’ve got a Rex that deals 800 damage per hit and has awesome colors thanks to that vid you did a lil while ago about mutations so thx man but seriously it sucks without S plus 😂
So does clicking the right stick actually lower you because doesn't that just cut the grapple and also does pressing y work to pick up a corpse because i don't think it works

it skims across smooth surfaces while wall walking if you hold shift thought i would add that. Also i haven't been able to use my mining drill on the bloodstalker since the patch that "fixed" the ferox.

The Bloodstalker is definitely one of the most unique and interesting creatures that Ark has ever released. Swing physics, tether, it's all there.

@@ducky2379 also blood stalker can walk on water so its good travel to other island in ocean and you should go to red wood with bloodstalker

To get out of the water on Xbox it's actually left bumper and press left stick in (you can't be pressing anything else). Right stick is attack.

When using bloodstalker underwater, shift or sprint works as a burst. Spamming shift underwater is way faster than holding it but it chews stamina

you can cancel the thing where you go to the surface by just pressing x again.

The thing about the weird names when drunk is something I wish we could have for every creature.
There is a few things underwater it can do other than mentioned. I’m on ps4 in the lowering when the stalker is on the web ain’t working just keep going into the parachute and I’m pressing r1 as in R for ps4.
