LDAC can actually run at a maximum of 990kbps for the best sound quality but drops down to 660kbps for a more reliable connection. 👍🏻
android phones cannot do 900 ldac anymore without sound chopping. Auto defaults to 440. Android is a mess. Apple needs to support LDAC!

Hey Brother!!!! Thanks a bunch for all the great content, because of these great videos, I have bought 3 different Koss headphones with the Yaki pads for them, also picked up a BTR5 as a result of your channel too and I just love them all!!! Now I am turning into a "cheap skate" amateur audiophile!!!!
So I cane across this video and noticed something you said about LDAC bitrate at 600.... Just an FYI...... LDAC comes with three different types of connection mode - quality priority, normal, and connection priority. Each of these offers a different bitrate, weighing in at 990, 660, and 330 kbps respectively. Now Qualcomm’s AptX is at 352 kbps, and AptX HD is 576 kbps. So on paper, 990 kbps LDAC transmits a lot more data than any other Bluetooth codec out there...

just an 05 basic is "insane"? im the insane kid that sits down for lunch at school with a m7,xd-05, and LB B4-X stack and listens with a balanced pair of VE Monk+.... im now realizing why i have no friends

Hey Zeos, first of all I LOVE your videos. Enough slobbering on you... Secondly, between this or the BTR5 which you recommend? Portability and sound quality and I will only be using it with my Note 10 plus exclusively. I will be using SHP9500s and my Sennheiser HD599s as my mains.

i know this XD-05 Basic can be portable, but i don't think i'm gonna carry any external dac/amp combo especially with that size.
TLDR; which one is the best sounding for desktop-use dac/amp combo?
I guess ifi. I use the fiio q5s which is complete different thing for portable and less powerful and i use it for Toslink and rca from my ps1 - 3 and nintendo switch. since ive got a high end motherboard with the ryzen, i do not need it. I actually recommend bluetooth with smart devices. it is really game changing but ifi will survive longer. obsolescence is a thing with most things excluding standalone dacs and of cource amps. ifi has more power 1 watt if I do remember it correctly.
TLDR what do you use and how much easier is your life by taking the xd05 basic? I take my dac amp combo with me to drive Neumann NDH20.
The HartAudio cable finally comes tomorrow.... after using the stock one for 6 months. If you only use headphones and clean the rooom with good music I actually use bluetooth build in the motherboard which is aptx LL and sounds miles better than any phone without LDAC
Edit: Devices with batteriess are on a timer before it could be useless. FiiO Q6s has no input for wired use the xd05 basic does.
Just ordered one so we’ll see how it turns out!

I own the plus and I relly dont think that its a good idea to make it flush when u insert an adapter cuz how could u remove it without some crazy magnets?
It'd have to be a side cutout to work, or like, thin enough that the top and bottom expose the adapter/jack.

From what I know the balanced version is 2watt through 4.4 pentacon, have a 4pin mini xlr in and might have an upgraded DAC over the Plus.
They announced a ESS 9038q2m*2 for the new balanced version instead of the AK4493EQ for the XD-05 Plus.

I don't understand. I have the xduoo XD-05 Basic, recently bought the bluetooth thingy and... well I'm met with just no signal on coaxial, don't know whats wrong.

It hard to check because you would need to adapt the 3.5mm male to be an RCA male into another device. Does anything else 3.5mm Coax work into the unit?
Zeos, I see you have not reviewed the *Senal SMH-1200* . They're not Hi-Fi, but studio monitor headphones. Still, I encourage you to do so if you happen to get them. They're supposed to be like a refined Sony MDR-7506, but sound nothing like the Sony and have none of the bass. They literally have no bass, and the overall presentation is very dry and lonely. Now, in terms of detail retrieval, I think you'll be impressed with how much they let one see into the deepest details of music. I've owned mine for a bit over three years and they never cease to amaze me, and still look brand new.
Sometimes I get spooked at some sounds, because they sound so clear and transparent without having piercing highs. They don't sound pretty, but their sound quality in my opinion is easily four times their price. They truly sound like nothing else I own. I gifted a pair to a friend and he agrees that they're audio loupes and have impressive detail retrieval ability. I hear stuff with them in my favorite recordings that gets masked in my other headphones, especially noise and hiss. They remind me of my Shure SRH1840. They have that bass-shy, mid-centric presentation that while boring, sounds well-blended and cohesive as a whole.
I think you need to let your subscribers know about these gems, brother. You'll probably hate their sound presentation, but the audio quality itself is to talk about!

If I use the line in to connect to my mp3 player can I use phone out as a line/aux out to connect to line in/aux on my speaker system? I am ready to buy one of these units but not if using phone out as line out will produce a distorted signal (from whatever mismatch might be the cause)? Thanks for any reply.
Looking for my first dive into upgrading my audio equipment for gaming and music and this looks awesome. It seems like a no brainer over the origen g2 and fiio k3 but would you advise it over a schiit hel too? I'm wanting to drive some T50RPs.
I'd pick this because of the option of portability, assuming you're going to get a separate mic and not an in-line with a splitter for the hel. But be warned, this is a hole you won't be able to dig out of. I bought the m40's with pads and a the portable fiio back in January and now I own 7 pairs of headphones and 2 IEM's. I don't regret it though, each headphone has it's own signature and I swap through them regularly.
@@MGrimm1226 yeah I'm trying to keep my options open so have no issue with a separate mic just running out of the PC. I feel this already, I don't even know how many zeos videos I've watched at this point.

@@comradestrawberry1876 I'm confused though, the mk 3s are able to drive on the lowest gain setting on the Plus, is there an advantage to running it the higher gain settings? It just seems to make the volume knob more sensitive lol..
@@comradestrawberry1876 ah ok, I understand. I've been using low/medium gain on the plus with the vol. knob around noon, the highest gain option I can only put the knob at like 10/11

Hopefully you see this, I have searched for hours to try and figure out what type of cable I need to plug into the "Digital in" port, iv tried searching for fiber optic cable and all the ones you mentioned but am unable to find any that look like yours, from my understanding only the digital in port supports 24 bit 196khz Sample which is what im trying to listen to on apple music. I would appreciate any help as I am absolutely lost

Well I got my hip dac and p1 today. Now my wall contains kph30i, LG g7 as a dap and hip dac and tin p1. I think it competes head to head with your wall. 😎😝
For $80 you can get the xduoo xq50pro and connect to your g7 wireless. It also sounds better than the dac on your phone!
@@jimstewart2242 using hip dac via otg on my phone. 😁 Only use g7 when I'm on the go. I can't take p1 around with weak sources and kph30i is semi open. I use 10 dollar audio technica airbuds via my phone during travel. 👍

With this out now, you only REALLY need the XD-05 Plus if you're driving something like a 250 ohm Beyer DT-770 or need the long battery life.

I have a problem with this device. I hear a beep in the headphones when the song ends. A beep also sounds when I play a new track. The problem occurs with the DT-770, Audiotechnica M40x headphones. In UA-cam, Spotify and foobar application on laptop and phone. Do you also hear a beep like that?
Some people on head-fi have complained about hearing distortion for a second every time they pause/unpause a song.

I've had mine for about 9 months now and nothing but issues. Updated to the latest firmware and now the owner of an expensive brick. I really liked this one, but this has just put a sour taste in my mouth for them. Maybe a hard pass on this one and look for something else. Xduoo service never responded to multiple inquiries about getting it fixed.

I like XD-05 because you can open it up and mess with it (change op amp, replace battery, etc). XP-2 PRO cannot be opened. Also there's something pleasing about a brick; if small form factor is your thing you might as well get the topping NX4.
