I have a question for u bro I just got a new big ripper 29 and came with small sprocket in front the problem is when I pedal it doesn't feel I am going fast is just I hit 10 miles per hr and my spin and spin what do I need to do in order for me go faster ?
By moving the wheel further inwards on the rear drops outs you apply more torque on the frame geometry making it easier to wheelie at low speeds but at high speeds this increases making it unstable "Loopie/Twitchy " so think of it this way inward = low speed manuals, outward = high speed manuals. yes each frame and rider is different so adjust as you desire, It took me a few years of riding my BMX with gearing and chain lenght to find the right spot for very high speed stability even tire pressure matters I set my bike up to use the gearing to get me close to the best speed when I ran out of gearing It was even better... I didnt have to peddle then :D
Thanks. Keep on riding! My son is in 10th grade now and is getting better every day. When he was little I made the videos with him, but now he's doing it all on his own.
would you rather the chain snapped or the sprocket wears down a bit. i use to ride bmx i had a half link heavy duty chain on a stander issue sprocket and yes it is worn down but the sprocket is still usable
Hey im not realy the best and i ordered a 30t and in the back i have a 15t in the back please reply i need some help and what kind of 3 peice cranks do you recomend and what kind of brakes are on the white bike i tossed my old ones and am looking for a new pair to buy please reply to me as soon as possible thanks

Hey there, do you know what the largest rear free wheel single speed sprocket you can get is? Looking to make a polo bike with easy gear ratio but have a very custom front chain ring that’ll be hard to change I think.
so im looking where to buy the nine tooth freewheel for the back of my bmx , but so far the smallest freewheel ive seen was a 13t freewheel. can some one please help me and advise me a good store where they might have one ?
Does the chain thickness matter?? I’m thinkin about going thinner than factory, or do you think it’ll come off at super high speeds. I noticed you went bigger
Good information on your videos i have question my son has a 14 inch bike a tony hawk climber model and i was thinking of changing the sprocket to a bigger one so he can keep up with my oldest son with a 20 inch bike do you think thats possible
That should be possible. You would need a bigger chain. Depending on how the sprocket is attached, you might have to change the whole crank. If it’s bolted on, you should be able to find a bigger sprocket to bolt on.
any advise is welcome, I have a 16 tooth sprocket on the back, Im looking to get a smaller front sprocket, im 30 years old and I can only right side grind so looking to get a smaller one in the front any suggetions? possibly suggetions that make keeping my rear sprocket the same
+Shawn Dinterman You could go smaller on the front and see how you like it. Your overall top speed won't be very high, but that probably doesn't matter much on a BMX bike.
If i already have a small sprocket and just want to get a diff color do i hav to change the chain or back sprocket or do i just swap them out real fast
Hey i ddnt have any washers at hand and used spare narrow nuts on my back wheel to allign the sprockets. You can quite clearly see the wheel is to the side so will this affect my ride?
Changing the rear sprocket is tricky. You have to find one that fits your hub, and you need a special tool to get the old one off and put the new one on. It would probably be a better idea to spend that money on a new back wheel with a small sprocket on it. I'd recommend you try the smaller front sprocket with your current rear wheel, and if you don't like it, get a smaller rear sprocket or a whole wheel with a smaller sprocket.
New BMX bikes come with 28 in the front and 9 in the back, which makes for higher gearing than your setup. Changing the rear sprocket can be difficult and expensive, but if you go much smaller with the front sprocket, your gearing will be really low. I'd say, if the sprocket doesn't catch on the edge of the ramp when you're dropping in, keep it the way it is.
im guessing you can tell me setup is rather old? haha but yah my bike is 3 yrs old that I got from a dude. and that's how the setup was I was just curious to know if that was good how it was or if there was a better ratio it could be at.
You're also supposed to loosen the pinch bolt on the crank first before you undo the spindle bolt. It's easier and will prevent stripping. As for the chain, you put it on backwards but that doesn't really matter, just looks weird as a halflink. Just my experience.
Can you make a video on how to accualy take the sprocket off because mine is a 3 piece cranks but its a ball bearing one so it has that bearing cup thing witht the3 gaps and I dont knlw what tool to use or whatway to turn it its just like that one but mine is smaller 25 th and its a ball bearing cranks so I have no idea how to take it off how did u do it
Bryan Apolonio I made a couple of videos. In this one, you can see how to replace ball bearings with a sealed bearing: ua-cam.com/video/f9bbHBaSp-s/v-deo.html In this one, I show how to install a bottom bracket with bearings like yours: ua-cam.com/video/71Pg3b_ldv4/v-deo.html
If you calculate gear ratio it's front teeth divided by back teeth multiplied with wheel size. But when comparing both on a same wheelsize you don't have to multiply it by the wheel size.
If I have a 16t at the back how much do I need for the front? And also if I’m changing to small with the answer you will give me will I have to change the chain? And lastly can I change the sprocket without taking my wheel apart?
Different people have different favorite gear ratios. A lot of people have a nine tooth in the back when they put a smaller sprocket on the front. It is possible to change the sprocket on the back wheel, but they usually need a special tool made by the wheel manufacturer. All of that can get pretty expensive.
that sprocket needs a little converter that goes over the spindle and goes into the sprocket to make everything nice and snug and centered, if you have a close look i'm sure that there's gonna be a tight spot in that drive line due to this, it also wears the sprocket down alot faster
im trying to order new sprockets and idk whether the sprocket im getting is my front or rear sprocket. also should I buy both at the same time along with the chain.
See if the people you are ordering from have an 800 number you can call to order. They can probably help you. It is a good idea to replace the chain along with the sprockets. The front sprocket is easy to replace, and it is the bigger of the two. A rear sprocket is specifically made for the type of hub you are running, and it probably requires a special tool to remove. You would have to tell the company exactly what type of rear hub you need a sprocket for and see if they have it and a removal tool.
The smaller sprocket means you have to turn the cranks more times to go the same speed as you would on a bike with a bigger sprocket. Smaller sprockets make it easier to climb, and bigger sprockets make it easier to go really fast.
Tyler Cone You should be able to loosen up the stem and slide it down the fork to tighten it up. This might be the answer: ua-cam.com/video/dYY_zjKd5tc/v-deo.html
I have a go kart and my friend put a small sprocket on for his little sister and I got on and I popped off the sprocket two in less than 5 minutes. Was it because of my weight or wat? It was a 50 something tooth sprocket and he reccomended a 72 tooth sprocket. So was that my problem or not?
tahj clark A smaller sprocket in the front gives you more low end power, and a bigger sprocket in the front gives you more top end speed. The opposite is true for the back sprocket. In your case, maybe the sprocket wasn't bolted on tightly enough.
To do that, you need a smaller rear sprocket as well. Do the math to figure out what is close. If you currently run 32 in the front and 14 in the back, divide 32 by 14. Then see what you need to divide 25 by to get the same number, and that's how many teeth you need on the rear sprocket. Fun with math!

Not sure where you could find one there. You would probably have to mail order it from somewhere in USA. I bet shipping would be expensive.

how big is the back wheel sprocket because audio dont work on my laptop

No. You can take some links out of the chain.
hoohoohoblin oh ok thanks I was thinking on getting a new sprocket
What type of tool is needed to change the sprocket in the back of the bike so I don't have to get a while new wheel plz help
It depends on the hub. Many of them require a special tool that you would have to buy from the manufacturer.

Probably not, but it might.

what brand is the sprocket
I want a small sprocket but make the pedaling the same as the stock sprocket any suggestions ?
To do that, you need a smaller rear sprocket as well. Do the math to figure out what is close. If you currently run 32 in the front and 14 in the back, divide 32 by 14. Then see what you need to divide 25 by to get the same number, and that's how many teeth you need on the rear sprocket. Fun with math!
