I think the whole thing is neat. Folks are upset about the motor on axel. It’s a straight bashed truck, not a scale machine or a race setup. It’s made to bash the hell out of. The motor on axel is going to be bomb proof. It’s in the same price range as a lot of other RTR 2WD trucks. It bet it’s fun to rip an open park and jump the hell out of with that long suspension. I kind of want one.
I love it because it's different and I want one. No one uses a MoA on a non crawler anymore, but this set up used to be common back in the 80s. It's like a modern take on a Tamiya Hornet.
yeah but the motor is mounted to the rear axle so it’s got terrible unsprung weight
Just bought 2 of them today . One for me and one for wife . Brand new $159 . CAN'T beat it . Only tried one inside because of the rain . I set it to half throttle and it will do donuts on the hardwood floor UNTIL wife yelled at me .
That thing looks awesome.
Would love to see kyosho release a mini retro solid axle monster truck using those rear axles!
Another really cool unboxing and overview!!!
Neat truck. That would be a great track class.
Another way to measure the wheelbase is to measure from the front of the front tire to the front of the rear tire, that will give you the wheelbase length. The same applies to the track width. Measure from the inside of the left tire to the outside of the right tire.
That is the easiest way for me so I'm not trying to get the tape exactly in the center of the hubs.
Another great video Rich, Thank you. :)
Love this truck! White body totally reminds my of their Optima Mid paint scheme! LOVE!
Another solid axle trophy style truck, it's a great class, glad to see another manufacturer jumping into it. Axial and Losi with 4WD and now Kyosho with a 2WD version, good stuff! I also run my Losi Baja Rey on a clay track, rear locker and all, its just so much fun watching it's scale jumping.
Always wanted the Outlaw Rampage or Outlaw Ultima! Heart was set once I saw in 1st hobby shop some 25 years ago! 4wd would've been nice, not 100% sold on 2wd w/solid axle though. A lot of plastic- what about aftermarket alloy upgrades & brushless capabilities?
If I had the space might pick one up. Looks sweet!
Cool rig. Kyosho stuff is generally very well thought out and these seems to be no exception.
I agree!
Hit it looks sick
Very beefy and strong looking will have to save up money to add to mine colection.
I really like the solid axle trucks, they definitely drive a lot different from your used to but fun in their own ways
Man this chassis is neat looking hope it runs good!
I would love to own a Kyosho period!! This rig would be right what I'm looking for. However the motor wires look scetchy where their placed. The battery tray is limited without mods or replacement. Otherwise it seems to be completely decent RC. Great work with this unboxing excellent clarity.✌
Nice first look. Can't wait to see you put it through it's paces. Not quite sure about solid rear axle and 2WD but willing to see you get it out in some dirt.
I like it for the most part. The body is a little goofy looking (roof height) But I like the grill option. The chassis layout is interesting, but again come's up short with the all in one motor/trans/axle. It reminds me a little of my Mad Force Kruizer. It's a pretty cool, but a little goofy.. And turned out to be wicked fun to run it. I expect this would be the same way.
It's cool, just like my real chevy truck suspension :)
It's looks awesome an great job on the review as well, I to would want a little more scale but that bing said wouldn't have think about not wanting to beat it up on jumps or roll overs
definitely has possibility. not a big MOA style truck fan. Would like to get a closer look.
I'm considering about buying the truck, I'm just wondering how it holds up in sand as most driving I'll do is in a sand pit. Are there any weak spots in the chassis? Also for the tires, what would you recommend?
Can you look at the front-rear weight balance?
looks very nice tempted going to wait and see what you recon on driving first. love the price point too,£180 cheaper than Axial
It looks good to me! I definitely am interested, though it depends on pricing.
I got one, as a longtime Kyosho racer this felt like a must have.
The mods started while charged the battery. It has been a while since I have charged a Ni-mh pack.
I started with shocks. RB6 rear shocks are the same size and the stock springs are similar to pinks. My front shocks have stock springs, 2x1.7mm pistons and 350cst fluid like they put in the stock shocks. Out back it is red springs, 2x1.7mm pistons and 400cst fluid.
The body does make some noise and bounce around but if you want it quiet and more stable just place some rubber washers from your local hardware store on the body posts to firm things up and make things a bit more smooth.
Next up are some Ti steering links and some brushless power. The Kyosho Le Mans ESC and 19.5t motor are what I want...
Anyone else thinking about other mods?
You're nailing it!
I used to have an original Outlaw Rampage nitro version. This truck looks pretty cool though.
Your honest opinion after running this truck...is it a “more scale” substitute for a 2wd slash? Because that’s what I would buy it as. Any general complaints/must do upgrades spotted so far?
would you know if the original kyosho outlaw was based upon the kyosho ultima chassis
Same electronic they throw in the new RB6.6 rtr buggy.
G15 motor is quite fast even more than my sensorless 17,5 brushless no joke.
The servo is a perfex ks201 a rebrand cheap s3003 with heatsink. They cut a lot on the gear but still over 200$ price tag?! Sc10b or rc10b4 are 250$ but came with decent metal gear servo, brushless combo and ajustable camber.
If you are 16yrs old living in Europe this is for you.
this body fits kyosho DRX?
I would really like to see you review PR Racing 2wd and 4wd buggies
I would just get a yeti score in fact right now I'm building a custom trophy truck
Does the Kyosho Outlaw Rampage comes with metal gears or do you have to buy the metal gears separately?
I honestly couldn't tell you. I only had this truck for these 2 videos, and wasn't that impressed. I would expect serious issues with it if you ran big power on it
I'm torn on this. It looks awesome and all but I would want to race it and while our track surface might favour it, I'm too unsure of it. Will wait to see how yours goes and may look into it in the future
It's actually a horrible design from a performance standpoint. I would highly recommend buying something else if you're planning on racing at all, even just for fun.
do you think its ok for a 7yrs old.? is it future proof, like can i do mods to enhance the performance. thanks
It looks cool, that's about it. Kyosho is a very old company that uses really older antiquated designs - especially this one. I would go with a full independent 4wd truck for your 7 year old. Look at the Arrma Senton 3s or the Traxxas Slash
This thing is nice! What is the price point?
I kinda want one. My biggest problem with the design is the steering sliding rack. Always a bad idea on an offroad vehicle, that thing is gonna get full of dirt and it'll seize.
Eurotrash RC Losi Xxx-SCt cough cough... biggest flaw of it so now bummed about this setup
Had the same problem with the Vaterra Twin Hammers. Steering was completely crippled after a trip in the dirt. It boggles my mind why they chose a steering rack for any of these platforms, it's not like there isn't room for bellcranks.
I have one prblm with my truck It is not turning to the right direction. Only turning to the left.. Anyone have any idea what shld be the wrong. ?. Please suggest ..
Ive got one highly modified body but gutts same its my first rc car its easy to work on
Nice! Thanks for stopping by!
The motor on axle is for traction. Simple solution for the main issue with solid axle 2wd trucks
It just kills the scale look of it
The MOA should help the weight bias. The yeti is front heavy. This puts some unsprung weight right over the rear end. Although it does kill the look..
I have one,reserve stop working,any ideia whats going on?Thanks!
Not sure....May want to inspect all the wiring and them do a radio/esc calibration
The RCNetwork thank you for the reply, and yes already check that and nothing, contacted Kyosho looks like I need a new speed controller it’s under 90 days warranty!
At the price point, why not. I think there might be some better options of wheels and tires by checking out those made for short course trucks.
Water proof electronics?
Waiting for driving impressions video.
Rally car?
I like the 2wd drive part just not the motor on axle ....but if the price right it might just have to be added to the collection. .. are you going to do some running videos
Yep!
The RCNetwork want to see how it handles on small jumps aka SCT style thx had yeti TT, Every model slash n like this setup for my track
It looks neat, but it is over shadowed by the axial yeti score
Not my type of truck but it does kind of catch your eye
Ha where is the radio shack hi lo rear WHITE selecting trans gearing
Do you think it’s better than the Toyota helix
Max speed ? In stock gear ?
SLOW. It’s a brushed system and not meant to go fast
@@TheRCNetwork yes but I want a low budget off road car and I want to learn the speed of this truck,in the Kyosho ad it seems to be doing very well,is this clickable [I mean ad]?
Great unboxing as always, But I was very disappointed with the MOA set up. That would make it so I would not buy this. Keep up the great work
To me it looks more like a first gen Ford Bronco with a custom made rear cover.
Lots of unsprung weight on that rear axle.
i have one that is blue with new lifted suspencion
Nice! I like the Blue version
@@TheRCNetwork omg you actully replied
I Like it. Would be better with brushless.
I see my next project
Hit
The battery is mounted way to far forward , zero rear traction , no weight on the back axle.
Personally I wish this was 4wd it can be done but I feel like they did this to cheap out but I compare this to a yeti jr or yeti score jr and that is 4wd
Size wise, this is much smaller than a Yeti Score. It's the same size as an SCX10
Sorry, I missed the "Jr"....It is larger than that
Check out the Vetta Karoo. It's 4wd with a rear solid axle.
Why did Kyosho make this truck? It's not very scale with the axle mounted gearbox. The 2wd means it isn't for trailing, but it doesn't look like much of a racer either. I guess it is just a backyard basher - as long as you just do small jumps. I don't have any interest, but maybe somebody new to the hobby would buy one if they just want a first truck....that doesn't do anything really well. Rock on.
Drive the damn thing
watch the video.....it's on the channel
The esc is made by hobbywing
Kyosho really have found a gap in the market here as there is no 2wd off road truck with scale ish looks and the ability to go fast that's not a SCT monster or stadium truck! The closest looking thing I can imagine would be putting one of prolines true scale bodies on a 2wd slash but that has independent suspension not moa like this has. I might pick up one if the price was ok but I got a funny feeling that in the UK it might be over the £200 mark if so then it's a no deal for me. Now if a kit version came out way cheeper.....
this or the trophy rat ?
The Trophy Rat is a bit more of a runner
The RCNetwork eh i guess if im buying i'd choose the trophy rat, looks more fun
I dont understand why tower hobbies cant get these! They cant get the monster tracker neither.
why did i buy a slash
Moa is cool I like it
I have been reading the comments on this thing and I think Kyosho missed the mark on this. It seems to me that they took a baja or short course machine and mixed it with an 80`s style racing machine. This combination gives you great handling for jumps, but with limited ability to mod it. With that being said unless this can compete with the other racing SC vehicles out there this is only a basher, a 2WD basher at that, and the price is to high. This vehicle at best is a beginner rc and no beginner rc should cost that as much as this does. I personally would not buy this vehicle (if it was given to me i would keep it and do some serious modifications) because of it being so expensive for 1980`s era engineering.
Rich, I have to disagree with you about the price point. Yes the non-licensed body should drop the price point, but at $229 it's still too much for a rear axle design that is almost forty years old. When you take into account that some of their other "entry-level" designs are selling for almost half the price, it doesn't make this very appealing when you compare it to other trucks at the same price: sc10, arrma fury, lcg slash, even the hcg slash and ecx torment compare, since you aren't going to be competitive trying to race this with that MOA rear axle, and most of the competition is about $40 less. I love kyosho, but IMO this MOA is DOA.
I'm not sure on the 40 year old design....and I agreed that the MOA was a bummer. But comparing this to a Slash 2wd, SC10 and Arrma Fury....all of which are FIS trucks made to hit a pricepoint (the SC10.x is more of a racer though) Any IFS/SRA truck will be more of a scaler truck, like the Baja Rey and SCORE trophy Truck. Given that this is in the SCX10 size range it gives even more versatility. People that will buy this are not in the same market as the Arrma Fury MEGA buyer looking for that $150 entry level experience. It's like comparing Coors Light to Blue Moon. But like all my videos, it's my opinion
The RCNetwork I just can't agree that this is going to be considered a scale truck with that rear end. That rear axle design goes all the way back to the original Tamiya Pajero released in 81 as hobby grade, and even further back if you include the radio shack, Tyco, and Nikko buggies we used to race back then. I guess I just see it as strictly a beginner vehicle, that's why I compared it to the other SCT's, since more are sold as bashers than racers. I'll be interested to see what you do with it.
I’ve been in RC since 1980, here’s my take the argument about the rear diff is a mute point, why because not everyone is going race and this setup will work just as good as an independent. The nostalgia guys like the simplicity and it’s tough it’s an RC car it’s going to bash these were never meant to be perfect in terms of scale they come close for looks but are built to function.
The RCNetwork whAT is MOA please tell me and what is DOA and FIS and stuff
Elijah Daniel Motor on Axle (moa)
When I saw that stick pack battery and MOA I had to check the year this was posted. Come on Kyosho this is 2017.
Only if it were 4wd
Drewz Rc Check out the Vetta Karoo. It's 4wd and more durable
unless its cheap, that rear axle design totally kills this truck ):
Matty's Garage 149.99 right now at rcplanet.com
I dont like the redesign. They should have kept it old school .tamiya doesnt revamp their re releases.
I wish kyosho would re release usa 1. Double bare big brute hi rider vette. And the raider buggy
Dont love the way the chassis looks. To me it looks toyish
Orion is rebadging goolrc elecs now. Never buy orion elecs. Pay less with the oem version usually hobbywing.
nice video, not a fan of the vehicle though
Was gonna look it up to buy before I finished the video till I seen the MOA. That ruined the whole truck. Smh kyosho.
Moa. No thanks
Lost me at moa.
Same, what were they thinking? It looks like some kind of '90s Nikko toy design...
actually its semi cool, puts the weight of the motor centered over the axle and low. traction! oh yeah.... body is too old school though for me.
Someone at Kyosho got a Lunchbox to copy...
It’s a more practical design. I like the looks of a chassis mounted motor but there is no reason for a solid axle electric vehicle.
Lawnmowerdude there is plenty of call for solid axle electrics.. check out Solid Axle Monster Mayhem group on Facebook. Plenty of nice solid axles there.
It's a miss in my opinion. It lost me as soon as you said 2wd.
Not a fan of it. That rear axle kills it
They ruined it with the moa axle.
jaya neyon maybe to some bit it makes it different. I kinda like it.
I don't see a market for a 2wd truck.
