I'm a big fan of trophy trucks and I have the Hpi Mini Trophy, which aren't the best handling RC, but they look so scale and I can't help but love them. To the point that I bought another one when I saw it on Ebay lol. I've had my eye on these Kyosho's since they first came out. They also look very scale, and so retro cool too. So I finally decided to get one and ordered the Pro kit. It's been reduced in price quite a bit over here I the UK since the announcement about the new Pro RTR. I already have a 15T brushed motor and a Traxxas XL5 esc I can use and I'm really looking forward to building it. Thank you very much for the advice about filling the gaps around the motor and gearbox. That's extremely useful and I will do that when I build it. Stay safe my friend. All the best from Derek, aka Holly Hill RC 😀👍🏻👍🏻
Hey Derek, thanks for the comment! I've noticed the pricing on these trucks drop significantly! Everyone need so go buy one! Haha! Hope you enjoy it, my friend. Looking forward to your running video! 🤙
Thanks for watching! I've added a couple mods and more running vids on this chassis. Just scroll through my video list and you'll see them. The truck really comes to life when I add the rear roll cage. 🤙
Glad to see the truck making a return on the channel my friend. Took mine out yesterday. Installed a light bar and a proline toyota tundra body as the blue one is a shelf queen. I've got some piggyback shocks but wondering what oil to use. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you again for your help so far. Looking forward to seeing your channel grow and what you have in store for us all.
Hey buddy, glad to hear you're enjoying your Rampage! In my videos my shocks are 100% stock. With the current setup, I plan on stiffening up my front shocks. I haven't dove in there yet to see how many hole pistons are on them, but I'll start by reducing the holes, and putting in a slightly thicker oil, then test from there. The front end bottoms out pretty quickly now that the truck is hooking up. Lots more to come! Thanks for watching! 👊😁👊
Interesting to hear your feedback on this platform, I had issues as well with the transmission gears. Mine were all chewed up as well. My assumption is that the manufacturer didn't fully screw in the axle assembly. I also didnt know that the RTR version came with bushings instead of bearings. The pro kit comes with full ball bearings all around. Awesome mods on your Rampage, I may have a clue on what "stock kyosho part you're getting" might be the back cage with the spare tire. Might want to add a light bar like mine that's your preference only my suggestion. Good stuff my friend.😎🤘🏻 Edit: forgot to mention, the pro kit has a metal skid plate under the rear axle. That may also help protect your motor and big hits from the axle.
Hey buddy, you nailed it! I've got the rear cage on order. When I watch your Rampage Pro video, your rear suspension works so nicely... That cage makes a world of difference. I thought about building my own skid plate, maybe I should now that the rear suspension works! Haha! Stay safe my friend, and keep the videos coming! 👊🤘
I think I’m pretty decided on getting this truck. I just need to buy some bike stuff first, really been neglecting that. I can’t wait to see what you do with this truck. Now I know why you call yourself poor boy rc, you have so many of them. Take it easy
great race! What maximum speed could we obtain without damaging differentials and transmission? Can I go 23-24 mph without fear of sweeping gears? Cheers
Hi buddy great videos on this learn some stuff I didn't know watched them all now. Got the shocks in ebay cart already haha Just wondering which fast edd set did you use as there's three different ones ??? Rtr pro set Rtr set kit pro set 🤙
Hey Joel thanks for watching! Glad you like the videos! I went with the RTR set. Helps tremendously as the front bushings have high resistance and the tail end of the truck gets squirrely trying to push it around! Have fun bashing, my man! 🤙
Thanks Jesse, glad you enjoy the videos! The lights up front are spare buckets I just had laying in my parts bin off an old eBay light bar that I dismantled. :)
I'm still running the stock servo saver. Only issue is that occasionally sand gets into the steering mechanism and binds things up. A more powerful servo may remedy this, but I haven't really felt it was necessary just yet. 👊
Hello! Thanks for the input! How about the quality of this truck? What is the maximum speed with the esc and stock battery? in its most economical version? how about the chassis? what is the difference between the most basic, and the pro version? advantages and disadvantages? I feel that the body ... hits the chassis in the jumps! a hug!
@@dontdoit6403 I have to say though, the Rampage is a super fun truck to drive! It handles and jumps really well, especially with the rear cage and spare tires on the back. Very cost-friendly too!
Not too sure pal, my RTR came with plastic transmission gears and from what I hear the Pro version comes with metal gears. I ran a quick Google search and didn't come up with anything, might need to call Kyosho to get it. 👊
Liked and sub! Awesome truck I really wanna get one, watched your teardown video, I was thinking maybe some electric tape wrapped around the the motor over the gaps would keep the sand out of the gearbox?
I used tire-foam to fill the hole around the motor. The hole is oblong, so it's nice to have something soft that conforms to odd shapes, like foam does. Works great so far!
Hi thanks for your video, I have one also and I confirm that with a 2S it’s a completly different truck. I am looking to find better tyres could you please share which tyres you bougth?
Yeah I'm running the truck on 2S in all my videos. The tires I just installed are RC4WD Sem Limites 1.9. They're very soft, and very sticky! Also running a set of stamped steel beadlock wheels, which help add weight down low, and keep the truck planted to the ground. 😊
Nope, that's 2S. It's so much faster with this new setup! It's way more planted, not constantly "diffing-out" with every turn. Like I said in the video, it's like a totally different truck!
Hi William. Yes this kit is way too fast for a 3 Y/O. My 42 year old friend had trouble driving it on the weekend! Lol! Try looking at a crawler for your child. They're slower, 4WD, and built very tough! 🤙

Fantastic! Glad you enjoyed it all, my friend! More to come, I promise!!! 👊🤙👊
Interesting design with the motor on the axle. That's a great running video.

great race! What maximum speed could we obtain without damaging differentials and transmission? Can I go 23-24 mph without fear of sweeping gears? Cheers

Oh definitely! I'm now running a 4300kv brushless system, doing over 40mph with no issues. 👊
Great traction and handling for a 2wd!
Absolutely! I'm sure sway bars would help it out, but I really enjoy the body roll. 👊🍻

Really like all the in-depth videos 🤙🏼 What kind of LED system are you running upfront? I can’t seem to find any that would fit.

Did you need to upgrade the stock servo saver? I felt that getting the optional servo saver (part number olw002) is a must.

The motor on the axle is like a tyco car. What were they thinking
Kinda reminds me of a Clod Buster. 🤣
@@poorboysrc baja rey wont land a jump udr too expensive and rampage has a motor on axle. I feel lost. Fid truck cost 2k🤣🤣

@@poorboysrc For sure man!
How do you clean your rc cars
Just like this: ua-cam.com/video/kkP9PTLSv7U/v-deo.html
That motor swinging around back there pretty much ruled out brushless me thinks.
After adding the rear cage and extra tires, it handles much better. I dropped a Spektrum Firma 3800kv bl system in it and it's a beast now!
Do you run it on 3s?
Nope, that's 2S. It's so much faster with this new setup! It's way more planted, not constantly "diffing-out" with every turn. Like I said in the video, it's like a totally different truck!

Is this too fast for 3y old to play with ? All cheap kids toys are broken easily and they are not worth any money

The RTR is better then the kit
RTR is an incredible value! 🤙
this video is impossible to watch without getting sick due to the shaking footage. (thumbs down)
Yeah some of my early stuff was pretty dodgy. Hey, we all started somewhere. It gets better, believe me! 😁👊
