      Prime Autotainment I like the exterior appearance and dislike the automatic transmission through FWD (assuming its auto)

      Yes it’s automatic. 6 speed auto.
      Thanks for the input! Bummer you can’t get a manual with the turbo or AWD/RWD

    • @t.k.morris
      @t.k.morris 5 років тому +2

      Biggest dislike is that the manual transmission is not available in all trim lines. And why not available with the new turbo motor in any trim? I may end up buying the Mazda3 instead of the Mazda6 just for the trim level options for the manual transmission or another brand altogether.

      ...is the best looking. Can't think of anything under $40k that looks better. Audi, BMW and Merc all have some appeal to them but overall I think the Mazda is the best looking and most cohesive design.

    This car is really desirable. The great thing about this brand - and this car as a whole - is that it represents that luxury doesn’t have to come without reliability. It really builds up a case versus actual luxury brands trying to sell you unreliable crap on the basis that it’s what you gotta do to have the best car; the best luxury. Now you can have what is considered one of the sportiest cars in its segment, with luxury, with reliability, and nice touches such as actually having full LED taillights and headlights. Love it!

      What I can't understand is how does Mazda get away with this whilst all the other japanese brands look just barely good enough? And it's not even like this signature is SUPER pricey. I was quoted 34K with the mazda loyalty deduction (my mother owns a Mazda so they were gonna discount the 6 for me). All they need to do is get a half decent backup camera quality and maybe 360° quality too... then smack on some optional bigger tires and wham you're gucc. I forgot to test the Bose sound system on my test drive 👩‍🎓 I'm sure it's just as good or better than my Altima's bose system

      Devon Gee I honestly believe the big players know exactly what they can put out, while still satisfying their following, while saving the most amount of money. That’s the only reason I can understand a car like the RAV4, selling as muchas it does, while having an incredibly cheap looking and feeling interior, with switch wear as dated as a Sequoia. It is mind boggling. But it’s clear that people are more concerned with brand image than the actual vehicle. This car is a perfect value, and reliability alternative, but Mazda just doesn’t have the following. Better for the people that do want one though - you can get a great deal on a preowned Mazda 6.

    • @st.thomas5802
      @st.thomas5802 5 років тому +2

      Exactly-Mazda reliability and practility with a little sport and a healthy dose of luxury. The 2018 fixed all my complaints about the previous model and kept it great looking unlike the Honda Accord.

      Line Updates great points and I agree. And those Altima Bose systems are shockingly good even if I don't miss the rest of the car too much (had an 06) but not sure the stereo is better in the 6, probably equal but different good from having listened to both.

    I have had the GT Reserve for five months now. There is a lot that is great about this car, so it's tough to pick just a few things. I would mention the incredibly comfortable seats, and the quality leather they are wrapped in. I also love the overall design of the interior; it is simple and functional, yet elegant and upscale. The exterior design has been around for quite a while, but it is standing the test of time and far exceeds what is offered by the competition. The small details that were added this year, like the new grill, taillights, and exhaust tips, take an already great design to the next level. Enthusiasts have grown accustom to the 6 offering a great balance with its chassis dynamics, but that must still be included in a list of likes. It also has been improved significantly with the 2018 model, with the suspension and tire changes. It really is one of the best touring cars available right now.
    There is always room for criticism when evaluating an automobile. I don't know of any endeavor in engineering that involves more compromise. The issues I have with the Mazda 6 are minor and mostly understandable, given the compromises made. I would like tires that are more performance oriented, but that's because I prefer cornering capabilities over absorbing the impact from road imperfections. The 6 is one of the best highway cruisers I've ever driven, and that's largely due to the tires that were engineered with Falken specifically for this car. I think the brakes could be better, but I have to wonder if different tires would have a substantial impact on that (with the cost of more road noise and rougher handling). The infotainment system is just adequate, but I recently got the upgrade that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It works really well, so any concerns about the native Mazda system are irrelevant now. I do have to agree that using the cup holders blocks the ability to access the infotainment control knob, but I still think it is the best compromise for the overall interior layout. I also think cup holders should be near the bottom of the list of what's critical when designing an interior.
    For the past few days, I have been driving a loaner 2017 Mazda 6 while my car is being serviced. I have realized that the seemingly incremental changes to the 2018 are substantial overall. The turbocharged engine, new heads-up display, upgraded interior, minor exterior design changes, and chassis modifications all combine to make a very noticeable difference. If you test drive a model prior to the 2018 and are only marginally impressed, make sure you check out the 2018 for comparison. It is substantially improved.

      Jay, thanks for all the input! This was a great read. I appreciate you taking the time and your absolutely right s our this car being impressive, especially with the changes for 2018. I have a 2014 6 Touring with the same size 19 inch wheels. I have upgraded the tire to BF Goodrich Comp 2 upsided at 245/45-19.
      They are both quieter, smoother, and far grippier, somehow compared to the stock Dunlop tires for that model year. I can accelerate from a stop with far less wheelspin and can corner harder than ever. While the Dunlops are notorious for hydroplaning and poor braking in wet and light snow conditions, these are far more superiot.
      The only tradeoff is 2-4 MPG loss which is pretty huge. I used to average 34 MPG mixed....i now get 30 if i am lucky. I have 80k miles so perhaps it is a matter of the engine being less efficient now, despite doing the DeCarb Clean process offered by the dealer and a full tune up with spark plugs. From a safety (and enthusiast) perspective the MPG drop off is worth it to me
      I would only truly know if i were to put the stock dunlops on.
      Nevertheless, for a true performance upgrade perhaps you may want to look into the Comp2's.
      Just my 0.02c

    • @jaymerringer2933
      @jaymerringer2933 5 років тому

      Thanks for the suggestion and the details on how the Comp 2 tires perform. I am curious if the gas mileage change is entirely attributable to the tires; it seems more significant than I would expect. Mazda is also allegedly considering a dealer-installed summer tire option, so it will be interesting to see what they choose for that.

    I just got my soul red mazda6 GT turbo last week and LOVE IT!!!!
    My likes: One touch auto power windows on all 4 windows, walk away door lock, my sunroof, comfort!! My dislike is the cup holder in the way of the control knob also, the trunk won’t unlock with a finger push (have to open with fob or from inside the car...unless there’s something I’m missing....other than that I LOVE my mazda6!! Great video!!!

      That’s great! Good choice 😉. Thanks for the input, it’s nice to hear other people’s likes and dislikes. As for the trunk thing, I thought if you had the fob on you, it should automatically unlock when you push the pad under the trunk lid. Maybe not..interesting though. Ya just gotta be like “hey Siri, open the trunk” haha maybe someday.

    Now you have 49 likes without a single dislike. Why dislike this car? It is beautiful premium interior with 360 degrees camera, Apple car play/ Android auto and lots of safety features plus the new turbo engine with 250hp. Yes, there's no perfect car even the Germans can't make it. For me this is the best in this segment....

      The main problem with this Mazda is the brand new turbo charged engine. You never know how reliable it is until 3-4-5 years down the road. How does the dreaded direct injection function? Any petrol oil delution, which has plagued similar Honda engines recently? Etc etc. I do not care if the rear camera resolution is not up to scratch tbh, the engine long term reliability these days is the main problem.

    • @PrimeAutotainment

    Purchased a 2018 Mazda 6 Signature (same color and interior) in July. Overall a wonderful car, especially since my previous car was 12 years old and the tech/amenities have come a very long way in that time. Some minor and one major dislike (some are similar). 1) camera resolution, 2) takes a long time to defrost windows, 3) cup holder location, 4) no wireless charging, 5) nav. system is poor (I will soon have Apple Car Play), 6) the major one is that the front wheels can't handle all the power and torque. Results in a loss of grip and much noise if the gas is depressed hard. Some likes: 1) the best looking mid-sized sedan (IMHO), 2) Soul Crystal Red Paint, 3) Very nice upscale interior, again best in class (IMHO) 4) In spite of the grip problems, the horsepower and torque, 5) tech (radar cruise, lane departure, adaptive lighting, etc.), 6) ventilated seats. Like my two previous cars, I will probably have this car for 12 years and then be using an autonomous car.

    I have owned a 2018 Mazda 6 for about five months now. It is such a pleasure to drive. Seats are very comfortable. The cooled seat function is amazing. I’d definitely recommend buying one. My only real complaint is the infotainment sound quality seems kind of average (except for the high definition radio which is pretty great). I also generally leave off some of the “automatic features” like auto dimming headlights and the auto wipers. The distance sensing cruise control is cool. Highly recommended car in my opinion

    Answering your dislikes:
    1) Steering wheel is only heated between 1:00-4:00 and 8:00-10:00 because those are the ideal hand positions for driving. Mazda is esentially forcing you to have better control
    2) 360 cam resolution is bad. No getting around that
    3) This seems like it would be an issue with any vehicle with a rotary controller, but easily remedied by using the bottle holders in the doors for tall bottles. And for connections, they are specifically placed to be in the center console to avoid a mess of cords running through your shifter and command controller area.
    4) The Multi information display is not meant to display navigation or audio; one of the key design aspects is to avoid and eliminate distractions for the driver, keeping that with only pertinent vehicle information. In the Active Driving Display, you are able to see navigation if you so choose.
    5) Everyone is different with seating position, but I am 5'10" and have never had that issue.
    Nice follow up review!

    Finally??!! I own this car without the Turbo and it is not a slow car. These reviewers are so used to driving Ferraris and Porsches that they lose their perspective on what fast is. Notice that they put a turbo in the car and it did NOT improve sales. More speed isn't the sales elixir that they would have you believe.

    • @PrimeAutotainment
      @PrimeAutotainment  4 роки тому

      I only say that because other manufacturers were offering more powerful options. Personally, I wouldn’t buy the turbo. I’ve also never driven a Porsche or Ferrari and this isn’t even a review.
      Mazda our the turbo in to compete with others in the class that offer more powerful options knowing very well that the turbo wasn’t going to be a big seller.

    I LOVE my GTR that I've had since June. My FAVORITE aspect is the front end look. The wheel wells, the grille, the sleek attitude of "test my torquiness" just eats the Accords that I work with and the totally hangs with the uber aggressive Camry. My dislike is the door sound. You can hear where Mazda sacrificed some higher end refinement for the price. Have not hit my head yet and I'm 6'.

    I owned 2006 mazda6 now and this is my 4th mazda I bought so far.. I am addicted to drive mazda. My friends and family dont understand patient and keep laughing at me for my mazda obsession :). I always tell them "do you believe in love at first sight" :) In my country it will take long time to buy new mazda because of incredibly high price and feeling very sorry and jeaolusy when watchin these US and Canadian made mazda videos how lucky you are getting such quaility and amazing car with affordable amount of prices. The only thing I was complaining about my mazdas' are wind and road noises. How about you car? Is it Ok? Did they finally made it as German cars? Thanks for good video and do not pay attention for small things you dont like in the car and know the value of your beautiful boy.. I am sure you will get used to it to not smack your head :) greetings form Turkey.

      Greetings to you in Turkey! I totally understand your obsession with Mazda, they are very impressive cars and are great for driving. For this 2018 model they made changes to make it quieter and it’s supposed to be quieter than most of the competition and I think they are right...it was definitely quieter than the Mazda3 I drive earlier this year. Thanks for writing in and I hope you continue to enjoy your 2006 Mazda6! 👍

    I'm 6 foot and never hit my head. My biggest complaint is the plastic around the passenger side's feet is really brittle and can hook onto shoes and bags easily. Already had it break in two spots.
    Love the car in every other way though.

    I drive a '17.5 touring trim with manual and my big dislike is that for '18, the manual is not available with the turbo and now relegated to the sport trim only - not available with touring (N/A) as I was able to get. Mine also didn't come with heated side mirrors, which I find to be quite dangerous here in the North East, but at least the heated front seats are nice on cold mornings. The likes for this car through far outweigh any dislikes for me - amazing gas mileage, build quality, looks and overall driving dynamics suits me perfectly.

      @PrimeAutotainment  5 років тому

      That’s a great point. I was surprised to see that. I agree on the likes outweighing dislikes. It’s a great car. Glad to hear your thoughts and your experience with your Mazda! 👍

    • @modmatt1
      @modmatt1 5 років тому

      Thanks. I should mention that although no heated mirrors, it did come with Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) so I get visual warning light plus audio if I use blinker and someone is there, but if fogged/iced over, I can't see down the road - say when pulling out curbside and you want to make sure no one is coming up the road quickly. I would easily trade BSM for proper heated mirrors and embedded blind spot mirrors as you see on many Fords for example.

    • @PrimeAutotainment
      @PrimeAutotainment  5 років тому

      Yeah those embedded blind spot mirrors are nice for sure. Work really well..even to make sure you don’t curb check lol (but attachable ones for my wife 😅).
      That’s really crazy they aren’t heated, dang.

      They are by Falken, and they are based on a model that was originally designed for SUVs. Mazda worked with them to adapt an existing product specifically for the 2018 model, according to Motor Trend:
      www.motortrend.com/cars/mazda/mazda6/2018/2018-mazda6-signature-25t-first-test-review/
      They probably offer a good compromise of performance, fuel economy, quietness (a priority for the 2018), and smoothness on the highway, but they really need to offer a performance oriented version for those who want it. Mazda has said they are considering that as a dealer installed option.

      In Australia, they are fitted with Bridgestone Turanza's. Pick my Soul Red Atenza (Signature) up next week :)
      www.bobjane.com.au/a/225-45r19-tyres/bridgestone/turanza-t005-225-45r19-92w/10285
      When I need new tyres I'll probably get Bridgestone Potenza's. Surely the rim would take 245's?

    Hahaha when I test drove the Mazda 6 i could tell just looking at it that I'd have to take caution in my approach to embarking the car xD at 6'1" I managed to avoid the head smackin'. Didn't buy the car though. BEAUTIFUL ride but yeah the camera quality and guages are kinda unforgivable... also the tires suck? Or maybe I'm just not used to how turbo cars work

      Haha I bet, I’d be decapitated if I was 6’1”. Ya get used to it though.
      The weird thing is the tires aren’t as wide as some other cars so that might be part of it and yeah not the greatest that’s for sure. Maybe think about changing them out early

    I thought it was just me being tall and fat but I hit my head on that door several times also when doing a test drive/look over. I went and tried the new Accord to see if it was just me and I had no troubles. As much as I like the Mazda6 (we own a new CX9), I think this would be a deal breaker for me....sadly......

    Prime Autotainment, thank you for this video. It’s really useful. I am thinking of buying a Grand Touring Mazda 6 (signature is a little above my budget). I have two concerns though. Is this car as reliable as Toyota and Honda? And also, when I decide to sell does it loose its value more than other brands?

    • @PrimeAutotainment
      @PrimeAutotainment  5 років тому +5

      Glad to hear it! The grand touring still really gives you a lot! That’s a good question...lately Honda has had problems with oil/fuel mixing in the engine in the 1.5 turbos, haven’t heard of it on the 2.0 though.
      Since Toyota still has a naturally aspirated V6 I’d imagine that would maybe be more reliable, but so hard to tell. I’ve heard of 8 speed auto problems on the Highlander and Camry though.
      As for resale...hard to say. Historically Honda and Toyota have been better but the materials/design of this car might stand the test of time better. I guess it will depend on how the power trains hold up...wish I could help more!

    • @st.thomas5802
      @st.thomas5802 5 років тому +1

      Andres Rodriguez Yes, this car is in the same category of reliability though the turbo engine reliability is still yet unknown and probably less than that of a Camry V6 I wouldn't be concerned. It'll probably be equal to the Accord but I think the quality of the Mazda is is higher than both overall.

    • @keyframex
      @keyframex 5 років тому +2

      If CarComplaints (and NHTSA) is to be believed, both Hondas and Toyotas seem to be going downhill in terms of reliability/quality. 2018 CR-V with fuel leaking into oil. 2018 Accord with random self-braking. 2018 Camry with takes-literally-2-full-seconds-to-downshift auto transmission (I experienced this myself on Camry XSE V6 when I took it for a test drive). Hopefully these are just "first year after redesign blues," but unacceptable nonetheless.

      Two best cars you can buy for $30k or less. Choose the Mazda if you value comfort and prefer sedans and the GTI if you prefer sport and speed and need hatchback utility. Ideally, choose both like my wife and I plan to do in the next year and have the best of both worlds!😁

    They seem to have an issue with the cameras they buy; I hear complaints about the quality of those on the 3 and the MX-5, also.
    They're beautiful cars, and no one will agree with me on this, but I think they've overpowered the 6. I was interested in it, but to get the features I want, I'd have to get lower mpg and more wheel-spin, and I just gave up on it.
