My father bought me a brand new 1990 Mazda 626 Sedan (2.2 litre Automatic) in Prestige Silver Metallic back in 1990 when l was 18 years old. It's now 32 years old and has been my daily driver for all those years ..... It has surpassed 310,000 miles (500,000 + kilometres!!!!!). It still drives like new and l have never had a problem with it in 32 years! People cannot believe it when they see it. Adore it beyond belief! I recently purchased a brand new Mazda 3 sedan, imported from Japan. I had to wait 8 months for it to arrive in Melbourne, Australia (ordered it in March!!) ..... the car is breathtaking, gorgeous, elegant, classy ..... and premium. I am thrilled! I intend to drive both my old Mazda 626 and my new Mazda 3 ..... will never part with either.

@@MrPoopster5621 Mazdas have good steering, good speakers and a lot of features for the mid-level model. Our last 3 buys are all CX-5s, one new and 2 with 5 to 10 thousand miles used. I just got a 22 CX-30 Premium 3K on the clock for 29K inc Fees and Taxes and I absolutely LOVE it. It has everything I could possibly want in a car and some. Love the fact it has a standard transmission and a normally aspirated engine. 0-60 I could not care about but it has plenty of power for me. A to B in comfort and style and we get about 31 MPG. @@teamskdm1 you’re never going to see a V6 in a small crossover again. Those days are long gone. Just be glad it’s a gasoline non turbo I4 with a real transmission not a CVT.
After having 9 Hondas, I bought Mazda 2024 CX-30. There are 6 models to choose from. 3 with no turbo engine and 3 without. I chose no turbo because of a bad experience with the CRV turbo. I really am impressed with Mazda. There are a few features I wish it did have but all in all it's quieter on the road and good gas mileage the more I drive it. Very nice interior. For the price, in my local area you would not get a Honda for the features. Mazda is a quite secret. I do consider it a 2 person car for the best comfort of space however. Very happy with my purchase.
I had Mazdas years ago, a 4x4 B2600 and an MX-5...both were excellent cars with no issues ever. I switched to Toyotas but have been considering going back to Mazda. My latest Toyotas and Lexus vehicles were a little disappointing, seems like their build quality isn't what they used to be

I have a 2020 CX-30 (Select model) and I've been very happy with it, after being a Honda person for years. After 77K miles, I have never had a problem and get over 34 MPG (2-wheel drive). One main point for my choice of Mazda was that they have not gone to the CVT as Honda and Toyota have. They also offer many features as standard and have a better quality interior for the price. I especially like the controls for navigation, entertainment, etc., where you don't use a touchscreen but have the controls on your right side, so you don't have to take your eyes off the road. Since I bought this, they have added a turbo model, but I wouldn't be interested since I get all of the performance I could want out of the standard four-cylinder.
Scotty, have had a Mazda 3, bought new in 2015, runs like a champ It now has 167,000 miles on it, no problems ever, great gas mileage, it has a 2.0 liter engine, still 32 mpg on the highway. Mazda’s are underrated.
I just bought a CX-30 Select model a couple months ago and love it! I'm averaging 29.7 mpg driving in Denver. It's a fun car and feels a lot more expensive than I paid!
Been saying this for the past few years. Mazda makes fantastic vehicles now! A relative of mine bought the new Mazda 3, no issues whatsoever for 3 years until he got it exchanged for the CX-5. And so far after a few years, he still hasn't had any issues which is great! When I'm able to buy a car, I'm definitely considering the Mazda 3 or the CX-5 if I cave in for something bigger :D
I purchased a 2019 Mazda3 hatch with 17k miles on it about a month ago because I changed careers and needed something more gas friendly. I absolutely love this vehicle. Extremely comfortable, good gas mileage, feels like I’m driving a luxury vehicle for half the price. I opted for the non-turbo engine bc I don’t need the extra power just the comfort. My wife also loves her 2019 Mazda CX-9. We are proud and happy Mazda owners.
We had a 1991 Mazda Protege in the 90’s that lasted at least 175,000 moles and was running well when traded in. Never had any major problems. Just cost of maintenance.
I bought a 2021 Mazda6 Carbon Edition last year. Now with 30k miles. Other than the terrible OEM rotors which I had to replace recently, and some oil leak which was fixed under warranty, I absolutely love this vehicle! Best bang for the buck ever. All the luxury features for $33k. It's also a beautiful car!
I have a 2017 mazda 3 and my front rotors always warp half way thru the life of the pads. Other than that 140k miles with only battery replacements and fluid changes
@@DrJuggyhead Absolutely. A vehicle with 30k miles is pretty close to new. You should have zero problems. An oil leak that early on is a sign of poor quality overall in workmanship. And you should be concerned about what else might crop up after the warranty runs out.
Mazda makes great cars, period! I have previously owned a (purchased new) 2005 Mazda 3 (for 8 years), and a (purchased new) 2014 Mazda 6 (for 5 years). I currently own a (purchased new) 2019 Mazda CX-5 Signature. All 3 cars ran/are running flawlessly. All I have ever had to do with any of my Mazdas is regular maintenance and a little TLC. My brother had a Mazda RX-7 back in the 80's, that he drove the wheels off of, and he never had a single issue with that car either. I will always be a loyal Mazda fan, as the cars and company have served me very well over the years. 👍👍
I have a 2021 CX30 and love it. I was coming off of 3 Infiniti's in a row and was super happy with them. I didn't think I could "downgrade " and be happy, but I'm really enjoying it. It's fun to drive and provides more functional utility for me, plus in an attractive package.

My 2010 mazda 3 with 200k miles still running clean , only thing i did was an oil change twice a year . 🔥 Mazda be putting the work diss couple years no lie
I feel like Mazda and Subaru are the compromise where you want something fun or stylish but still sensible. My first car was an 08 Mazda 3 and it handled extremely well and even now looks like it can blend right in with modern cars, outside and inside. I drive a Subaru Forester XT now but I'm considering grabbing a cheap Mazdaspeed 3 as a hobby car.
I have a 2017 Mazda CX-5, front-drive (I don't don't go offroad and almost never drive it when it snows, and here in St Louis, MO we don't get a lot snow relatively speaking), and it is a great vehicle. My only criticism is that too much (like changing radio stations) is done via the infotainment system. I've noticed that with other cars as well - seems like too much is being put into the infotainment systems; automakers, please bring back radio buttons ...).
I got a 2021 CX-5 Grand Touring and a 2022 Highlander. I prefer the Mazda over the Highlander by far. The CX-5s are built in Japan and have that silky smooth 6 speed and the regular aspirated 2.5.
I bought my Mazda with the manual, because at the time I still could 😂 but I test drove the automatic version and yeah the modern Mazda automatics are really REALLY good too. My understanding is they couple a fluid torque converter AND an electronic clutch on some models. Very crisp but still extremely smooth
2018 CX 5 Grand touring 50k oil change, tires , battery 34 MPG winter, 37 MPG summer highway 95% amazing, just amazing, premium package adaptive cruise control that comes to complete stop and restart automatically, makes life much easier. Love it.
I have a 2021 Mazda 3 Sport - it wasn’t 24k or anything like it but it’s lovely, great fun and a really really goodlooking car. It’s my second Mazda and I’m delighted to see that Scotty approves
Your videos are part of the reason I bought my new 23 Mazda3 Hatchback. You sold me with how often you praise Mazda. 200 miles deep into it and I'm in love! Coming from a pickup truck, I was very hesitant.. But I fell in love with this Mazda instantly. Feels safe, it's fun to drive, handles great, and it's pretty quick! Also, the interior is amazing! Feels luxurious, without the huge price tag. Hope to drive this thing for the next several years
I currently drive a (UK spec) 2018 Mazda 2 which is Japanese built. It's been great over the last four years. No issues at all. Wouldn't mind swapping for a CX-30 or a 3 though.
@@schwenda3727 Yes all Mazda's (in the UK at least) are Japan sourced. Same with Subaru and Honda these days. Toyota's different though. The Corolla is made in the UK, the Yaris comes from France, and the CHR from Turkey.
I have a 21 CX30 Preferred awd with 19k miles on it and it's been a great car. I'm averaging 34 mpg and it blasts through snow very well. I paid more because I wanted the higher trim level and sunroof but you really do get alot for the money.
We have 3 Mazda's in my family. 2016 CX-5, 2017 & 2018 Mazda3. Never a single issue with any of them. Love my Mazda's! A friend of ours, knowing full well how great our cars are still went out and helped his brother buy a used Kia! You'll be sorry!
I have Mazda CX 30, over 100k miles, haven’t had a single issue and these cars drive like a dream. My combined mpg is 29 which I’m very happy for. I test drove some Toyotas before I got Mazda but couldn’t justify the price tag and the fact that they did not drive well. eight speed automatic in the Camry is all over the place and really not enjoyable. RAV4 had a horrible sound insulation and everything inside was so cheap. The only one that I liked was new Corolla but I could not be happier with my CX-30. In this price range there is nothing that even gets close to Mazdas quality and performance.
Just bought a brand new '23 CX-30 back in July and I couldnt be happier with it! Amazing amount of power for a 4-cylinder AWD vehicle. And i got the preferred trim level package so its extremely nice inside.
I absolutely LOVE my 2020 Mazda 3 hatchback. And it was made in Japan. Couldn’t be more pleased. I love that it has an actual 6 speed transmission and none of that CVT nonsense
This is the Mazda cx 30 2.5 litre AWD version. Wish we got these in South Africa. I got a Mazda cx 3 2.0 dynamic , it was shipped from Japan to SA. But we don't get them in AWD drive or in bigger engines here but I must admit they are solid cars. Very nice naturally aspirated engines
My last Toyota ownership experience was pretty disappointing (2020 Corolla SE Sedan), so I traded it in for my first Mazda on 2/2/2022 (2022 CX-30 Carbon Edition). No problems to report (unlike my Corolla) & I'm happy that I made the switch from Toyota (which has lapsed in their quality/craftsmanship).
I bought a 2022 Mazda3 select in February to have as my year round car while the BMW in is storage for the winter. It’s made in Japan and I love it. The price was reasonable and the dealer sold it 500$ below sticker. It handles great, plenty of pep and fun to drive. A little bumpy over our RI roads but who cares.
@@daveanaru3038 Thanks for your advice Dave, the BMW is a 2014 hard top convertible with 53,000 miles. I love it for the summer but I keep it off the salted RI roads in the winter but do run it occasionally for some exercise. I get monthly offers from the BMW dealer wanting to buy the car, it really is a beautiful automobile but so costly to maintain.
I ended up buying the larger version, the CX-50 that's assembled in the Huntsville Alabama plant. I ended up splurging for the premium plus but I didn't get the turbo. It's larger than the CX-30 but has the same comforts. I want it to last a long time with it being my first new car. I've seen over 32mpg on the highway and the radio setup was definitely part of the reason I chose me vehicle. It's less to look at, less busy on the eyes yet the radio is very intuitive once you figure it out.
Just bought 2022 Mazda CX-30 Preferred AWD 2 weeks ago and we love it. Easy drive around, very good zoom zoom and great features worth purchased. Satisfied purchased also our first brand new vehicle. 🎉❤
I have a 2022 Mazda 3 built in Japan and I’m loving it. Hey Scotty when you are back in TN I’ll drive up to Clarksville so you can review a true import.
I rented a MZda cx30 for a week on vacation and enjoyed driving if so much I wanted to hear what Scotty thought about this car. Mine had no turbo and a real transmission. It is a small car, but was comfortable and fun to drive with lots of power and a smooth drivetrain. There is a decent amount of cargo space with the rear seat down. The build quality is excellent. The fuel economy could be better but it is awd.
I recently bought a Mazda CX30 made in Japan. A 2 litre engine! I love it! Fun to drive, great acceleration and great fuel economy. I watched a lot of UA-cam videos regarding the pro's and cons of the CX-30. One major complain was the leg room (space) no issue for me as I am 5'4", my mom is 5'1" and my sister is 5'2". So it's quite spacious for all of us! I am avoiding CVT transmission cars like the plague but so far I am more than satisfied with my CX-30.
I got a cx-5 because of the comments I read here about Mazda (here, and edmunds). I would have never through about a Mazda. I’ve had it for 2.5 years and I still love driving it every time. I couldn’t think about rav4 due to cost and I didn’t want a cvt transmission (although I understand toyota has eCVT? Do I have that right?). It has dials and knobs, mostly. It has fantastic heating and cooling. It was easy to drive from the test drive. I love it. Zoom zoom.
I also bought a Mazda (CX-30) because of finding one of Scottie’s videos about them early in my search. Just like you I never even considered Mazda but now couldn’t be more thrilled with my purchase. I was a Toyota guy.
My Subaru AWD was manufactured in Japan. It was $25k brand new. I averaged 29.5mpg on a recent trip. It’s also a 2.5 liter 4 cylinder And I’ve got studded snow tires on it. It has 74.7 cubic ft of storage space behind the drivers seat.
But the Mazda won't fall apart and the transmissions are far superior. We have a guy at work that is on his 3rd NEW Outback in 2 years. One engine failed and one had so many rattles he couldn't stand it. Another coworkers CrossTrek has loose parts everywhere and one trans failure.
I live overseas and I have a Cx -5 built in japan. Probably one of the last ones that got shipped outside since everything seems to be built outside of Japan. I probably won't ever get rid of it.
Great review. I got one over here in Europe, 2L engine 122 hp, still not bad at all. If there is anything I don't like, then it's the cylinder deactivation, which you will not feel unless you run at around 1500-1800rpm in the 5-6 gear. Also, the bouncy ride is something which is a downgrade compared to my old compact car. I hope I get used to that, because it is a really beautiful car with a nice handling and gorgeous interior.
I don’t know about the US but in Australia, most Mazda dealers here is a pain to deal with when something goes wrong. There had been a few cases which had resorted to court. Same goes with the Korean’s Kia & Hyundai, despite massive stride for the past few years, their Dealership’s handle of warranty is trash. You would rarely hear anything about Toyota here stranding their customers when it comes to warranty. That’s why Australians still buy lots of Toyota even though prices are absolute crazy. In the end, it mostly comes down to the policies from car makers in each country. I guessed that Toyota Australia put of lot of pressure on Dealers to make sure that their reputation for reliability remain intact.
I have a 2020 CX-5 AWD with the 2.5 Turbo in it... super snappy and responsive. I'm impressed with the handling... the car knows what I'm going to do before I do it.
@@harveyhankerson8359 6 months ago I bought a 2013 Mazda 3 hatchback as a 2nd car to commute in, I bought it with 188,000 and it's a 201,000 and hasnt given me a single issue, everything in the car is immaculate and works as it should, been a mazda fan ever since
Been driving my '22 CX-30 Carbon Edition for roughly 8-9 months now in northeast PA, absolutely love it! It was between this and a crosstrek/rav4, and for the same amount of money i'd rather have a regular automatic T, more horsepower, and a bmw-like interior than say the extra space a subaru can offer. Mazda made a car here that's everything you need, nothing that you don't. Does it fit my snowboard? Is it AWD? that's all that really mattered to me. Coming from an '05 Infiniti FX35 before this :) cons: I think the subaru would've handled rough roads better, and the backseat IS pretty tight on space. But truly my only issue, is the rear visibility is probably worst in class. Merging on the highway and switching lanes still feels like I need to rely on my blindspot monitoring, as the the rear window is small and super high. If someone's tailgating you in a sports car for ex. - you can't even see them.
@@JG90984 both my roommates own Subarus, '19 impreza and a '21 crosstrek. Our driveway might as well count as off-road, not like my mazda can't handle it- but their subies are noticeably smoother over pot-holes. Do you actually go off road, or need the extra space? crosstrek is the better option. If you mainly highway commute, but do outdoorsy stuff every other saturday- grab the cx30- it's more fun to drive and has a nicer interior (in my opinion).
For the past 8 years, after ditching the association with Ford, Mazda has been the hot ticket IMO. Some people complain about the “harsh ride”, but it’s a driver’s car, and those people just don’t get it. Toyota has become such a big company, but Mazda is still on focus. Used as directed, the sedans are still the affordable thrill ride relative of the Miata. I have two of them, and they’ve proven to be very reliable, properly maintained.
While Mazda's generally handle better than other manufacturers cars. NOTHING in the Mazda line up will handle like a Miata / MX-5 ! Its their Halo car !
@@ag4allgood That is true. I used to own a Miata. But re the 3 or 6, I can tell the lion by his paw. Mazda is an engineering-oriented company, you’d have to be if you were still trying to make the rotary engine viable. I have deep respect for them. One thing I did have an issue with is the seats in the SUV’s, they weren’t in the same league as in the passenger cars. But that’s a different market, I suppose. I love my 6, I have complete confidence in it. And my wife loves her 3, it’s a really nifty little car.
2005 Toyota carolla with 111k still going strong only problems was ecm replaced by Toyota belt tension bolt sheered and Transmission flex plate bolts sheered all covered
My only issue with the CX-30 is how small the windows really are. The plastic cladding hides how tall the beltline is, the windows are like camaro windows. The door is only like 30% window or even less
I find the small windows adequate. Certainly not the best in class visibility but it's definitely not the worst. But it does give the car a sexy look. I think the cx-30 looks better then some German luxury cars twice the price.
Yeah I like the CX-30 but I wish the plastic cladding was like 1/2 the width. I do like the looks of the 3 Sedan better but I don’t think I could go back to a car after own pick ups and crossovers.
Scotty, BTW, the company was a "Cork manufacturer" before a car maker, so they actually use cork for the wheel well material. I forgot to mention that. Good review...
@@ag4allgood In most of Europe (I think) the majority of cars still have manual gearboxes because they are cheaper than automatics nowadays we are transitioning towards automatic because of the hybrids and EVs. Now Mazda is famous for the excellency of its manual gearboxes so it's a pleasure to use them.
I just got my grandpas ‘16 Mazda 3 made in Japan 😵 I think I’ll have to keep it for a while especially since the car I want is 35K (Si) 2.5 liter and I’m happy it’s naturally aspirated.
I have a mazda CX-5 2014. Love that little jewel. Yes it was built in Japan. Front wheel drive with the 2.5.❤. Get 25 miles to a gallon of gas in stop and go traffic. Can't complain.

I would love to see a picture of your Mazda.
I plan on buying a Mazda 3 this weekend. I can't wait. 😊

@@MrPoopster5621 Mazdas have good steering, good speakers and a lot of features for the mid-level model. Our last 3 buys are all CX-5s, one new and 2 with 5 to 10 thousand miles used. We have had problems with scumbag dealer staff, I recommend buying one used from a CarMax and getting service from a local independent mechanic.
The seats are so comfortable. I think this a major value for money car at any trim level.

@@teamskdm1 I think you gotta go up to the CX-50 Turbo those can tow up to 3500 lbs
The cx30 has a really short wheel base and is light weight. I wouldn't feel comfortable attempting to tow anything with it due to those facts.

I bought a 2024 cx30 and it’s everything I need I love it
Scotty is single-handedly raising the price of Toyotas by the constant praise he gives them
I had Mazdas years ago, a 4x4 B2600 and an MX-5...both were excellent cars with no issues ever.

Coming from an '05 Infiniti FX35 before this :)
cons: I think the subaru would've handled rough roads better, and the backseat IS pretty tight on space. But truly my only issue, is the rear visibility is probably worst in class. Merging on the highway and switching lanes still feels like I need to rely on my blindspot monitoring, as the the rear window is small and super high. If someone's tailgating you in a sports car for ex. - you can't even see them.
What makes you think the Subaru would handle better? I’m in between a Crosstrek and cx30.

2019 Mazda CX-9 GT. Love it.
Traded in our 2014 Mazda 3 GT for the CX-9. Loved that Mazda 3, too.
I see a lot of auction cars. Mazdas sell for $$,
So do Toyotas, both have good reputations…😊
And I love that. It’s enough to look
I find the small windows adequate. Certainly not the best in class visibility but it's definitely not the worst. But it does give the car a sexy look. I think the cx-30 looks better then some German luxury cars twice the price.
Get the Cx-5. It's more but looks better and obviously more back space.
Scott mentions the cork stuff in a video he did on the history of mazda
If you don't buy a Mazda, you might find another use for that cork !!! L O L. !!!!

@@jerrycottrell302 this "is" my Mazda CX-30.
I have a CX-5 …I average more than 30mpgs between city and highway driving..great for an AWD vehicle..
Grandpa driving while accelerating slowly or at pretty normal acceleration & interstate speeds (~75 mph)?
A 1.5 naturally aspirated workd just fine in a light car like a Yaris.
Trying one next week (European version 2liters 122 hp though with a manual gear box) Seems fine so far.
So lucky to have the manual transmission option.
Just got a new cx5 CE under MSRP. It's so pretty and drives like a dream
I have a mazda CX-5 2014. Love that little jewel. Yes it was built in Japan. Front wheel drive with the 2.5.❤. Get 25 miles to a gallon of gas in stop and go traffic. Can't complain.
