I just watched this movie yesterday. I got chills watching this scene. What a tense scene. It was such a surprise and release to witness Shug Avery force Mister's hand; and I loved hearing Celie finally speak her mind to Mister, and oooh, Sofia's fire and laughter came back strong. 🤎🤎🤎

Love both the film and musical. It’s so annoying how people keep trying to peg this as a remake when it isn’t.
The performances are superb. The film is light years away from Spielberg's mastery, but hey, who can match or better the master's storytelling talent? I wonder what Spielberg himself would have been capable of had he dared to direct a remake of his own film in a musical version.

"Until you do right by me, everything you even think about gonna fail." "Everything you done to me, already done to you." Celie not only standing up to Albert but CURSING him to a life of misery for all that he has done is essential to the story and Celie's character. You lose so much by cutting that out. This clip sealed my decision to never watch this abomination.
