Been jamming to Deftones since adrenaline and had the pleasure of chilling on their bus at Ozzfest 99, burgettstown, pa, smoking herb and listening to music with them til all the buses started pulling out. Got to hang out with them a few other times and I'll never forget it. They were always cool to hang out and talk with fans & sign whatever they wanted, including my lowrider trucks roof at another show. Makes me so happy to see that they're still doing it, after all these years and that the younger Generations are into it also.🤘
His voice has been shot since the first show. Don’t know what he’s doing but needs to take better care of his voice, he’s not in his twenties any more.

Vega, who had been with Deftones since 2009, announced in a statement this past March that he'd left the band last year due to a contract dispute'. Sounds tight as fuck 😊
We really only know one side of the story. Perhaps he was asking for way more money then the band thought he deserves. I am sure it goes beyond money however, since all the members are set financially. The new bass player was great, and his backing vocals were on point. Sergios singing and screaming was always horrid live.
I’ve been thinking about what could have caused the split and the only thing I could think of was Sergio wanting more money from the songs Chi wrote. I don’t know shit about music and how royalties work, and if they’re giving some of that money to Chi’s family or not. That’s probably why they never gave him a contract. Again that’s just me trying to make sense of it with NO knowledge on how that stuff works
