Hi Wade, do you have a preference between the firecracker and hot whip? Im trying to decide between the two. The hot whip is really comfortable, but maybe I’m a bit too light at 168lbs based on your side by side (with the sweet ride) review. I’m in the Uk, the rivers a a little different to those you paddle!
Might pull the trigger on a used sweet ride- was there an issue with the plastic on early versions? You mention the softness of the plastic in this video -thanks
Wade - smashing review as always - FIRED UP to check these out; but curious to know, in your experience, if it would be fair to put the Hot Whip betwixt the Ripper 2 & Fire Cracker or if its a completely different animal? Insights and banter always appreciated ~ Stay well
Yeah the plastic just seems softer on these but they are some early runs so will see when more people get these out but LL has always stood behind their products so i would not let that worry you honestly and there’s always a lot of factors that play from boat to boat
@@WadeHarrison thanks man. its so hard to figure out where my fat ass will fit in a boat. i have a braap that i try to c1 but i just cant get my knees wide enough since the hull is so rounded. In the video, you said the cockpit width is about the same. From your memory, is the inside of the boat, the bottom, wider in the Sweet Ride? ---I have a rockstar gen 1 and that boat is the only boat that I can get in that feels "right" with my c1 posture/stance. hoping that the sweet ride is wide enough!! tired of not having a boat to c1
Yes hot whip is Antix firecracker style and the sweet ride is Waka goat/steeze style more Goat then steeze but kinda on that style and here’s the Antix 2 comparison ua-cam.com/video/vuo624MZzrg/v-deo.html
Huge fan of LL. It’s a bit dated at this point but a full on Homeslice review would be good. That will likely be my next boat. My Rockstar is held together with gorilla tape at this point.
I did a side by side to the supernova and I have paddled the home slice few times but have zero interest in revisiting that one it’s at the end of my modern full slice boats which is supernova way in front mixmaster 7.5 loki Large and homeslice in that order
Those deep gouges were troubling. I know you give them the ‘Rocky’ workout, but that doesn’t seem right for a relatively new boat. When the sun reflects off the hull, you can see how scratched up it is. The Hot Whip even looks like there’s an oil can dent near the bow. Nice designs… soft plastic.
Yeah, I will admit I paddled these really hard the little bit i had them I was spinning and splatting boofing everything, so they did get more abuse than say like a creeker, but it did seem softer than most. It could be these are just some the first out but hey they are not cracked or broken so I can always live with scratches and deep gauges.
The plastic on both seem to be very soft, its a bit like the newer Dagger boats..My Nova isn't made from the stuff they used to make the Dagger boats from..Maybe an inferior plastic is now the new industry standard?..great review as always Wade!!
Interested to see how I like these two boats. With zero half slice experience and currently at 225 lbs, I'll probably have my hands full with either one 😂 but I'm still excited to try both of them out nonetheless! And I'm sure once I get back under 200 lbs, every boat is gonna feel way better 🤙
@@WadeHarrison Thank you Wade! Hopefully I can demo some boats at NOC this weekend, and I'll be sure to look specifically for the Ripper 2 and Sweet Ride if they're available.

just ordered my liquid logic hot whip. demoed my first hot whip at radical rider here in the U.K, amazing kayak going to have so much fun in this
Yes surprisingly underrated on how good that design is
@@WadeHarrison i have been demoing the firecracker a lot. as soon as i got in the hot whip i new that it was the kayak for me. loving the videos dude.
How would you say the sweet ride compares to the ripper 1 for ease of stern squirting
No I thought the Ripper 1 was easier compares more to the WAKA Goat
@@WadeHarrison good to know thanks

firecracker 242 for you at your weight
Sweet vid! You should do a whitewater kayak roof rack types/pro tips video. That would be awesome!
I will see if can get something
Might pull the trigger on a used sweet ride- was there an issue with the plastic on early versions?
You mention the softness of the plastic in this video
-thanks
It seems to be hit or miss I trust it was very isolated issue
I am looking forward to demoing these. We are expecting then in the UK in June.
Oh wow curious what you think?
How tall are you? I’m 6’3 I’m wondering if I’ll be cramped in it. Otherwise I like the look of the hot whip
I’m 5’11” my buddy is almost 6’5” and he has both of these and fits fine in both fairly easy and he likes the hot whip the most
Do you know how many inches of rocker is in the hot whip bow?
It wasn’t in your walkthrough vid.
15” and that can very slightly boat per boat

Sweet ride closer to the Waka goat and hot whip I will try to get a comparison to the 252 firecracker
Man, I’ve not paddled LL much, but they do cater to my size at 180-185 with a fair price. Most everyone else is doing mediums where you want be 165ish
They have nailed our weight range
I really wanted the hot whip till I seen the deep gouges and possible oil can on it. I wonder how these will hold up over time....
Yeah the plastic just seems softer on these but they are some early runs so will see when more people get these out but LL has always stood behind their products so i would not let that worry you honestly and there’s always a lot of factors that play from boat to boat
Thanks for all the great videos!
Yeah no problem
How easy is it to get the stern down in the hot whip compared to the antix2?
I feel it’s about the same
Which would be best for a wide c1 stance?
Sweet Ride

What boats on the market would you compare these to? Hot whip seems similar to an antix
Yes hot whip is Antix firecracker style and the sweet ride is Waka goat/steeze style more Goat then steeze but kinda on that style and here’s the Antix 2 comparison

@@WadeHarrison Looking at the boats now I can definitely see those comparisons between them
Hot whip looks like a sweet Upper Yough boat!
Yeah I can’t wait to give it a go there
Did I miss the on water review on the hot whip?
Have not had time to edit that but will get it up
I think hot whip verse firecracker would be a good comparison
Yes please!
Yeah will see when I get my hands on the 252 fire that’s more my size o felt little much in the 242
With that jalapeno on there and your taste test maybe they should have named it the Hot Chip for you ;-)
Hahah the hot chip actually kinda funny
Great stuff. Nailed it.
Thanks buddy

A bit like the differences between Ripper 2 and Firecracker. Wider, shorter etc
I will have a side by side soon it closer to the firecracker 252
great review Wade 👍
Thanks buddy
My only question: sweet ride or ripper 2?
Depending on what padding but I feel the ripper 2 L i could take anywhere
First the rmx and now these two! I might turn into a LL fanboy…
Considering trading my rewind for a sweet ride…
Oh for sure LL has some home runs this go around very solid offerings here lately

I would say go sweet ride or Pyranha ripper 2 large if your first half slice

@@WanderingRobinson Did you get a chance to demo either boat?
@@brianscythes3273 Unfortunately, I did not. I only tried a large Antix 2. I'm hoping next time I get up to Nantahala that I can demo some more boats.
My experience so far mirrors your own on the plastic - seems soft.
Yes that is true
Nice
Yup
