Pete, one of the best things about your videos is that you can write riffs/songs that compliment the pedal you demo. I'm not a fan of fuzz [at all], but I've seen a couple of fuzz demos you've done and they all sound great in the application. Very nice. FYI - the hair is at its peak. Looking good.
Agreed.. i bought a Supra pedal based on his demo and I have used maybe two times lol.. he's a hell of a salesman!
I even buy the demo songs when he finishes one as Rush to the head and put on for sale
He doesn't know it...Pete is my best guitar teacher :-)
I don't know how you do it but you make these absolute gems of music that don't sound like noodling or loaded with finger gymnastics for gymnastics sake. So incredibly musical, lyrical and downright awesome!
Beautifully presented in a slick package with accompanying soundscapes.
I show up here every few videos slobbering about how great the pedal demo tunes are, but I can't help it.
The thing is, it's not just a demo of the tones, but instead, it's, "here's how it sounds....and, here's how to use it and make music..." Pete's got the corner on that perspective.
I am convinced you could hand Pete a bag of rocks, a banana, and a plastic spoon and he could make interesting music with it.
thank you for your slobber!
"The man with a million riffs/grooves... Pete Thorn!"
Another Pete Thorn spectacular pedal demo. Came for the pedal review and left great rhythm and lead parts.
If you were looking for another tube based fuzz look at Effectrode Mercury (or it's predecessor, the Helios). Not entirely dissimilar to the pedal in this video in its fuzz character (which sounds great!). The Mercury is one of my favorites.
Me - "Pete, do you like guitar?"
Pete - "Suhr"
lol another awesome demo. Thanks for taking the time to do these vids
Never thought to send a looper through effects while changing the tone... I can't wait to try that out!!!
Once again, excellent review. Your way of explaining things is so precise and intriguing.....Now if only I had an unlimited budget. :)
Pete Your demo videos are the best. Your an inspiration
You're such a great guitar player! You make everything sounds awesome! 🙌
thanks Pedro!
Outstanding videos! All of them! Thank you for contributing your time and efforts...I really appreciate them.
Dude. Such a badass song man. Love it
badassery at its finest
G'day Pete, your tone and playing is so inspiring, thanks for sharing. Cheers.
Also not generally a big fuzz user, however alluding to your comment about this pedal having overdrive-like characteristics, after watching and listening I definitely agree! Great demo and as always great playing/writing!
great vid Pete thorn
The fuzz sounds great. Never played a fuzz pedal in person that sounded good to my ears.
Wow Pete. You've got great taste. Really nice playing.
Hands down coolest fuzz ever. They nailed the look too.
Man, you've got some mean riffs, damn.
That's a killer piece of music!!
awesome pedal.... another great review Pete, mos def have to pick this one up.
Another awesome demo of an awesome pedal. Thanks!
Sweet demo Pete, Your gear demos are also some of the best guitar lessons around :)
Blackstar used to make tube pedals, the HT series. This Friedman piece sounds great!
Thurston Moore WILL be getting one of these.
Gonna be 'that' guy: Fryette SAS is a tube fuzz pedal that came out a few years ago using high voltage from a charge pump. It was discontinued but I nabbed one and it's frickin' awesome. I wish they'd reissue it. There are other tube fuzzes if I'm remember rightly. Kingsley make fuzzy sounding drives. I think there's a small company in the UK that make a couple.
Wow. I hear what you mean by overdrive fuzz. That's pretty distinct sounding and even when hairy, it lets the sound of the guitar come through nicely. Methinks Friedman has another hit on it's hands.
Only other tube fuzz I can think of is the Effectrode Mercury fuzz but they're really pricey and don't have as many options. Great sounds !
damn that red sparkle guitar looks so dope
lilnetty2 knaggs
Great review! Pete, I would like to see a review of yours of the Kingsley Constable!! Cheers from Brazil!
I really like how this pedal sounds. I don't own a fuzz pedal but it's probably the one effect I would like to check out. The riff at 0:28 reminds me of the solo section of Surfing With the Alien. Great playing as always!
Well ... that opening track better make the album!
Wow. Could this maybe be a fuzz I'd actually like the feel of playing and that doesn't lose all note clarity while not being super nasal and fizzy? How promising!
Pete Thorn kills...again...
Damn Pete can just rip it up. It's unreal
Maxon makes a fantastic tube circuit (12ax7) overdrive/distortion pedal.
dude you are certainly rockin", as usual, well done
Seems I just found my dream tone.... its not a distortion, its not a od.....
dan, its a fuzz!
Nice playing as always, thanks Pete!
Hey Pete, so glad to see you back! I hope time helps you heal.
Another awesome demo from you man, I really enjoyed the tune and the tones you got with the pedal.
Have you got any advice on getting good drums for one man recording situations such as yours? I recently got a mac and started fooling around with GarageBand and the drummers feature. It allows me to finally record my own song demos :) The drummer feature is cool, but I'd love to have more control over what's played. I was looking at EZDrummer - do you think it's a good solution? Is there anything better at a similar price point? I'd really appreciate the advice.
Tom
can someone talk about this wonderful unit a little bit....its the first tube fuzz i hear and what a tone !!! specially with the strat mann...its like a germanium fuzzface on steroids or some....by the way bravo Pete 4 your clear explanation and your liquid raw playing....S.T
Pete, was wondering if I could drop by the studio and jam with you...maybe learn a few chops??
Pete, how do you have time to make all of these great demos??? Took me over a week to make the one I published today :) Another stellar intro track with great playing galore! I dig how your tone always has great clarity no matter how much distortion you use. Very rare.
the song reminds me a bit of surfin with the alien great playing as always btw
Awesome as always, Pete! How would you compare the Friedman Fuzz Fiend to the Bogner Oxford Fuzz?
Dog gone, Pete!!! Killer demo!
Pete, you could make a Tiesco Del Ray Guitar, Joyo Fuzz Pedal plugged into a Guerrilla amp sound bad ass!
Damn. I've said it before that I'm not a fuzz guy, but this shit is ridiculous. Awesome vid.
I only use Carbon Zinc batteries with my fuzzes because they don't sound good plugged in. So I change mine like every other song with the Fuzz Fiend. Or if I'm really rocking, I change batteries after each solo!
wow this fuzz rocks
Damn, that demo song was so tasty!
This thing needs exp pedal input for the fuzz control!!! I have 3 fuzzes so far. I love me some fuzz!
I know I can stack pedals, I have a few fuzz pedals how, would using a behringer super fuzz on boost, sludge up my pedal
so f****** cool Pete! and the pedal isn't bad, either! :D
Hey Pete, does it do the glassy clean thing with the volume rolled down like some vintage style fuzzes do?
Look at the Papastache review where he shows the whole Hendrix trick to find out (spoilers: yes).
I'd buy it just for that Rage thing. The fact that it does anything else is just cream on the top.
Hi Pete, will you be demo'ing the motor city drive soon as well?
Hahahaha, great tune man, love it!
I know it's not a review of the guitar but I have to ask what you think of the suhr guitars. I thought they were way to blocky and heavy for me. Maybe I played a cheaper model.
Miguel Brierley that's his signature model Suhr, which he helped design,
Pretty sure he's nuts about it, he plays it a lot.
From what u understand, Suhr can make u any body, strat, tele, whatever, with contours, tummy cuts etc..
up might have played an old one,
Maybe the first tube fuzz was the built in fuzz circuit in Laney Klipp amp back in the early seventies.
Have you heard Black Sabbath? hehehe
intro rocked
New bridge on the start style suhr:)!!! How is it working:)???
great!
I need to stop watching your videos... you're not exactly curing my GAS.
However... one question though... any significant difference between using the 9V or 12V?
Assume you used the 12V adapter that followed the pedal?
What is the model of the red sparkle guitar? I have never seen that one or one like it.
knaggsguitars.com/index.php/viewSubModel/7/83
thanks!
Awesome!!!!!!!
Great playing, but pretty underwhelmed by the pedal... it's ok, but nothing wow IMO.
Oh and tube fuzz, Effectrode has both the Mercury and Helios. There's probably others, but those spring to mind.
killer riff
thanks!
The rage switch sounds like Hendrix Isle of Wight... :)
"It plays nice with buffers too..." - does that mean if I use the Firedman Fuzz with my crybaby-wah, it wont make all the horrible noise my last fuzz pedal did?
Haha! Give 'em the horns, Pete!
Man, I feel the rage...
Knaggs Steve Stevens......now I really hate you! LOL. 😂😂
Badass
I watched this on my phone and didn't notice the upper boxes imposed at first. I thought something was about to fall on your head. Turns out it was your foot.
Wow!!!
Desert Rock!
This is a fuzz pedal for people who hate fuzz.
your playin' makes me go bonker:))))
Bet u can get some Gilmour tones out of it
I knew a knaggs would show up sooner or later. Only wish a normal human could afford one
I'll take gear demos that make me speechless for $500 Trebeck!!!!
hey houday hi there
Doesn't sound very fuzzy. More like overdrive.
having trouble thinking of something Friedman makes that is not awesome.
fuck fuck fuck friedman :( , i just bought the wrong fuzz
This is not a good demo... he could probably make the worst pedal ever produced sound good. LOL!
Awesome demo again @Pete Thorn, thanks a lot!
May i ask one question: In the lead part with your black Suhr model (at around 6:40 in), what Reverb (or short Delay?) are you using? It sounds really good, very thick and roomy but still not overbearing... I'd love to know, cheers!
Sounds freaking awesome Pete my lad. How do you like the floyd so far? I kinda want a non fine tuner floyd on my strat..
love it.
