The 4400 was like one of the best shows that nobody knew about. It's like a combination of Lost and Heroes and I honestly wouldn't see a reason for a reboot, because it started good, and ended good.

The new iteration got a interesting idea to take a interesting premise that was presented with the original and focused mainly on a marginalized group being taken. HOWEVER, the new show is so bad. It overwhelming heavy-handed with its themes and the acting failed to make any of that bad writing good that it got annoying real fast.
I get that in today's society it's common to over-represent certain races and sexual orientations but in a show that is supposed to be about a swath of the human race being returned in an advanced genetic state the over-representation destroys the entire premise of the show
The show is set in Detroit so it makes sense that many of the cast is black. There are a couple of shows set in the South such as Yellowstone that have zero black cast.

The CW is just a joke network to be honest. They have no reason for being in business that long and still having C tier acting, scripts and visual effects.

The original was also set around the AGENTS, the reboot is set around the 4400. The original was set in Seattle, the reboot is set in Detroit. White cis-het people are rarely marginalized. BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, Obese, Disabled, etc ARE marginalized at an astronomical rate in comparison, so the taken wouldn't logically contain a cis-het white man. The White population in Detroit is 11.0%, they are dwarfed in comparison to the population in the rest of the US. Also, the white population in Detroit is quit polarized today and more so than in other cities because they are a minority and feel threatened by that status. Add to that the whites shown are in law enforcement/corrections and their "good/bad" ratio in Detroit is factually much higher and you do get closer to a most white men (IN that profession and as a demographic minority fearful that they will move from being just demographical minority WITH power to being treated as a minority and lose that power), bad because they ARE only 11.0% of the population. The only other whites we got were ... Politicians, another demographic that is more likely to be "bad". So it wouldn't make sense to have a Rich White lawyer from a prestigious law firm as they wouldn't have been marginalized before they were taken; you instead get a lawyer in a marginalized black woman who barely held her job due to maternity leave and even marginalized herself due to post-partum depression. There wouldn't be a Jordan Collier that had money and owned several building when they were taken. You get a black pastor with issues that marginalized himself and was going to leave. You get a reality star who was even marginalized by her family and probably was only really famous is non-white circles. There are people would have been pulled over or not given the medical care because of their status that marginalized them regardless of who they were as a person. My bet is, all the taken were going to die if they weren't taken and their death was due to the marginalization they received. Most probably would have been shot by a cop, others would have died needing health care and such. Their deaths would have been the fault of society and it's bigotry. The only thing I dislike about the show is the "youngest/oldest" isn't a pre-pubescent 8 year old child but a teen played by a 20 year old. I take that back, the only thing I hate is they killed Resurrection and The Returned. Hell I adored The Crossing, a similar plot of people appearing, and it got cancelled. I'd rather have that back than reboot 4400.

I watched episode 1 of the new version and episode 1 of the older version. I found both to be interesting and intriguing. Both series have an introduction to several characters, so I expect more character development in future episodes.

So sick of the nonsense reboots of things today. Can't we have anything new or unique or just slightly GOOD anymore? It truly seems that everything that is being put out today is a lazy reboot or some bs with a political narrative being pushed and it is to the point where I can't even watch movies or tv anymore.

I didn’t like the new 4400 at all. It felt fake. I just don’t understand why they had to steal the original one and couldn’t create something new. None of the original actors were in it and it was a same story with different actors. So what’s the point? We already loved the first 4400 and watched it . New one was absolute garbage

I watched episode 1 of the new version and episode 1 of the older version. I found both to be interesting and intriguing. Both series have an introduction to several characters, so I expect more character development in future episodes.
Original is brilliant. New version is boring.
