He was so much fun to hangout with at Hare & Hounds Pub lots of times. He was so funny with innuendos and bits of snippy comments. He was so very kind that he took my friend (whom I was visiting) and I to Granada Sudios in Manchester for "The Comedians" in October, 1984. I, being an American, was very honored. It was an incredible time being in back of the studio where there was a little restaurant. It was 60p for a meal. That was the most wonderful, cheapest meal to have. Also there was a pub that we went to and met other comedians. One of a kind experience. Saw him two more times at the Hare &; Hounds in October,1986 and June, 1989. He told me that he toured with Stan Kenton band. Sure do miss him and am forever grateful to knowing him. R.i.p. my friend.
Frankie Boyle take note, no obscenities, mocking the afflicted & generally saying anything to shock, this is pure comedy delivered by a very funny man & genuinely nice bloke.
This may be the most perfect gag of all time. Of course, Eddie really makes it with his impeccable timing. I love the way he keeps pointing to the things he mentions in the joke.
I knew Eddie vaguely as a child. We lived next door to him and his good lady (Irene I think?), Jubilee Drive in the 1970's. They left as his career took off. We eventually moved out to a new house far reaches of Huyton /Tarbock Merseyside. As I began exploring the local pubs, there was Eddie in the Hare and Hounds. He remembered me and we often would chat sat at the bar. A funny, generous man Happy times...
Just love how he keeps chuckling along to himself whilst telling the joke, I can't even pick my favorite comedian, Hamilton, manning, Carson, Goodwin, Williams, roper, but Eddie just sneaks it for me 🏆
One of my biggest regrets in life never saw Eddie live on stage . Always thought Bernard was the master but since I've watched these videos I think Eddie just edges him.
superb timing, superb subtlety, superb presence. definitely on a par with Tommy Cooper, tho Tommy of course made it big time. shame there is nowhere near as much footage of Eddie to delight in, but grateful so much for that which does exist.
Many thanks for taking the trouble to do this. I had the same on VHS but it won't work after so many years. Fantastic humour and shows up the "alternative comedians" for what they are.. NOT funny.
watched this again....so very very funny, MY GOD, iv laughed non stop, i never do this with the likes of john bishop......too vulgar!!! just shows you, you dont have to be vulgar to be very funny xxxxx

Very very funny man, and again it's the way he tells them.
Funniest thing I've seen in years lol
Loved watching him
My favourite of all comedians. The funniest and most professional. Remember Eddie back in the 70s and the Wheeltappers and Social Club.

Brilliant only time I laugh is when I see these old vids
The good old days when comedians were funny .
Imagine seeing him live, i did, over 30 years in liverpool, never ever forgot it. Second only to Bernard.
