I have Charcot Marie Tooth with muscle atrophy. I feel it's hopeless for me. But I'm going to try this, it can't hurt. Very helpful video.

Hello, the muscle atrophy from CMT definitely limits balance, but this type of exercise can greatly benefit those suffering from this disease in two ways. By making your balance better, you can overcome the balance loss, normally associated with the disease. But also there is a lot of evidence that doing anything that strengthens the muscles, including balance, challenging exercises, Can slow down the progression of CMT

It works excellent in helping w balance . I love the fact it’s just this one exercise . I also like when you do one foot in front of the other and let go as long as you can and do w putting the other foot behind the other try balancing without holding onto anything counting to 10, 20 even 30 . I find I walk better . Thank you so much . Marie

Doug... an alternative approach I've used for a long time works for people with access to a single person shower stall... do the one-leg bit for 20 or more seconds in the stall, and then switch... no chance of falling, there are three sturdy walls you're going to hit.

    • @neurolasticinstitute424

I have several clients with Menieres Disease who have benefitted from this exercise and ones similar. But it depends on the severity. This wont cure Menieres, but it will improve your balance.
