Hey Alan that'd be a great series! Put songs into a hat and have a few guitarists pull them out - or do the same song for a few different guitarists! Would love to chat about promo collaboration. What's the best way for us to chat?
@davidshanhun How do you get that slightly overdriven sound when you play the lead? I’ve been looking for something like that for my pedalboard/acoustic.....????
hey Jason - I'm using the voicelive 3 in this for the overdriven sound - it's a slight boost/overdrive that's running on it with a delay also. Having said that I've gone back to individual pedals at the moment, and my two overdrive's that I use are the Tumnus (amzn.to/3uqVgXS) and the older version of this Fulltone pedal (amzn.to/39Qs43g). Essentially find an overdrive pedal with a tone you like and that's it! Seeing as it's an overall acoustic set I usually just set the drive reasonably low so it's not a crazy contrast in sound, but still stands out nicely.
Hey thank you very much for the great video :) It's really fun to learn! I found myself struggling with the rhythm. For me it would be helpful to have a brief explanation of your rhythm /counting. Oh and what key is it in standard tuning for the melody part?
Hey Sven - glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for the comment - that way I know what might be more useful for next time! I'm tuned to Eb, so if you are in standard tuning (E), everything I play through this whole video just needs to be played 1 fret lower than where I'm playing it to match the sound. Does that make sense?
Hi Voltaire, I don't have any videos specifically on the nux core delux. All of the concepts and ideas that I share should be able to be translated across to this pedal - but it might take a little bit of thinking as the way to actually do it will be slightly different from pedal to pedal. Is there anything in particular that I could help you with?
@@davidshanhun Actually your videos bring a big help for me about the looping effects even we are not thesame on the said pedal. . . Hope that you will continue uploading video tutorial. And as soon as you make it, shout out me on your next upload videos.. . Thanks.. 🤟

There isn't noise from the electronics (that I've noticed of any sort). What sort of noise do you have? I'm guessing it's due to irregular power (not from the gear but from the actual power you are plugged into). If you use the ditto x4 you could try flipping the 4th switch on the back to 'up' to change the bypass mode. Hope that helps, but feel free to message about what your issue/situation is!
Ive had Ditto 4 For around 3 years now and love it , however it sadly developed a fault (Pop) and eventualy just bricked after trying to update the firmware. have to say tc electronic /music tribe were very good , fixed and replaced .. so watch out for that. As you the dit4 comes with clock time sync and add a beat buddy pedal to the set up . its really like you a band
Yeah, I'm working on using my BeatBuddy with the VoiceLive3. Between that and the OC-3 I will eventually be able to replicate my Trio. Really want to get into MIDI and be able to make my own beats for the BeatBuddy, but more importantly add bass and other instruments like a lot of people have done on the BB forums.
Hey Connor. Thanks so much for asking - writing out TABS isn't really my thing, but I'd suggest using the slow down function that youtube gives you, and just picking up tiny bit by bit what I'm doing. Makes it super easy to see/hear at half speed! Just click on settings then 'speed'. You might need to be listening on a laptop rather than your phone tho. Hope that helps mate!
I bought the ditto x4 as a back up looping unit, as I was having issues with my VL3. I think it's a superb 2 channel unit, and also nice and compact :) Mostly, it's sitting around as my back up unit, or if I want to be on battery power I have a way to run it!
@@davidshanhun Hello! I tried several loopers, now I use RC-30, but I came to the conclusion that there is only a ditto from the loopers of this price category for alternating verse / chorus. Now I'm waiting for the delivery of this device. I re-read the entire Internet, but did not find 2 things about ditto: 1. Is it possible, having recorded a loop while it is playing, to save it as a backing track and continue to work with the current track without stopping? 2. Looking at the current consumption of the ditto, I came to the conclusion that it can be powered by a 9 volt battery, could you share your way of feeding the ditto from the batteries? Thanks for the answers and for your channel, for me it is now like an encyclopedia :)
Hi, David. As first i must to tell you that you are really a great musician !!! And as second... i wanna to ask you. If you record for example 3 different record for one LOOP button. For example any beat, and after another sound. So its possible turn off only beat (first record) and another records will still playing ? Thank you for your answer.
Thanks Petr. Unfortunately if you use only one loop button, you can only remove the very last thing you recorded. So if you recorded a beat first, then some guitar chords, then a bass line - you would only be able to remove the bass line as it is the last thing recorded. so it could be possible, if you recorded the guitar chords first, then a bass line or something, and then record the beat last. Pedals have an 'undo' and 'redo' function (for pretty much all loop pedals). so you can 'undo' the last recorded section, and then 'redo' it when you want it back in.
@@petrrandysek9203 ah nice! if you have something like the ditto x4 then you'll have two separate loop tracks to choose from for more options. I'm sure you'll figure out what seems like a good option for you!
Question for you! If I lay something down on Loop 1 and then lay something down over it on Loop 1, whatever I first laid down gets super quiet. Is there a way to change that?
using the ditto x4? Default settings for Loop 1 and Loop 2 knobs should be all the way around at 5pm (not 12pm as is commonly expected or shown in all their pics). Anything less than 5pm the level will be less than the level you played into the unit. Guessing that will suss it for you but let me know!
Hi Namgyal :) Congrats on getting the RC30 it's awesome! You'll be able to loop any of the stuff that I do on the ditto x4 or the VL3 that has two separate loops on the Rc30. :) Hope you're having fun playing around already!
I have a question about this pedal. When in sync mode, do the two loopers match timing wise. What I mean is, if I start loop 2, wait until the third beat, and then start loop 1, will loop one come in on it's third beat as well? Or will it start from the beginning of it's loop?
Hey Charlie! Sorry for taking so long to get back to you man! If you have loop 2 running, then start loop 1 on beat 3, loop one will start on it's 3rd beat. 😊(guessing you probably found the answer by now, but if not then there you go!)
I tried putting my mic through my voiceplay 2 and looping through my x4 ditto but no vocals are coming through? Take out the voiceplay and the mic works?? How did you use your voiceplay 3? X
are you using the xlr output on the voicelive 2 for your vocals? How are you sending that to the ditto? Will need a bit more of a description of how you have things setup to help you - let me know though and we can chat!
Is is possible to speed up the video by 1/12 after you record it? That would get rid of all the Eb tuning confusion? And I doubt it would be very noticeable during the talking.
definitely possible Matt, I know it can be a pain for some people, but I'm simply sharing what I do, and the Eb thing is part of that at the moment so leaving as is haha! I'm sure I've tripped up a few people that have looked at my fret position then it's sounded different though, so try to be a little aware of it and give it a mention!
haha classic! I think that's the beauty of UA-cam though - you can share what YOU do, and people can follow your channel if they wish. It's one of the things I love about it, I get the make the videos that I think are fun (and useful) haha. I was doing way too many shows where I was having people dictate what music I should or shouldn't play and I got over it real quick! I reckon it'd be great if you did lefty videos - there's a heap of lefty players that would appreciate them for sure, and the right handed players would appreciate the info, and just switch it around to be useful to them! :)
You said its frustrating pressing 2 separate pedals to start both channels together... Can you plug in an additional switch pedal, and assign it to an all start /all stop function? This is built in to the RC300, but I have reassigned that pedal to another function, and have a couple of switch pedals, one of which has that function assigned to it. It might sound complicated but Boss, in their infinite wisdom, put the all start/stop pedal right by the output volume control knob. Which I usually ended up knocking at least 3 or 4 times per set!
I would love to Aidan - in fact thinking I may have missed something I went and checked the pedal again, but sadly no, there is no option for a footswitch with the Ditto x4. That would have been superb and I likely would have switched back to individual pedals again haha! ...I'm keen to see what new loopers might appear in the next 6 months though of general companies development! How long has the Boss RC300 been out for now with no new upgrades or updates?
@@davidshanhun I've been doing shows with mine for around 18 months. I had the RC30 before but I got so frustrated with having so few pedals to control so many things, and the fact that all loops have to be the same length. I have changed the settings in my rc300 so that I can record a 4 beat/1 bar percussive loop on channel 1. Then you can have however long you want on both the other channels. Often I'll use an 8 or 16 bar riff or chord progression on channel 2. Then 4 or 5 part harmony vox loops on channel 3. These usually 4 or 8 bars. Good way to boost the dynamics towards the end of the track. Have a look at the most recent videos on my channel... I See Fire, and Rolling In The Deep. Once you try the RC300, you won't ever want anything else! (unless you can build a Chewie Monsta!). Happy to answer any questions if you want to know anything about it. Your videos are really good mate.
The other thing I did was reassign the effects pedal as a quick undo last overdub. Saves having to press and hold anything, it's instant. I don't use the inbuilt effects, they're not that great, so that button gets used for something far more useful
@@AidanMooreacoustic absolutely agree Aiden i have both the RC30 and the RC300 and i love my 300 it does everything one needs and i have set mine up very similar to you .
@@AidanMooreacoustic I'm super tempted to get the RC300... semi waiting to see if something new comes into the looping space though. I really like the TC helicon setup of being able to record any length any time, and dislike the size of the rc300 haha. Buuut it's getting more likely I will go down that path. Unless something new is introduced this year....? (fingers crossed). I'm certain some company will replicate something similar to Ed's Chewie Monsta in the reasonably close future! There's so many good features that each loop pedal has, but not quite the combo I want all in one yet! Thanks for letting me know how you've got it set up though - I appreciate that, and sounds like how I would most likely use it also. I'm definitely a fan of how customisable it is and remapping pedals like you mentioned!

@@davidshanhun Would love to see it and if I can get the guts, perhaps to participate. A looping challenge series. BTW, I work for Shure microphones and we should do some promotional collaboration? Paul Davids works with Shure as well....
Hey Alan that'd be a great series! Put songs into a hat and have a few guitarists pull them out - or do the same song for a few different guitarists! Would love to chat about promo collaboration. What's the best way for us to chat?
@@davidshanhun I just sent you a message on facebook. Thanks!
@@AlanGeer Legend - will have a read!
Thanks a lot bro :)
Most welcome!
Hi good vibs how u make the bass please?
Nice job.
Thanks!
Please share which looper you think is best for beginners I have 3 different ones
Hey Dan! I would use the RC-300 which I think you have eh? What are your other 2?
Awsome break-down. Love the dirtbag and revolution bits. Any suggestions for other snippets to pop into that with the same 1 4 4-1 5 progression?
this is awesome! what position are the dip switches in the ditto?
Thanks. Factory settings - all switches are down.
@@davidshanhun thanks!!
@@riteshkatuwal251 most welcome!
Hey thank you very much for the great video :)
It's really fun to learn!
Thanks for your reply :)
So the lead part would than be F# major scale?
I love how passionate you are about music. Truly inspirational!
@@svenneudecker no worries - yes F# major scale to play along with this.
need loop videos for very new to looping songs
Can you do some extra simple stuff with a simple bass line, rythem
?
Hey David - yes, that's on my long list of videos to create! 😊 What are you looping with at the moment?
Do you prefer the ditto 4 over the RC300?
Prefer the RC300. 😊
@@davidshanhun Thanks. I use the RC300 and couldn't imagine the ditto being better.
Hi sir do you have any tutorial looping using nux core delux?
Hi Voltaire, I don't have any videos specifically on the nux core delux. All of the concepts and ideas that I share should be able to be translated across to this pedal - but it might take a little bit of thinking as the way to actually do it will be slightly different from pedal to pedal. Is there anything in particular that I could help you with?
@@davidshanhun Actually your videos bring a big help for me about the looping effects even we are not thesame on the said pedal. . . Hope that you will continue uploading video tutorial. And as soon as you make it, shout out me on your next upload videos.. . Thanks.. 🤟
@@voltstv9496 awesome - I'm glad you are finding them useful! :) oooh shout outs in the videos could be fun! Thanks for the idea!
@@davidshanhun great work. your content gives us as viewers an Idea to every one who watch you videos and it helps a lot to those who wants to learn how to play the guitar using loop effects and how to operate the sequence in every step on the pedal. . 🤘🤟
great video. How you deal with the noise from the electronics?
As you the dit4 comes with clock time sync and add a beat buddy pedal to the set up . its really like you a band
good to hear that you got good support when it died. hmm hadn't considered the beat buddy... might be a fun experiment for me to do :)
Yeah, I'm working on using my BeatBuddy with the VoiceLive3. Between that and the OC-3 I will eventually be able to replicate my Trio.
Really want to get into MIDI and be able to make my own beats for the BeatBuddy, but more importantly add bass and other instruments like a lot of people have done on the BB forums.
could you make a tab for the lead part you played around 6:30??
Hi David, why do you use ditto if there is a VL3 with the best 3 tracks looper?
I bought the ditto x4 as a back up looping unit, as I was having issues with my VL3. I think it's a superb 2 channel unit, and also nice and compact :) Mostly, it's sitting around as my back up unit, or if I want to be on battery power I have a way to run it!
@@davidshanhun Hello! I tried several loopers, now I use RC-30, but I came to the conclusion that there is only a ditto from the loopers of this price category for alternating verse / chorus. Now I'm waiting for the delivery of this device.
I re-read the entire Internet, but did not find 2 things about ditto:
Can you tell me what model Takamine that guitar is. Also what make strings and gauge do you use? Thanks
sure thing. ND15c is the Takamine model. Using Elixir strings 12-53. :)
Pedals have an 'undo' and 'redo' function (for pretty much all loop pedals). so you can 'undo' the last recorded section, and then 'redo' it when you want it back in.
what loop pedal do you have?
@@davidshanhun Currently nothing ! But i'm thinking to buy same like you :) So i'm asking cause all advices help me to choose the best of :)
@@davidshanhun Very helpful bro! Thanks SO much!
you're welcome! :)
6:15 tasty lead playing!
Thanks!
What are you playing for this? Any advice on playing like this ?
Sir please can u give some examples on rc30 loop, coz I just bought it ,
Hi Namgyal :) Congrats on getting the RC30 it's awesome! You'll be able to loop any of the stuff that I do on the ditto x4 or the VL3 that has two separate loops on the Rc30. :) Hope you're having fun playing around already!
Thank u sir , love to watch ur videos ,
Sir but it sounds dry in rc30 can I need reverb pedal ?
nice job i may just pinch your arrangement
lol
please do!! 😊
@@davidshanhun Yeah, just a crazy suggestion. I play lefty. I'm considering if I should record videos reversed. hahaha
haha classic!
Not your best but you got thru it
cheers! :)
