I am a native english speaker and moved to Norway 6 years ago. Now that I have a fair grasp of Norsk, my ears now find the Danglish accent hilarious. Just so funny to hear :)
...Yes, they do have great ideas, but the Ditto X4 is not stable, not trusworthy and at some point in time the lights will come on and not shut off, making the looper useless and a lot of units have had this problem!!...
Wow, this is exactly what I need. I've been struggling with a simple loop pedal and was almost ready to give up on live looping. Well done guys, can't wait to get one of these ❤
Another great innovation from TC - love how their new products are always offering something new or breaking new ground. Was just expecting a two channel looper from the title.
I'm so stoked to see this product is coming to market. I built a prototype of something similar about four years ago, but when I tried to get a pedal company interested (Digitech I think it was) they kinda brushed me off and I gave up. What TC have done here looks awesome and totally fulfills the need I was designing for. I had thought of attaching a timing switch to the kick drum pedal, but TC's built-in mic is a big improvement on that.
Pete and Tore ! There is a very well balanced pair ! Can call them the Pete n Tore Jam X2 ! You 2 vibe really well (like the Jam). Both great guys. Xlnt vid, thx
Just bought. Trick would be to put a mic in a wooden block for your foot to use as a live tap tempo! If your enclose the lav mic inside it should block most noise more than your foot tapping. Going to try it.
I've never wanted a looper as mostly play live in a duo, but this is really interesting. If it works, as TC stuff usually does, then this could really help add to our live sounds. Great innovations again Tore!
I use the Ditto Stereo Looper in live situations, looping ambient guitar and vocals. I would so dig a stereo version of this, as I begin to play with more drummers!
I play solo acoustic and vocals, plus effects. I drift my tempo a lot in my live shows and get carried away. That's when it happens for the audience too. I'm gonna try this TC Jam 2. I could use some company to accompany. Cheers lads.
The electro-harmonix 2500 looper has been my go-to for a while. Running two loops simultaneously on the same time stamp is easy as pie with that puppy. A bit more money though, but I have found it is worth it. Love me some Danish Pete, and man that Tele...
Its still a learning pedal. With a beatbuddy or an sdrum you could work on learning songs while practicing. TC Electronics ROCKS! I'm probably going to have to get one of these to go with my X4.
Aside from being a Canadian of Danish decent (both parents are Danes), I’m also super proud to say that I own this pedal, love it and believe that it is truly a “game-changing” invention!
Interesting that TC’s most recent looper, the Ditto X4, wasn’t mentioned when discussing which pedals would remain in their offerings. I have one and have had mixed results with it and have only been able to get the midi sync (with a Beat Buddy) working by using a beta version of the firmware. This new pedal looks good for live performance with other musicians, but the Ditto X4 (with a drum machine/pedal) would be a more feature-rich option for solo live performances in my view.
Awesome ! It's the best match for my Digitech SDRUM, far better than the limited JamSync loopers feature ! The only downside for me is that it lacks stereo ins and outs... why ditto ??? And Pete oh Pete... Dude, you're awesome as usual, so inspiring !
This would be perfect if it had a set tempo like the Loop Station has. The reason everyone uses the Loop Station live is that it's so easy to make it work with backing tracks, playing to a click track etc. Really don't get why the Ditto Looper still doesn't have that function, it's such a nice pedal other than that!
You can load a mp3 backing track / drum loop from PC / MAC onto any of the dittos mate (upto the loop length limit of the device). Then you can loop over that til you're happy > store it > & pull it off as MP3 onto your PC / MAC. X2 was the best thing I ever bought for my rig - its a great recording device as well as a looper.
If you have a PA setup you can run youtube backing tracks through that. This will also work with with some headphones. I prefer to have the unlimited range of backing tracks available vs a limited amount of built in drum loops.
19:11 I was playing nicely along with the steady rythm of my neighbours, but then suddenly they pulled something out in a much higher frequency, and now my pedal is confused....
So - I just got the Ditto 4x a few months ago, and now just bought this today. Works as expected, but now I want a second channel for another part. Any chance this can work with other ditto loopers (like the 4x) in the future?
How about a demo with an electronic music setup? Not ideal? I have the x4 and the tiny one and was wondering if the Jam x2 can sync with drum machines/ synths. etc.
I would like to know if the pedal's microphone can keep up with a cajon? Can it be confused by picking up every hit on the cajon or does it track well with the rhythm?
This will work for me at home too. For example, I was using Ableton tonight, and trying to sync a looper was impossible, because of the creep you were describing. This is now on my Xmas list.
I love Tore. That guy is a badass and TC makes some good stuff too. I just wish I could find a looper with an instant erase. Playing live with a looper my biggest issue it that it takes a whole bar to press and hold before you can do a retake! At 200bpm 3 seconds to hold a button is way too long. Beat Sense is a great idea and I hope it comes to the Delay pedals too.
It looks a good looper, however how would it work with an electronic drum kit and everyone in the band using headphones or in ear monitors? It says it has built in microphones to detect the snare drum, but surely these won't work if we're using in ears on a 'silent' stage or studio?
Always listening? I didn't mind the FBI listening to me through my phone but now they are gonna be listening to my shitty guitar playing too? Unacceptable.
Really great improvement to the looper. I have the original mini Ditto and I barely ever use it because of this exact reason Looks like it might be kind of annoying if it makes decisions you don't want it to make based on ambient noise but otherwise it could be cool
I quite like these long clips. Great chemistry in front of the camera. Danish Pete …. What's the name of the band you play in where everybody plays more than one instrument and use a looper. It sounds intriguing
Will this work with non groove oriented music without percussion? Will it be able to detect subtlety in a performance with a violinist or a singer? Thinking more of a classical context.
I have to disagree and correct the guy on the right with the guitar that said loopers must be simple and for people at home... some people and most people actually make a whole show out of live looping. Feel free to check out Dub fx, FKJ, Tash Sultana, or even my channel haha hint hint :)
I use a looper live in my duet. It's helped get us more tips and makes songs a little longer if people are liking the song or start to dance half way through. 4 hour gigs it's nice to rest your hands for a sec then throw in a solo. :)
I’d be interested to see how that little mic would work by a snare while you’re playing ghost notes and a back beat. Would the ghost notes be picked up and throw it off I wonder?
hi great video and great pedal! i have the mini ditto and its great for home but not in a band. does this looper enable me to switch off whatever is being looped with one click? on the mini i have to do two quick taps and when playing live this is really difficult whilst playing guitar!
@Pete "Why MIDI with 128 instead of 129?" I suspect the reason is because it's digital and using an 8-bit signed integer. The maximum value an 8-bit signed integer can hold is 127. But if you include 0, that's 128 non-negative values. Back when the standard was being developed, computing and storage and speed in musical devices was limited, so they went with a small data type that could still hold the necessary number of values.
Most drummers drift the tempo without realizing it. It would be tough to try to keep changing your tempo during the song and perform your part. This is meant to streamline that and let you focus on your playing instead of the loop that keeps falling out of tempo.
Yeah, if the drummer isn't playing to a click it'll inevitably drift up and down in tempo slightly throughout the song.. you'd have to be continuously tapping to keep in time
Let me understand this. You can connect one instrument in the main input and another instrument in the microphone input and they will sync? Can one use a Drum Machine in the microphone input and say a bass guitar in the main input? What about a drum machine in the microphone input and then the mixer output (synthesised bass and drum signal) of a DigiTech Trio plus in the main input? Will that work? Guitar > Trio plus Trio plus (mixer out) > Ditto Jam main input Beat Buddy or DR880 > Ditto microphone input Trio plus (Amo out) > Audio Interface channel 2 Ditto out > Audio interface channel 3
I really want yo know that. Theres is no reviews taking the pedal to a real performance. Only videos playing with drum machines and drummers who not change beat pattern even once... Someone tried It in live giging??
If they were in one of these Viking longships, Tore would be getting the troops ready for battle and Danish Pete would be in the galley mixing lumpy gruel 😂
I play bass and guitar in a kirtan band and lots of times the tunes have tempo accelerations so this little guy might be able to follow the bands tempo dynamics!!
Danes talking danglish to each other is just so classy ;)
I was thinking the same.
Det' spøjst
I am a native english speaker and moved to Norway 6 years ago. Now that I have a fair grasp of Norsk, my ears now find the Danglish accent hilarious. Just so funny to hear :)
loiphin On this level it's hilarious :) But keeping a straight face when "important people" like CEOs and the likes go at it, is so scary XD
Yah, unable to properly pronounce "sh" as there is no such sound in Danish.
Love TC, innovating pedals in ways we need but don't know we need.
...Yes, they do have great ideas, but the Ditto X4 is not stable, not trusworthy and at some point in time the lights will come on and not shut off, making the looper useless and a lot of units have had this problem!!...
This is freakin genius! TC did it again. I need one.
The TC Vikings do it again. Another piece of top notch gear from the kings of the looper pedal :)
yamahamusicians the higher end ditto pedals will get bricked very easily. No firmware fix for that.
@@1dkappe ...too bad that the Ditto X4 has so many bugs!!...
Holy moly what a brilliant idea
...but will it stand the test of time!!...Ditto loopers are not very tustworthy thtough time!!
I have this pedal on my board after watching this video. This pedal is very great when you play on a live situation, you will love it.
Dude this stuff is just going to get better and better. So cool!
I'm so stoked to see this product is coming to market. I like Pete great personality for presenting makes it entertaining without actually having to bounce off anyone else 😃
Pete and Tore ! There is a very well balanced pair ! Can call them the Pete n Tore Jam X2 ! You 2 vibe really well (like the Jam). Both great guys. Xlnt vid, thx
The enclosure design is awesome. Good job TC! Very nice luber.
Lube is more greasy :-)
Just bought. Trick would be to put a mic in a wooden block for your foot to use as a live tap tempo! If your enclose the lav mic inside it should block most noise more than your foot tapping. Going to try it.
Great lighting … great layout , great clarity in the sound. Look forward to seeing the pedal in action
I've never wanted a looper as mostly play live in a duo, but this is really interesting. If it works, as TC stuff usually does, then this could really help add to our live sounds. Great innovations again Tore!
This is such an amazing pedal! Damn.
What a great idea. Awesome. Using a looper with real live percussion just gets messy. Big fan of the looking glass drive here.
good to see the looking glass getting some love. I love mine. it's my go to "always on" pedal
I use the Ditto Stereo Looper in live situations, looping ambient guitar and vocals. I would so dig a stereo version of this, as I begin to play with more drummers!
Stereo for me too please!
Love TC pedals
I play solo acoustic and vocals, plus effects. I drift my tempo a lot in my live shows and get carried away. That's when it happens for the audience too. I'm gonna try this TC Jam 2. I could use some company to accompany. Cheers lads.
Same here doing solo acoustic. How did you find this pedal? I'm thinking this or the Sheeran one. But this is half the price. Appreciate any input.
Gotta give them TC Electronic Wizardboyz a round of cheers for another fantastic LOOPER device! Driving me LOOPY, lemme tell ya! 😝
The electro-harmonix 2500 looper has been my go-to for a while. Running two loops simultaneously on the same time stamp is easy as pie with that puppy. A bit more money though, but I have found it is worth it.

Hace you tried it in live gigs? What about drum fills?

Tor is approaching Leo Fender status. Quickly.
Omar Rodriguez is my favorite user of a loop pedal live with a band
I don't need a new looper, but I just love watching two danes talk gear
Man, very cool innovation 👍

True - Every time I want to have a looping session I have to read the manuals on my two different loopers ...
When Pete gets tickled by how neat your pedal is, you know it's good.
I don’t know a great deal about the looper market, but this seems pretty revolutionary
Tore is majestic..like a uni-beast!!!
Awesome ! It's the best match for my Digitech SDRUM, far better than the limited JamSync loopers feature !
The only downside for me is that it lacks stereo ins and outs... why ditto ???
And Pete oh Pete... Dude, you're awesome as usual, so inspiring !
Wow... glad to hear that. Literally just ordered this to loop with my SDRUM!
You can also get a midi/JamSync cable to sync up an SDRUM and Ditto X4.
I think this is what I need to Play with my Drummachine.
Does it work if I connect it directly to it with a cable insted of using the Mic?
Yes, cable from drum machine will work. 👍
Playing starts at 08:22
Great idea. Could also make an auto tap tempo delay. That would be sick!
I think it would be cool, for the practice guy, to be able to load programmed drums for samples to play over
You can load a mp3 backing track / drum loop from PC / MAC onto any of the dittos mate
(upto the loop length limit of the device).
Then you can loop over that til you're happy > store it > & pull it off as MP3 onto your PC / MAC.

I'd love to watch the Danish Pete rendition of "not quite my tempo" scene from Whiplash with Ditto looper pedal playing the role of Miles Teller.
A must have, that's for sure!
This is amazing pedal , I need this in my 3 piece 🤘🏻
More genius delivered by Pedal Jesus.
Looking at one of these - thanks guys.
Will this work for keys also? Thanks for the quality content as usual...
I have another weird thing...when I read a TC manual I hear Tors voice reading it in my head...anyone else have that?
19:11 I was playing nicely along with the steady rythm of my neighbours, but then suddenly they pulled something out in a much higher frequency, and now my pedal is confused....
Does Jam X2 looper has extended loop function like Ditto+?🥺
cool can't wait to try it
The Timestretch is a pretty cool feature!
Ooooo, Danish friends!
what if the drummer plays some hits behind the beat or some crackbeat type stuff will the loop follow?
How many backing tracks can it hold?
So - I just got the Ditto 4x a few months ago, and now just bought this today. Works as expected, but now I want a second channel for another part. Any chance this can work with other ditto loopers (like the 4x) in the future?

Wow somethig actually new! :)
Should I buy one of these in 2024? I do aspire to use a looper live!
hey Danish Pete....................what looper do you use and buy???
I would like to know if the pedal's microphone can keep up with a cajon? Can it be confused by picking up every hit on the cajon or does it track well with the rhythm?
This will work for me at home too. For example, I was using Ableton tonight, and trying to sync a looper was impossible, because of the creep you were describing. This is now on my Xmas list.
Does it work as good when the drummer plays more on the cymbals instead of the snare ?
Does the loop in memory get erased when you change modes? Seems a double click is similar to double click & hold. Thanks
I love Tore. That guy is a badass and TC makes some good stuff too. I just wish I could find a looper with an instant erase. If i want to erase the recorded loop, what shell i do?which knob should i press?
How easy is it to layer loops and scratch one [most recent] that sucks? I can't figure out how to do that with my current looper.
This is amazing!
Will this work with non groove oriented music without percussion? Will it be able to detect subtlety in a performance with a violinist or a singer? Thinking more of a classical context.
Tore is so big that pete looks like a hobbit. Nice video and the product seems very handy..

Hi there, from Australia.

Wow i love this
VERY clever.
Great idea BUT if you can just tap it in anyway, wouldnt most guitarists prefer to do that than hope the mics are picking it up?
It seems like you can't do the tap tempo without stopping it, tapping in the tempo, and then restarting it.
David Beason Argh.

Beat Buddy or DR880 > Ditto microphone input
Trio plus (Amo out) > Audio Interface channel 2
Ditto out > Audio interface channel 3

This pedal is £180, is there a lower/cheaper model for someone like myself who has a tight budget?
How it takes drum fills, doesn’t it get lost?
I really want yo know that.
Theres is no reviews taking the pedal to a real performance. Only videos playing with drum machines and drummers who not change beat pattern even once... Someone tried It in live giging??
Is nice to see Baron Von Grumble work for TC.

yes
