Some stunning scenes mate! Sounds like you're ready to rock and roll Ben. If you want to come to a GTR session on a Tuesday night we can explore some more of the NDW. Looks like a solid plan mate! Look forward to following along with the plan dude! 😎🤘🏻
Thanks Ben, really appreciate that. Would love to get over to a GTR session but school nights are a bit of a tricky one for me! Will bear it a mind though and during holidays may be able to get over. Planning on doing a run from Dorking soon though at a weekend so if you'd be up for that for your Omen training then we could meet up 🏃♂️
@@timeonfeet Yeah I know it's not the easiest time for most people. Yeah that would be cool. I know me and Dan are planning on doing a recce toward Knockholt at somepoint potentially in April half term or something.
@@BenNotley Oh cool, would be up for that for sure. Just give me a shout and can get the train down. Was at Box Hill a few weeks ago and it was a proper mud bath but hopefully it's getting a bit better with the lower rainfall 😀
You are good for sharing your video and strong healthy.. 🎉💚❤️ i like your video running on the green way climbing mountain view wonderful day see your sharing.. 🎉🎉()!!!
Beautiful scenery around you! I think accumulating hours on feet is the best plan when it comes to ultra-training! I'm learning a lot from your videos! Keep pushing!
Thanks Paul, it's great around here with the trails and sights we've got. I thought just getting time out running would be better to get used to being out for a long time. Looking forward to having the excuse to be out on the trails more! Thanks for the support 👍
I’m not a big one for plans, although I am activate with my local running club so they keep us on it with a mix of sessions, I love running with others, sharing the experience is a joy. I want to get out with Sussex trail runners but there next run is the same day as Tunbridge Wells half which I am doing 🤦♂️, maybe March or April 🤞
It's great to run with others, been really enjoying that this year after being a bit of a running loner last year! I still love running alone too but the variety and social side is really important. Hopefully the March one won't clash with your events so you can make it along! February is from Lewes with STR and then I think they're doing a different location each month.
Thanks Ian. Hadn't been to those trails in a little while and one was a new one for me so looking forward to more of that in this training block. Thanks for watching 👍
Thanks very much Mihai. Looking forward to getting stuck into the new training program and hopefully finding more picturesque routes like this one. Thanks for watching, much appreciated 😄
Glorious place to run Ben. Loved the sunset and the hills. You appear to be very sensible, flexibility is important. From past experience, it is easy to be running very well, feeling almost immortal and then crashing as the overtraining sets in. I know vegan diets are much more planned these days, but do make sure you are getting enough vitamins (B12 can be a problem as I found during the period I was vegetarian and training heaviliy). I look forward to following your progress. Good luck friend.
Thanks Peter, it's great running around the Downs especially when you get a sunset like that 🌞 Will definitely keep the flexibility in mind and actually I've had to be flexible already in the first few days of the plan! Just taking two days off running to recover more from some more intense speed work last week. Worth being cautious I think like you say. I know what you mean with the b12, important to keep on top of. I've been vegan for 12 years now but in the early days didn't pay so much attention to supplements but with training and running now I more vigilant with this. Thanks for your thoughtful comments and support as always Peter, really appreciate it.
This is awesome mate. You've got it all dialled in. I'm looking forward to the weekly vids to see how it all goes. That run along the river Ouse (no idea how to pronounce it) looks beautiful.
Thanks Neil. It's a great run there, hoping to go back to the River Ouse for another training run very soon. Looking forward to getting stuck into the plan 😄
Thanks, it's a great set of routes to have nearby. The riverside one was a new one for me, definitely going to go back there for sunset soon! Thanks for the support 👍

Hi Ben I've just signed up for the NDW50 today. Thanks for sharing, looks like an excellent plan that obviously served you well last May on your brilliant run. looking forward to getting out on the North downs for some serious training ( Not always possible when you live in Essex)
Hi Ty. Great to hear you've signed up for the race, it's a great event. I was really happy with the plan overall, only one thing really I'd change if I went back again and that would be to get more elevation in, to have more weeks where I'm pushing towards the 6000ft mark. That may have made some of the climbs a little easier on the day! Hope your race prep goes well
@@timeonfeet Thanks Ben, I've got an Ultra up in Yorkshire dales in a few weeks so that will test the legs and I did the Shere a few weeks back like yourself so that will be a good route in the future.
Great video, I'm running the same race, it will be my first 50. I live in flatland so I'm going to find the hills a challenge. I'd love to give some tips, but I'm new to this myself. What I have learnt on my 50K races is that eating early in the race, and consuming enough calories is vital. I've followed you on Strava, see you in May.
Thanks Nigel, really appreciate that. Good to hear you're signed up to the NDW50 too. Completely agree on fueling, I've found that crucial too with ultras. Can be tricky later in when the stomach isn't feeling it so getting the fuel in early is vital. Hope your training has been going well so far. Will give you a follow on strava too so can follow your training 👍
@@timeonfeet Your training looks very similar to my own other than I had a week off curtesy of Covid in January 😀 I even did a solo M a couple of weeks ago, and considered the Endurance Life 50k as a warm up race, but opted for St Peters Way Ultra last week. Currently on a recovery week. I'm no where near as organised as you, and tend to just make it up as I go along 🤣
@@nigelb1851 That sounds really similar especially with the solo marathon and warm up 50k! Hope the recovery after Covid has been OK. I haven't done an endurance life event before so this will be my first, looks like a nice route from Eastbourne way. Hilly but nice 😄
@@timeonfeet I was lucky with covid, very mild symptoms, never lost any fitness thankfully. I liked the look of that 50K, may do it one year, quite fancy running the 7 sisters. But I went for St Peters as it's closer to home this time. Good luck with it.
@@nigelb1851 cheers Nigel, good to hear it was mild and didn't have an impact on fitness. My partner was the same with it but also know a few people and it has lingered for a while. Would definitely recommend running seven sisters, really liked it when I went.
Looks good mate. A great idea to have that test ultra 2 months before. REALLY make sure you don't race it and worry about splits or anything. Take it real easy and wear everything you will be taking in May. I personally would take out the S&C in the last week and maybe take a look at Yoga for runners with Adrianne to help with that clear, relaxed mind with some great runners stretches added in! Good luck with it all, and enjoy the process :)
Cheers Phil and thanks for the suggestions, much appreciated. Will check out the yoga stuff, haven't done much of this before but when I have it's been good both for relaxation and agility. That's definitely something I'll need to remind myself of for the 'dress rehearsal' race to just take it easy!
@@timeonfeet it’s really tough taking it easy. We all get caught up in the moment and run strong in the first half when we should be easing back! Oh yes, and it’s pronounced the river Oooze :)
@@trailrunningphil I've certainly had that before where I've got too caught up in the race and then realised I'm spent at half way! Ah that's good to know how it's pronounced 👍 Was wondering what it was 😄
Great video, just found your channel. Really interested in ultra running despite never running more than a half. Keep up the great videos, will be interesting to follow your journey. What's your view on Altra Lone Peaks? I've just bought the brand new ones which come next week but I'm not sure if they'll suit me as I'm not the strongest of runner.
Thanks for watching Gary and taking the time to comment, much appreciated 👍 I haven't used any Altras yet but I am considering exploring them at some point as I have quite wide feet and I've heard they're good for that. Lots of people rave about the Lone Peak but I couldn't comment personally. Be good to hear how you find them.
