I was on keto for 6 months. I lost 30 kgs but I was low in energy and feeling dizziness. I have to stopped. Than I go vegan. I feel so much better now ❤
I myself did a Ketogenic diet last year lost 20 kgs and felt terrible, now eat a Whole foods plant-based diet and feel amazing so much energy that I had never had before.
Did you have a lot of rebound weight gain? I am in a bariatric non surgical program and they want me to basically do a low carb diet, even after I explained I dont do well on them and feel terrible on keto. They say I have to do the diet to be in compliance with the program. 0 carb for the first 2 weeks to detox, but they did allow 0 carb veggies, then at week 3 to month 3 I can add in only ONE serving of carb stuff per day like legumes and steel cut oats, but otherwise stick to a meat, dairy and a 0 carb veggie. Then month 3 and beyond, still only 1 carb, and other "treat" food to allow lole once or twice a month loke high sugar fruits such as watermelon or pineapples which are my favorite. I'm scared once I end the diet the weight will rebound. I was down almost 7lbs on the diet in 5 days, probably mostly water, and I had to stop it for a bit because I got stressed and rushed for time and was eating whatever I could just to have energy..still at or below my calorie budget I was doing before, and I was having pelvic pain so I was drinking watered down cranberry juice, still within calorie budget, but I was SHOCKED at how aggressively and quickly the weight came back after adding carbs back!! It took 5 days to lose 7 lbs, and after 7 days I gained it all back plus an additional 4lbs, so a total of 11lbs and almost 2lbs a day! I really feel it too 😭!! Did you experience weight gain rebound when you switched from keto to plants?
I faithfully followed Keto/Carnivore for over 8 years (yes, really!), but in the end, not only had I gained even more weight (well over 30lbs), but it also sent my insulin resistance into orbit, & not even loads of insulin could get my blood sugar down to anywhere near normal. It was jolly scary. As my digestion had also thrown in the towel & refused to digest animal protein any more regardless of what I tried (I’d had to make myself vomit to get rid of the meat that had been stuck in there for over 16 hours!), I had no option but to go plant-based. I just juiced for the first month to give my poor beleaguered digestion a break. Whilst my BG stayed high for the first month as my body cleared the ectopic fat, by the end of the first 4 weeks it suddenly started to drop, my insulin sensitivity returned & I had to radically cut my insulin intake by more than half (50+ units to 20 or even less). I also lost 11lbs. I still struggle with any fat intake, both with my digestion & blood sugar. The more fat/oil I ingest, the more insulin I need to control my blood sugar. I loved Keto because it gave me ‘permission’ to indulge my love of fatty foods, but it did me no favours in the long run.
I'm on my third week Being Vegan and love it and feel so fantastic no more pain in my. Bones no more heart pain and heart burn. I'm a type 2 Diabetic and my score from 170 down to 135 and my heart went down from 157/90 to 123/73 it's amazing. I'm going to be vegan the rest of my life at 50. Plus its helping me with hormones that i was putting overload estrogen with Milk and dairy products. I love my chia seed cereal that gives me 12 grams protein 😋
Wow. I cried all the way through her interview! Thank you so much for sharing this. I’m on the same journey, and I entirely agree. My numbers are all improving and my doctor is fighting me on it tooth and nail. Listening to your story of courage, keeps me connected to my own power to choose what’s best for me. My blood pressure numbers have gone down from 150/92 to 112/74. My A1c is 4.8. I’ve lost 50 pounds and, like you say, the weight loss is just a perk that accompanies me on my travels as I continue feeling more vital, vibrant and connected to myself, and the earth at age 60 then I did at age 40!!!! Thank you so much!
Wow what a doctor, seeing results and still not supporting your dietary choice. Just keep going, ignore anything related to nutrition that your doctor says and prove him/her 100% wrong. Good for you on your progress!
I did keto for a year and my cholesterol was dangerous high and feeling very sick. I've been vegan for 6 years and I'm feeling very healthy and happy with my weight
I didn't do keto, but I ate meat and diary, thinking that I am eating healthy. I was ok BMI but my cholesterol was 280. Once I cut the meat and diary, my cholesterol went to abt 110 in one year.
I think this is a great guest! I think she is relatable to a lot of people and I'm happy that she has found a way to be healthier and I like her advice on teaching your children to make healthier choices. 🌻
My coworker did keto and started having horrible kidney problems. It got to the point where he was doing dialysis once a week. Due to the cost and his lack of energy, he just fell off the wagon and started eating normal crap again..... And his kidneys came back online. I never thought the SAD diet could be beneficial, but keto is so bad SAD is healing in comparison 😮
I don’t think anyone thinks a wfpb diet or a keto diet are worse than the SAD diet. Cutting out processed foods and replacing them with whole foods will almost certainly be better in every case.
Fascinating how people are so physically different. I read people who saved their kidneys going carnivore and others who saved their kidneys going WFPB. The hardest thing is listening to one's body the mind always wants to control it but the body must be listened to because it tells us what it needs.

What a delightful guest! I loved her story, her courage, and her enthusiast. She is also very relatable and well spoken. I plan to share this with friends who have diabetes. I think she'll be a real inspiration to them. Thanks so much for sharing!!
Your topic is VERY IMPORTANT. Keto may be an intro to rapid weight loss; long term health risk are very real reality after the honeymoon period stops!!! Been there and now WFPB believer! This gal resonates strong wisdom !!!
When I went wfpb I lost 30 lbs, but it took about a year. I’m glad it was slow because I think my body accepts the weight loss better and doesn’t start craving. You’re right that health is priority and the weight will get where it should be.
All the fear the animals being slaughtered, all that adrenaline, remains in the meat. Animals are too similar to us and our immune system can and does confuse the animal proteins being absorbed via the gut with leaky gut, my arthritis was dreadful when trying Keto. My joints were being attacked by my diet. When I quit Keto and went WFPB (Whole Foods Plant-Based), I got relief in a day or too, with complete pain relief in about 3 weeks. Keto had also pushed my gallbladder over the edge, had to have an emergency surgery as the gallbladder was at the point of exploding. The surgery saved my life. I began the Dr. John McDougall, Starch-Based diet. I began losing weight. Overall I have lost 80 lbs., and feel good. I walk 5 miles a day when the weather isn’t too cold. I do indoor exercises at home or go to the gym when the weather is cold.
Great conversation. I love the point Annie makes about the importance of focusing on nutrition as opposed to weight loss. Even though I haven't personally struggled with weight, once I started seeing food as nutrition instead of calories (and entertainment to be honest) it completely changed my relationship with food. And my overall health and my athletic performance have improved immensely.
What a fascinating story. Thinking about that admonition, "you're going to get hunger pangs again [by going plant-based]." Isn't that like...kinda how humans work? We get hungry, we eat. That cycle connects to other cycles, like sleeping. Imagine eating being "a chore" rather than a delight...sociologically fascinating.
For real. I went keto for 3 years thanks to the propaganda. Did more research and WFPB is what I've switched to. I now have hunger actually.. exist, but whole foods are very satiating for the caloric value so you can eat when you're hungry anyways.
❤ the bunnies behind her. I'm so glad she found her way. The animal suffering is bad enough, now people already desperate for healing are being mislead even MORE. I have a friend experiencing this right now. He does keto because thats what he can stick with - its sad...
I really enjoyed this interview, thank you! Annie has obviously gained a lot of wisdom through her health journey and sharing it is an invaluable contribution to humanity. I myself decided a few months ago to return to a plant-based diet that I’d switched to in 12/15 and gradually strayed from (probably around the pandemic period);only to regret it as I now too have T2D. Seeing her results strengthens my resolve to stay on course and be patient through my oen journey.❤
I'm 77 y.o.,11 years vegan and down 75 lb. The switch was a life saver. My aches and pains disappeared. My husband changed with me and only asked that the food taste good and filled him up. Outside the house he eats what he wants, but even then the results for him are also amazing.
Loved this conversation; thank you!! What an amazing human! And the details of what she noted are so important for people to understand... now if only SAD eaters would watch. Thank you both! 😊❤
New to WFPB. I’m not diabetic, but LDL and other markers were heading there, so I’m making changes now. Plant based for 2 months now. I’m immersed in learning. I’ve tried Keto and felt bad. You do lose weight, but your LDL goes up. I don’t want to count anything or obsess over food, or spend hundreds on vitamins. If we’re honest, just cut out processed foods- those are killing all of us! I am wary of anyone who says this is the “only way”. IMO, we are built to consume all the nutritious plants, nuts, seeds, and fruits on this planet to feed your microbiome. Diet is only 1 of the pillars of health. Fasting, exercise and mental health are the others for me. Here is something funny. I live near Cleveland OH, the Cleveland Clinic,so I was looking at their functional medicine programs. They have BOTH the Mark Hyman (Keto type) program and the Dr. Esselstyn WFPB no oil program. To me that is both funny and telling about the medical community. For me, I will listen to my body, eat real food, exercise more, get regular bloodwork, and get outside in nature!
The Cleveland Clinic has both types of diet!?! Wow, that actually gives me some hope that medicine might be turning around, maybe really looking at health and not what is the newest pill.
Cutting out oil at least at home is doable. I cook without oil for few years already, and I don't miss it a bit. The only thing that I missed going WFPB were my soft boiled eggs😊I cut them out too, but it took me few months to stop craving them. Additionally, I love to wash my dishes without greasy residue❤🎉❤ I follow Dr.McDougall and get ideas from Chef AJ and her guests. I develop my own dishes, to make myself happy and healthy.
@@11235Aodh You do not understand human metabolism. Excess carbohydrates are toxic to the brain. Our brains are designed to metabolize carbohydrates quickly in order to prevent brain damage from too much sugar in the blood.
The liver doesn’t make carbohydrates. It’s stores carbohydrates. In fact, it stores glucose that it turns into glycogen that can be stored for later use. If you’re not an eating a sufficient amount of carbohydrates, there’s no glucose to store.
Great interview! Congrats to Annie for transitioning to a healthy WFPB lifestyle and awakening to the effects our diet has on human health, planetary health and the needless suffering of animals. A WFPB way of life is it!!!
I have to praise my former doctor (I've moved out of her area, now, so unfortunately don't get to see her any more). When she saw a constant stream of people presenting with ailments and conditions that could be fixed by lifestyle choices and diet, she realised she knew very little about nutrition. So she studied a degree in nutrition in her spare time and as well as being a GP is now a fully qualified nutritionist as well. This means that she rarely turns to medication, but has the knowledge to advise her patients about how they can regain their health through what they put in their bodies. She is a strong advocate of a plant-based diet so long as it includes whole grains.
In response to Annie's pushback on weight: Yes, weight is not the end all be all but it does have a causal relationship in multiple aspects of health, not least of which is heart health. This weight issue also applies to body builders who are heavy due to muscle mass. Your heart must work harder the more weight you carry. This affects your long term longevity and endurance. Both obese people and body builders have lower than average life spans in large part due to their hearts giving out, literally, under the weight of their bodies. Weight also places a large role in join and spinal health which becomes particularly noticeable as you get into your later years, think post 50. I personally know multiple older people who are having to face this reality now because of all the stress they put on their bodies over their lifetimes due to their weight. We should not be trivializing weight, I believe it is irresponsible to do so. That said, yes there are other health issues that are correlated with weight but not necessarily causal. However, If you become healthier in most cases you will get a more normalized body weight. In the US this typically means losing weight but it can also meaning gaining weight if someone is underweight.
Her weight continues to come down, there was only a brief period where her weight loss had subsided. Ultimately our bodies go through different stages of recovery. It can take years for some aspects such as hormones to rebalance.
Fellb for the keto con for 3 years, until I did further research. Saturated fat is no joke. Ethics and environmental impact is just a happy bonus side effect of doing better for your own body.
I love this video! I was in keto before going plant based and felt terrible! I've been plant based for 4 years now and my youngest son who's 15 is vegan ( he eats some vegan alternatives) but my older boys aren't because they were adults already. Whenever my son is in pain or doesn't feel good, he automatically thinks about what he ate... Not should I take some medicine or go to the doctor. I quit smoking 5 years ago 👍
It would be great if the medical universities would give more attention to nutrition and route case analysis than solving what is already there... plus vegan is clearly much better for everybody, environment and animals ❤
There are some days where all I eat is beans for breakfast and rice for lunch then beans for dinner again. I'm able to eat 1200 calories like this and then fall asleep peacefully. I'm sure it could be better in terms of nutrients but really it's been SOOO much better for me than when I eat microwave chicken nuggets, ground turkey meatloaf, or eggs.
the medical industry in the USA is a mess. Common sense tells us that consuming animals is fora carnivore and humans are not carnivores. Like DUH. As a type 1 I consume crazy amounts of fruits daily. Sometimes 5 and 6 pieces a day/
Keto diet actualy gave me a literal heart attack. Oh God that's the most scariest moment in my life. I went plant-based and never eat meat again. I'm traumatized by meat.
I am wondering about her doctor. Prescribed Keto? Really? I lost weight slowly on a WFPB diet. About 6 pounds a year. And 6 years later I am still around 35 pounds lighter and at my ideal weight. BMI = 23. I did it for other reasons than weight like bringing down LDL.
How old our your children ? How did you cope with your children ? I have 5 teenagers and Mine are 12,5-17,5 and unfortunately they want omnivore diet . And my husband is coeliac so I do do 3 types of cooking . But they do have vegetables , lentils etc . And then they eat it . Thank goodness One step after the other
Why would a "doctor" recommend Keto? The research is not great overall. It's sad when doctors jump on diet trends instead of listening to literally every health organisation on the planet. Literally everyone (health organisations, heart associations, dietitians associations etc) recommends: Whole foods, mostly plants, and not too much.
Keto is the recipe for diseases, not to mention constipation. Plant based is the way to better health and feeling great. After just a week of my husband eating plant based he has HALVED his diabetes medication.
It is about your nutrition and about your weight. When your nutrition is out of whack and your body is covered in fat, all the organs have harder time to function properly. Hell, I want to be healthy, but I also wan to look awesome in swim suit. I am not going to sacrifice my love of soft boiled eggs to still be overweight. I make my sacrifices, but I want results too. I wanted to be healthy and look great. I achieved that with WFPB diet. Good luck to everyone who tries and applies changes in their nutrition.
It will not going to reverse your diabetes within just a year. It's not a miracle cure. Just do it for 3 - 5 years straight and you would see a lots of improvement. And please do not eat junk foods, always do it with whole unprocessed and please diversify your food(eating different plants with different colors) helps to accelerate the healing process.
The appetite suppression of keto is the only thing I enjoyed about it, until like she mentions the food aversions came… I didn’t want to eat because it was the same stuff
What is? Whole food plant based no sos literally cures about 30 diseases including type 2 diabetes and heart disease. Carnivore diets cause type 2 diabetes and heart disease.
Look so many people talk rubbish 🗑 look history wot did we the people eat 200 years ago when you went to look for food you didn't say lets go plant based no meat meat yes you can change but meat the way so much corruption in the food industry today meats the way that's why your here not because of plant based diet because of meat take care all and remember if its good for you then ok happy days but if people like meats happy days

Interesting lady today. I enjoyed her insights and how she is getting healthy on the plant based diet. Oh, she's a good singer too!
Great interview!! Thanks❤
Great guest. Feel really happy for her success in health! ❤]
I have same experience ❤ did keto half year and recovering from it for a year.
Seriously an amazing story! And her voice is out of this world ❤️
*You Did Not Choose To Be Classified As Diabetic, But You Can Choose To Fight Back Against Diabetes* 💪
The music at the end was beautiful!!
That was a great song.
Wonderful conversation! Thank you both
In response to Annie's pushback on weight: Yes, weight is not the end all be all but it does have a causal relationship in multiple aspects of health, not least of which is heart health.
Wow!This was great! She is so smart. The way she explains it.
GREAT interview -- Really an amazing woman -- and, what a voice !!!!
Fellb for the keto con for 3 years, until I did further research. Saturated fat is no joke. Ethics and environmental impact is just a happy bonus side effect of doing better for your own body.
I liked this so much i listened to it twice. ❤
I have a female holistic faith based doctor and she is the best doctor ever. She never judges my weight but always keeps a close eye on my lab work
Beautiful Voice. I love it. ❤
Been vegan 🥑 going on eight years and I’m never going back
I love this video!
Lovely snack advice too. 😊
Did Annie go back and inform her MD of these results? Her links dont work.
Never fall for fad diets. Whole food, plant based wins.
Life can be beautiful. Without harming animals
This is an interesting and inspiring conversation 🙏
The real problem is a lot of y’all don’t work out period. That’s on ANY diet. Not cutting out the oils either.
I couldn't imagine going on a keto diet. That sounds like hell and I'm not even a vegan.
Putting the products of abuse and suffering into your body causes you suffering, ironic.
Yes ☹️
the medical industry in the USA is a mess.
0:12 i guess she's talking about a _whole foods_ plant-based diet ^^
Duh!
I'm wondering if she also grows some of her own food at home, good exercise, healthy food and cheaper and fresher than buying from store.
Thank goodness
One step after the other
2:16 the problem is not keto. The problem is you cut out fruits and vegetables, which is not keto.
The insta doesn’t work ?
Can we get a lawyer? Congratulations!! You are beautiful. Thank you for sharing
This is a great interview! Thanks for highlighting Coyote Annie.
What is the advice to transition off keto?
Good for her
Why would a "doctor" recommend Keto? The research is not great overall.
It's sad when doctors jump on diet trends instead of listening to literally every health organisation on the planet.
Literally everyone (health organisations, heart associations, dietitians associations etc) recommends: Whole foods, mostly plants, and not too much.
Keto is the recipe for diseases, not to mention constipation.
Plant based is the way to better health and feeling great.
After just a week of my husband eating plant based he has HALVED his diabetes medication.
Wait what!? Joe best? I remember him from back in the day of Thailand and fruit festivals etc
I was on Keto lost muscle mass and water. You lose weight on keto, but majority is not fat, its water weight and muscle mass. Be careful with Keto
Great story
Doctors should know how diabetes works.
I tried a modified keto over the summer and felt horrible.
I wish she was my neighbor and friend 💚🌱💚
I wonder how many doctors are giving this awful advice to their patients
I really want to follow her on Instagram but can't find her.
Good luck to everyone who tries and applies changes in their nutrition.
shes so
Have been plant based for almost a year, lost 80 pounds but still diabetic! WTF?
It will not going to reverse your diabetes within just a year. It's not a miracle cure. Just do it for 3 - 5 years straight and you would see a lots of improvement. And please do not eat junk foods, always do it with whole unprocessed and please diversify your food(eating different plants with different colors) helps to accelerate the healing process.
Great testimony. Eating mostly plant based does have health benefits. That should be a no brainer but people still want to promote otherwise smh
Her doctor probably took his medical academics from a correspondence school.
Many doctors do not study nor focus on nutrition. Medications and procedures are what pay the rent.
@@Spock_Rogerswhich makes it even more incredible that her's has the gall to prescribe a quack diet.
PragerU no doubt....
word
❤
The appetite suppression of keto is the only thing I enjoyed about it, until like she mentions the food aversions came… I didn’t want to eat because it was the same stuff
👏👏👏👏
Prof. Dr. Roy Taylor
Holy shhhiii that voice! More please! 😅
💚💕
GO "VEGAN"
Hm?
Nope it’s not a cure. It’s just a fix.
What is? Whole food plant based no sos literally cures about 30 diseases including type 2 diabetes and heart disease. Carnivore diets cause type 2 diabetes and heart disease.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Most people going animal based are thriving the point is to stop eating processed foods whether your animal based or plant based.
yeah my uncle says so too, thats enough proof! forget peer reviewed science, thats for nerds.
Is that why the ERs, hospitals, and doctors' offices are only full of Vegans?

Look so many people talk rubbish 🗑 look history wot did we the people eat 200 years ago when you went to look for food you didn't say lets go plant based no meat meat yes you can change but meat the way so much corruption in the food industry today meats the way that's why your here not because of plant based diet because of meat take care all and remember if its good for you then ok happy days but if people like meats happy days
