It seems like a good way to make sure people keep pushing. It shows that you recognize their improvement, but that there is still room to continue the improvement.
Herb Brooks never went to charm school If he did he would’ve flunked He was intense He was abrasive He was the best college hockey coach in the country
I've seen the footage from the games at Lake Placid. The biggest thing I noticed was that the US team was not the best at passing or coordination, but they played aggressively and were very fast. This pedal to the metal intensity seemed to be their biggest advantage and they exploited it brilliantly.
This victory of the Americans over the Soviet national team is not the merit of Herb Brooks, but the set of mistakes of the Soviet national team. The US team could not even make the Soviet hockey players make a mistake, they themselves were wrong. You can shoot as many pretentious shit as you like, but the fact remains that none of that team’s hockey players has become a star, and the USSR national team after that Olympic games has never lost to the United States, no matter who coached them - Brooks, Schmuks, Sucks or Fucks.
@@alexx9491Nah, that’s some pro-Russian propaganda right there. It came down to better coaching and better hustling. It came down to more heart from the USA.
Mike Gallien one of my favorite quotes, it's been my motto this past year, as I lost 35 pounds through a combination of skiing,,biking, hiking, and just going to,the gym when I couldn't do the others.
I'm not even a huge hockey fan, but I love a good sports movie and good inspirational speeches. This movie has both. I love the pregame speech the most, with my 2nd favorite being the one before the 3rd period.
Maybe it was the fact that I trained in Track & Field for 8 years and wolves have always been one of my favorite animals…. But this quote always stuck with me. It’s practically become a mantra at this point. Obviously when I’m trying to push myself to another level while doing anything involving my legs. “Legs feed the Wolf!”
In 2021, they would have to bring in non-NHL players free agents and college players to get them used to each other I mean most of the players who played for the gold medalists, Olympic Athletes from Russia were bought by SKA Saint Petersburg (owned by a state-controlled gas company)
Kris Wilson my teammate made the movie no speaking role but earned $70k playing a big USA defenseman. I went to casting call in Duluth and made it past first cut but not to final film.
Continuity mistake: Bill Ranford (who played Jim Craig in the action scenes) is wearing a modern one piece chest and arm protector which was not available in 1980.
as a mexican american i was in a hockey team and tell you what guys this training that i has to endure holly shit it is torture painful you gotta have legs of steel to survive 4rts of the the game playing fast and very presistant
best is that the kid who played Eruzione is from Danvers MA. Which is about 10 miles from Winthrop MA, Eruzione's home town. He sorta got the accent ok, lol
I love hockey but damn, I hated practice under coach Sawyer, at central catholic HS. Just punishment. We were the best conditioned team in the merrimack valley in 1988, because he beat us down, and built us up. He wouldn't dump pucks until an hour of skating..But the prep schools were too damn good. Andover, new Hampshire, st. Jhons, billerica, chelmsford, methuen, even lowell and dracut......they killed us until 90. We could skate, but no tactics. Coach lost his wife. Bad times. Hockey in Massachusetts is life itself. Only a few get to take it further. My brother took the sport on to coaching his two sons and team to a state championship in New Mexico. They'res nothin like a good hockey coach.....you hate em so much that the pain gets turned to aggression against the opponent....if the coach does it right. Hockey prepared me for the marines and the marines prepared me for life.
did my guy just say sports teams need to train like this today and they worry about the money? My coaches dont get paid a dime for coaching my team and they still train us very hard
There is a notable goof with this movie: This movie took place in 1980. So they should use metal rod skates. Instead we see modern day CCM and Bauer skates that they're using.
the "more teams need to train like this" comments are really stupid lmfao. first of all this is a movie. 2ndly, you dont think teams already have hard practices at appropriate times? of course they do. 3rdly, you want to over-train and exhaust your squad before an important game? please people use your head before leaving such stupid comments
yeah I got that one, in that time isn't what I got at my hands, and I will continue the fastest I can to have this issue going viral in the media... Le p'tit Daniel, in case my actings up to now aren't sufficient for the media to unleash ( and unfortunately I guess it being so... ) I will bring a onetimer in eventually around the ides of January and I won't hesitate at all... ...and well I guess this way it will be sufficient... ...besides you call, what I do since summer to get an < Anzeige > concurrence of offenses, and they will have to account for the fact, that they did not want to go for any prosecution at all so far... ...now why could that be?
"Better. Not good, but better."
It seems I always find a reason to use this line several times a week.
With that attitude I’m sure you have gone far in your profession

Was every game of the tournament a comeback too, in so that they were behind at some point, even if it ended in a stomp in some cases?
“Don’t let him have ya Jimmy atta boy atta boy YA!” Love this scene!
We not looking for the best players, we’re looking for the right players
So true
Herb Brooks. Beat the Soviets at their own game. Great players need great coaching. Thank you Coach Brooks.

"it will only work once"
"We only need it to work once"
no one ever attacked the Soviets on the Ice, but Herb and his team did.
And I enjoy that small moment at 0:41. Those two were the ones that earlier on had had a fight.
can't believe Jack Hughes got cut from the 1980 Olympic team but now is going to get drafted 1st overall
Patrick, he just needed a few developmental years
Are you stupid? Jack Hughes wasn’t even alive in 1980 he was born in 2001.....

Felt like the screen was getting smaller as the video went on
Me too
I always hated hearing this words during practice. “Legs feed the wolf” and “AGAIN!!”
I get flashbacks when anyone shouts "AGAIN"
Bag skating always sucks.
Motivating words, I believe.
Best scene of the movie!!!!!!!!!
Awesome clip!
Truly inspiring
Tampa Bay Lightning : You need to do this every game time
More U.S. Teams should take the TIME to prepare for International Tournaments like this!
Bob Gibson I'd like to see that too but sadly contracts limit what they are allowed to do..
Maybe this year.

you know this is a movie right??
My coach made us do that one time because we didn't listen. We were so tired after
Eden Shevel one time? I’ve been getting this shit for 16 years
What did you eat for dinner that night?
Eden Shevel my coach would put a trash can at centre ice and if it wasn’t half way full of puke then we failed
Womens hockey is ridiculous
"The legs feed the wolf". What I tell myself before every leg day.

I think the only reason for that is bc they were using real pucks for some of the scenes and him using a vintage 2 piece would’ve been painful
@@nolanschaefer1207 he’s a professional goaltender. Even won a Cup. He grew up with two piece arm and chest protectors. He would have survived.
