  • In this episode of the route learning series, we take a look at the Nahverkehr Dresden route which comes with the Train Sim World 2 Rush Hour package, and I drive a full run along the route between Riesa and Dresden. Utilising timetable mode in summer with light cloud in a BR 146.2 locomotive, we follow the timetable of train RE50, the 07:45 departure from Riesa through to Dresden, with stops along the way including Glaubitz, Nünchritz, Priestewitz, Niederau, Weinböhla, Coswig, Radebuel Ost, Dresden Neustadt, Dresden Mitte, and finally Dresden Hauptbahnhof - with the total distance for the journey being around 55km, or just under 35 miles.

    When in PZB 45kmh starting programme/ restrictive monitoring I heard that actual drivers always drive 40km/h just because of how strict pzb is.

      That's the rule for all of the pzb modes, 5km/h under the specified limit.

      To be more specific its a rule in our rulebook. This is because if youre in bad weather and get wheelslip your trains speed gauge may go above the Restriction and stop it.

    24:40 Nope. The HUD is actually correct.
    What you just passed was a Geschwindigkeitsanzeiger, or a speed indicator in English, and the displayed speed limit comes into force at the points *after* the signal.

    When you signed up the 146 the train, doesn't sign up the displays, as it relates to real life where some of the locomotive display signs don't work, and plus there are different from with number ranges. TSW2 give us two options with the 146, I recommend using the 1st train as that one will have the working displays, and the engine will sound different to the other one that you were using in the video. Also you forgot to turn on the headlights as, the train was still on the taillights, I'm not sure how you would work them for PC, as I'm a platform user, like Playstation and XBOX but yeah, other then that the video was great.

    Hey ptgrail...
    I'm always enjoying your videos... Keep them rollin'
    About the german pronounciation... as a native German I can confirm that Riesa is spoken like 'REESA'
    In German 'ie' in this order is alwas spoken as a prolonged 'i' which would sound like an english 'ee' (like in sEEk)
    Whereas a german 'ei' in THIS order would sound like 'aye' in english
    The German 'eu' syllable within a word like in "hEUte" (which means today) is almost always pronounced like an english 'oy' syllable like in "toy"
    Don't mean this as a wiseacre here just
    hoping i could help you a little and i'm looking forward for your next video
    Howdy 😉

      Thank you for this! It’s helpful as I always want to get and get my pronunciations as accurate as possible. I did way better in German at school than French, but have still forgotten most of it!
      I spend a lot of time in Poland these days, and noticed with some of the pronunciations with “ie” in them I was pronouncing them in more of a Polish than German way.
      I’ll try and remember everything you said here for future German videos. :)

      @@PTGRail Hi. I just want to remind you that by default, the train lights are in the Taillights configuration. which means during the whole video, the lights were incorrectly set up. there is a switch behind you that changes the headlight modes.

    @PTGRail are you sure that you turned on the headlights at the front of the train, because it appears to me that you might have left the tail lights on at the front of the train.

    • @PTGRail
      @PTGRail  2 роки тому +3

      I agree with you. But the only other headlight setting is full beam, which you don’t use during the day time. It’s the same with the BR 101.

    • @PTGRail
      @PTGRail  2 роки тому +2

      You can’t start in full power on this loco either - the wheels slip. That’s why I was gradually stepping it up instead.
      As for the braking, I’d never use full service brake normally. Always need that extra braking force just in case! :)

    What does the blue 85 box symbol mean on the screen?

    • @PTGRail
      @PTGRail  2 роки тому +1

      That's related to the PZB signalling system. As I'm in passenger mode, that's why the 85 lamp is illuminated. What it means in effect is that if I pass an adverse PZB magnet (due to a speed reduction to below 85kph, or a red signal ahead), I have 23 seconds in which to slow the train to below 85kph or else the emergency brakes will be applied.
