Honestly, I don't really trust Dovetail. I bought TSW2 on Steam after playing it on Xbox One (because my gaming PC was broken) and before I got a chance to play it on PC, they released TSW3. And then they released TSW4. And Now TSW5. The game looks fine, but it's not worth it to me if the game is replaced every year with little changes and more undelivered promises.
Yeah I agree, Definitely not buying from any developer that's just bumping out the same game every year or so.
Why would they care about issues with their current game when they can just rinse and repeat releasing another one every year. Now they're charging even more money just for "early access". Yeah no thanks
My sentiments exactly.
First one I was happy to give a go after playing Train Sim Classic since 2012.
Then they announced the third one not long after I got TSW.
By that point I knew it's just a cash grab.
Rather than update the improvements to the first one, they just make a copy and slap a number on it like it's a new game.
Dovetail Games is very good at making money at the cost of player satisfaction.
i don't get how people play tsw, i just looked on steam and its $2,634.96 for all DLC, plus they release the same thing every year

I am aware of Run 8, I can't justify the price to buy everything needed for the older style graphics. I get the appeal, it's just not for me.
The scenery graphics still look terrible! As bad as procedurally generated scenery, only they aren't! TSW is a scam, Stop buying it!

@yungkidnf Well also IRL there would be a break wheel on the side of each engine and you have to release each one individually. Also where is the yard master you can't make moves in the yard without talking to the yard master unless you were a remote operator

@@Victor_Blane Police department more stable schedule but RR will forever be one of my best careers. It’s so much to learn about RR history IMO.
While locomotives are in trail, the gen field switch should be down. Also the walkway chains should be hooked to the other locomotive so you can walk through unobstructed. Nice vid Jeff!

You should check out run8 v3 train simulator your missing out on it. it’s the most realistic sim out there with the physics and train handling
but it looks so bad. It's like graphics from 8 years ago

I myself have ran trains in real life and while the visuals are great in this game everything else is wrong when it comes to physics and train handling! I play Run 8 and love it

Couple points of note:
BNSF GCOR (General Code of Operating Rules) 5.8.2 requires ringing the bell:
* Before moving, except when making momentary stop and start switching movements
* As a warning signal anytime it is necessary
* When approaching men or equipment on or near the track
* When approaching public crossings until the crossing is occupied
Also, when you're moving light power (just the locomotives) you can use the independent brake
Railway name is now just BNSF, they dropped "Burlington Northern Santa Fe" in 2005

@@jfavignano As someone that lives near a yard, I hear the suckers ALL THE TIME!!! So thank you for not running the bell full time... I do have to wonder.Will they have a sandbox mode where you can lay down your own track, or will it stay all pre-made?
@@jfavignano In the full game can you do a run from say LA to Dallas/Fort Worth and pick the rout you want to take like you can on ATS?

I REALLY wish we could run real trains up the hill at 55 😂. More common is between 14 and 19mph so I'm jealous. The 30 curve at 7th St. becomes a 55mph zone, then up to 70. We have two freight trains capable of reaching 70 up that part of the hill but they're rare to catch. You've got to check a bunch of stuff on the trailing units, but you mostly got it. Fun fact: the gen field switch should be down on all trailing units, and all the units you have in the "run" position will start automatically with just the reverser in fwd or rev from the lead unit. It's called AESS, automated engine start system. I run Cajon pass in real life every day and this is shockingly accurate
I don't see the point in the developers making a new TSW everytime other than to make sales. Each new version just releases new train lines and routes which you could easily implement as additional DLCs on just one TSW game. Interms of the suspension upgrade etc, they could just add that in as a patch or update.
I've had my raildriver for what seems like forever, maybe 20 years? I know I first used it in Microsoft Train Simulator. It's withstood the test of time, but I'd love to see a replacement with higher quality materials, longer lever throws etc.

What a great time for sim gamers, for ATS we got Arkansas and the new Mac. We got a new train sim world instalment and we have msfs 24 in about 2 months and hopefully mote information soon on bus simulator 25. For so long those of us who enjoyed sim games, while we had them we didnt have a lot especially not as fancy as we have currently, but now it seems like every few months a new awesome sim is coming out its awesome.

Come on Dovetail one thing us american train simmers ask for is to americanise the horn on the freight trains because that horn sounds so awful..... like wow lol the one thing we all love it to blow the horn and it sounds nothing remotely like a train horn on a freight train in the USA....... everything else is really damn good

Yes please. Run8 is the Microsoft Flight Sim of the train world. It is hands down the most realistic train sim physics and handling wise. Real railroaders developed it and play it.
Run8 looks so bad though.
Pros over TSW4: Flange squeels and suspension... otherwise it's the same and you have to play a whole run with stuttering to cache memory. What a great sim.

16:00 I 215 on the right at some point maybe a mile or 2 out of their yard is CA 210 and another 2 miles is a bridge that IRL is University Prwy in San Bernardino and right as you get to that bridge is Dollar Tree DC9 BNSF passes by all the time when I pick up there sad to see the lack of detail on that route, they also pass right under the I15 I215 split shared line with UP on there Palmdale to Colton line and the trains are way longer than they make them in the game will be almost 2 miles on those stack trains, mixed is 20 cars longer than the game I rarely see unit grain trains, but Im just a nerdy truck driver whos always passing the BNSF San Bern yard

When you set the automatic you need to actuate because it applies independent air break pressure and you cant use independents above 10 mph.
Been disappointed with this game and dovetail. It’s been the same game since TSW 3 and all the dlc costs nearly as much as the game. And then a year from now TSW 6 will be released I’m expecting it will be much the same.
Maybe the next upgrade, they will add more realistic movement to the rails as the train rides over them. Still, unbelievably cool.

There is a free upgrade to 5 for a limited time on Steam.
Keep the gen field down on trailing units. Also put it on run and they'll fire up when you put the reverser forward
I cant believe how realistic these Graphics/Trains look. I never really enjoy Train Sims but I might have to get this...

This a cool coincidence... your doing Cajon in the game and I did Cajon coming down from Hesperia into la on i15. The smoke and fog was thick from the bridge fire...

Hey Jeff favignano there is actually some items out there that are based off of real train signals and I think you can actually hook one up and have it programmed in the game to simulate a signal that you're approaching for train Sim world
As someone who drivers train crews to their trains and destinations as a living the BNSF engine is accurate
Use the independent to control light engine speeds under 10 mph.

Great video as always, i think my main gripe with dovetail is that it's basically the same game each year with little "new" features that was possible doing the previous year and just change the number on rhe end.
And the sounds just dont do it for me with this sim. I live pretty close to the tracks (Thayer North sub) and hear them everyday and are just off.

The mountains missing in the background is a major blunder and has put me off buying the game. This game is £39.99 in UK so pretty highly priced. Go to Germany or england and run the ICE 3,or the high speed train to London Euston. Also try conductor mode as well.

yes, it's great if you want a hand holding experience and they have the conductor mode I will be trying out as well!

So the person on the left is the conductor. He or she or whoever is in charge of everything behind the Locomotives. The engineer aka you. Your in charge of the locomotives. It sounds easy but Trust me it's not Being a railroader for a scenic railroad is Not as easy as people say it is. Anyway Great Video Jeff please do more of this!.
everything outside is so laggy in the video and jumping as you move along even the still shots are not smooth and its somewhat laggy and jumpy , but its always been a little bit jumpy i guess this game... other than that great video as always mate , i like the train driver controller though thats prettty cool might have to get me one sometime lol

Great gameplay as usual Jeff. TSW 5 Is just a blatant cash grab at this point huge disappointment. Would be really cool if you did do some RUN8.
