- What was your favorite clip?
It really impresses me how powerful AND unique Chris Cornell's voice was, especially back in the 1990s. Feel free to let me know which shows/songs I missed.
Thanks for watching!
This video was originally going to be about twice as long, but unfortunately I couldn't use some of the clips.

The greatest male rock vocalist. He had many vocal phases, but he was definitely at his peak with Euphoria Mourning.
I’ve never even heard of that honestly
@ThatGuyJeremy It was a very personal album for him. He said he was probably at the worst state of his life during that time.
@@timetravelingoldman6839 I'll have to listen to it then, thank you for the recommendation!
Agree, some of Chris’s best material on that album. You will not be disappointed. (Not so) Fun fact, on it’s original release, the album was called Euphoria Morning. It was only later that it was rereleased in 2015 as Euphoria Mourning, which is what he originally intended it to be called. A pretty grim insight into his personal issues. RIP CC ☮️
Bruce dickinson freddie mercury many others have far superior pipes 😂😂😂
Chris Cornell and Layne Staley are my favorites
He could do Robert Plant in his youth and could do Johnny Cash at his late. Chris could sing every tune he would like. That's why he is the best for me. The best of all time ❤
why is Robert Plant your metric? 💀
@@Dualis58 is robert plant not a top vocalist in rock? 🤨
@@chunkemonkethatrillsterr5970 Plant is not just top, he is one of the top 2 vocalists along Cornell
@@Dualis58because Robert plant is the greatest rock vocalist lil bro
@@thelostpeachxoxo3369not really he def top 5 tho
always love how he has to sing far away from the mic because of how loud his vocals are
Is that the reason ? I always wonderded why he did that ?
@@moonylovesmusic you generally set the microphone so the average level of singing is well audible, which means that you have to back up from the microphone for your loudest singing.
@@JakeWildMusic Compression handles the job alright. Chris sang in head voice so much that he really wasn't that loud when he'd sing live. reference: Been front row at his solo shows many times and at NRG Studios with him in NoHo with Steve Lillywhite. Please don't take the ref as me bragging. Just wanted to cite the reason I know. Thanks.
@@OffByOneSecurityvery well said and accurate
@@OffByOneSecurityyes, but that was at his later acoustic shows. When he was younger and sang with SG he sang very loud. Check out Rick Beato's interview with Kim Thayil and Krist Novoselic. Michael Beinhorn has said many times how CC blew out microphones during the Superunknown sessions.
everyone keeps saying axl rose is strong asf but Chris is literally axl on steroids. chris deserves to walk this earth still 😭
These are not anime characters to measure their "power" levels, just appreciate the artists and enjoy the music lol, but chris definetly smokes axl no question asked
@@casuan9613 yeah, wasn't talking about the musical part otherwise a bunch of crappy singers would actually magically have good songs
@@AGENT_MIFTAHUL bro
My soul still feels like it got ripped out of my body since he passed..There's not a human being that has influenced me to sing better or live a better life than this man has. Thank you Chris for being my hero and someone I can look up to. The world still misses you too much
I was lucky enough to see him with Audioslave, third row 😭💜
Can you tell us how powerful his voice is live please ? 😢
Truly, no one sings like you anymore!
The greatest (in my opinion) of all time!
Rest easy CC 🤘🏼🤍
THE G.O.A.T
Cornell was one of the greatest vocalists in rock, and in music generally, he hit several octaves, had technique, volume, depth, range and mastery.
HIS VOICE WAS LIKE A FORCE OF NATURE.
My first concert was Chris Cornell solo in 2006 when I was in high school, and saw Soundgarden 3 times after that. Sadly, the last time I saw him was in Indianapolis 7 days before he left us. I took My mother to that show, a week later he was gone. I left work and went straight to her house and we cried our eyes out. We miss you Chris
Unparalleled, favorite is room a thousand years wide
Such an underrated song
That voice is otherworldly
My God! I still can't believe what we lost! Absolutely crushing!
From the first time I heard him I've always enjoyed listening to him and his friends playing music
Looked so content in his earlier performances like he was playing for pleasure no pressure sweet dreams vocal wizard❤
Seattle definitely his muse❤
Keep in mind, a lot of the early 80s stuff where he was able to maintain crazy output and ranges destroyed his voicebox (luckily it healed). So when I hear that live 80s stuff it kind of saddens me that he was destroying himself. But would heal, and actually become better. Kind of like rebuilding a broken guitar, and tuning it to sound perfect
I’m elated that I got to see him twice, live, in a super small venue. THE greatest rock singer in history. Period.
my hero
the voice of an angel
he was awesome, even now nobody can compare to him!!!
3:14 It’s actually Set It Off.
FKn legend.
I also love his low tones. To me "Like Suicide" it's quite an amazing vocal performance by him!
I want this man back on this Earth! Same as Dime from Pantera, Layne from AiC, Prince, Miles Davis and every artist that was irreplaceable!
The soulmate I never met.
Fly free, fly high into eternity, Chris. 🌈🏵
The grunge movement somehow brought us 2 of the most massively talented rock singers who ever walked this earth (Chris and Layne Staley)
Y’all can name whoever you want. CC had no equal. Who else could sing like he did on BMF, Euphoria Mourning, Scream, Higher Truth and then rap/sing with Audioslave on RATM songs? ZERO would even attempt what CC did, let alone pull it off. LONG LIVE KING CORNELL.
Layne is on another universe
He will always be a vocal god
The goat 🙌🫶🤘 loud love ❤
PJ 20 year anniversary is another great example.
An aptly named video. Thank you
RIP CC!!!
THE Great rock ever who passed away at 52 (1964-2016)
I love and I miss him forever and ever 🤍
No comparison.
Literally no one.
Layne
@@anetteridleyrodriguezNot even close lol
@@ThePsychedelicCinemaLayne had advantages over Chris. More power in his chest voice (when he wasn’t dying from H), more dramatic vibrato, more agile vocal runs. Just because Layne wasn’t singing ultra high all the time doesn’t mean he wasn’t on Chris’ level
@@AlfimAlveshaving more vibrato doesn't make you better.
Geoff Tate, Layne, Bruce Dickinson, Freddie Mercury, Steve Perry, Ian Gillian, Jeff Buckley
Always number 1
They name chriss cornell
thank you jeremy
Vocal lorde
In my weight class: I yield to two men. U already know who. Freddie Mercury and Chris Cornell.
You haven't a clue if you think this his best vocals
Chris eu ti Am🩷!! Maravilhoso, Lindo moreno....
GOAT
Maravilhoso ❤❤❤
Looks good doing it too
Where's Beyond the Wheel?
🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
chris 🌽nell
The thing about Chris I never get is he always autotuned and laywered the hell out of his vocals especially during the Soundgarden days. I now prefer their songs with just a basic vocal take. The more melodic stuff on Superunknown and Louder Than Love.
in no specific order it’s chris cornell & layne staley the best singers of all time.
Absolutely was a God of the front men. If anyone has him singing any Ted Nellie song from Jesus crist superstar?? I always thought that he would have made a great Jesus 👍
Super sonic 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Supersonic
Chris was another one gone too soon.
Machine gun vocals
Man no wonder Adam Jones loves the silverburst Les Paul so much
Mwah....
I sounded so better only singing, kinda like when he played guitar he was insecure with the vocals
It's hard to play and sing Soundgarden songs at the same time. Lots of weird timings and tricky riffs. It deff takes focus away from the voice to do both at a pro level. When you just do one you can focus your whole attention on it.
Everyone hypes this guy up, and his voice just doesn't do it for me LMAO
He was alright…
In my opinion he had a terrible singing voice. He always sounds like he’s struggling, I can’t believe he got chosen to sing a James Bond theme song
I didn't know it was even possible to have a take this bad.
You are entitled to your opinion i guess😂
Cornell compilation will always be good but man, I can give you couple way better performances of every single song you included here
