People don't seem to realize this because this was such a light-hearted movie but...Billy was dealing with envy throughout this whole movie. His biggest problem was envying the "normal" families, the ones who were raised by their birth parents, as well as the bullies for being stronger then him and other kids being more popular. Now that he got the power he wanted, but he still wasn't happy because he wanted the family he thought he deserved. Now that he realizes he was wrong to envy because his foster family is the family he was looking for this whole time. No wonder he noticed Sin of Envy was missing.
I feel like that might be reaching but if that's the case it's a nice finale to his character arc he has been having the whole movie after finding out his mom DIDN'T leave him on accident but did it on purpose as well as rejecting him a hug when it's been years since he lost her. And the fact that his foster family somehow located her when he has been trying for years to find her & with no luck even though Billy was bitter towards them for most of the film.
I love how Shazam barely hesitates to rescue him. After he tried to kill him multiple times. Goes to show just how far he's come since the beginning of the movie.

Meh, he does that a lot. Worked great whenever he had to fight Superman. Of course, the lightning usually hits the enemy and doesn't change him back to Billy.

Loved this scene. Whereas others were drawn to the power of the Seven Deadly Sins, Billy is completely unaffected. It also serves as a demonstration of what the Wizard really looked for: Someone who was pure enough to be completely unfazed by the Sins. Whereas before you could argue that maybe Sivana might have managed to resist at the last second, and that the Wizard didn't really give him a chance, here we get to see how true righteousness doesn't just make someone resilient to the call of darkness, but completely immune.
Not to mention that unlike the previous candidates who were too quick to assume that they were worthy based on the Wizard's words, Billy denied that he could be pure of heart and believed that someone else was worthier than him
1:15 i like how when Envy reveals himself for a split second, Sivana started to get a little scared. He KNOWS that the Seven Deadly Sins are his source of power, and when Envy gets angry and leaves his body he becomes weak again, and it nearly cost him his life.
The scariest part: Billy could have turned out like Sivana if he never learnt that with great powers come great responsibilities: Both are outcasts who were abandoned by their abusive relatives(Billy's mother and Sivana's father and brother) and gave into their power trips, acting recklessly and irresponsibly, but Billy eventually grew out of it, embracing that family is not blood, but the people who are going to always be there for you, whereas Sivana never outgrew his childish mentality, disdaining the concept of family and kept acting recklessly and irresponsibly with his powers, almost costing him his life.
speaking of which, I love how Sivana taunts Billy over and over about being nothing more than just a scared little kid, when Sivana himself has never grown out of his childhood traumas and hatred.
Peter Parquer green lantern I think will become a big dc icon in the movies.and will get the respect and love he deserves. Geoff johns, is helping write the script so I’m quite optimistic

I love how Shazam enjoys being a hero and can be funny at times especially when he fools others when he pretends to be evil. He knew better that the demon eye looked disgusting and knows that evil has a disgusting heart and is disgusting overall. Either way, he's a very enjoyable character.
Its awesome how the story roles out about little Sivana having a hard time with his family and so is Billy but then it shows that in the end that family is the key to making him hole again. The story plot is just amazing. Can't wait for Black Adam movie and then for Shazam 2 or Shazam AND THE 7 REALMS OF MAGIC.
honestly, I have zero issues with this movie being in the same universe as MOS and BvS. Shazam has always been a light-hearted character. it's only natural that his debut on the big screen would be light-hearted as well. also this movie does a lot of callbacks to both BvS and MOS. Shazam is its own thing while paying respects to its predecesors, and I love that about this movie. after the Snyder Cut, I can definitely see this movie fitting perfectly within the restored continuity. I imagine that things may get a bit more mature as things move on. remember that this movie is from the POV of a kid who's just gained powers and lives in a world where metahumans are already known and respected, as opposed to MOS where Clark was an outcast and always felt out of place from the very beginning. in BvS, the world is still learning to accept the presence of powerful beings on earth. it is with Superman's sacrifice that the world finally recognizes that the metahumans are here to help, and thus the public opinion shifts towards a more positive outlook. Shazam is mostly harmless and actually has many weaknesses that could be exploited, whereas Superman only has Kryptonite as a definitive deterrent (killing his loved ones would make him go insane and turn evil, as seen in the Knightmare sequence). so I really have no problem with the tone departure. it's only logical.
This is the strength of DC really. Characters with different backgrounds and experiences. There was no tone departure either. I agree with that it was Superman's sacrifice is what allowed the world to finally trust superheroes more.
The interesting part is that i feel like A-chilles showed up the least as Billy still showed considerable hesitation at points but i imagine much like how flight took a bit it was due to it not over riding billy's mind so much as giving him access to it that he had to take.
Did everyone forget Animated Movies, which in my opinion are better than every live action one. Mainly because they aren't boring as shit or dark and dreary like the live action one's (Other than Aquaman)
Ahmed hero I think this movie is highly overrated. Sure it's a great movie but Aquaman, Wonder Woman, BVS, MOS, DK, Batman Begins, Batman, and Superman are much better movies

it's a neat detail that each one of the 6 kids uses one of shazam's combined powers throughout the fight, each specialising in one that matches their personality and traits Pedro get's the strength of Hercules, Mary the Stamina of Atlas (takes a lot of beatings and grapples physically with the demons a lot) Darla the speed of Mercury, Eugene the Power of Zeus, and Freddie the Courage of Achilles ( the connections mainly being with his self-expressed desire to fly and his crippled leg/Achilles's heel, not to mention him getting into danger before hand when testing out Billy's powers the exception, so far throughout the film, is billy, who, despite best suiting the wisdom of Solomon, makes several very unwise choices and decisions in regards to his new family and his understanding of his idealised mother. it's not until he meets her and is able to let go of his past, making the smart choices to do what is best for her and his new family, that he actually starts using this particular power of Shazam's the experience maturing him and making him wiser for it, and thus more willing to actually 'think' about what he has to do to win against silva deducing the weakness of silva's possession, figuring out which sin is in him, what buttons to press to manipulate that sin into making a fatal mistake, and even using his transformation as an emergency weapon to blast envy off him- this entire final battle on the rooftop is fought using Shazam's powers, but fittingly, it's the one power that's neither flashy nor spectacular, like Billy's been caught up in using throughout the film, but rather the one that's simply the most effective to get the fight done

When I saw that last scene I actually did thought Shazam was giving in to the demons' calling and was going to put them in his head; and then almost immediately afterward pull them out of his head because of him realizing that he already had everything he's ever wanted (in the case of the movie, a family).
A comic accurate Shazam/Billy Batson. This could fit very well with the rest of the League, Shazam and Cyborg were always considered the kids of them all and still they manage to fight as equal to the rest.

I love how this film actually stays true to Shazam’s moral code by having him save Sivana. This film is definitive proof there’s hope for DCEU, Zack Snyder probably would’ve just had Shazam snap Sivana’s neck.
and it still was only half decent with all these stupid clichees, plot holes and tired, old, by the numbers origin story. DC truly is in trouble if that is the best they can do ... or maybe not if the fans already bounce back with every movie which just achieves basic competence. This is beat for beat the New52 story Curse of Shazam, though, except Dr. Sivana is swapped for Black Adam. Although he doesn't use smarts to beat Black Adam, he uses heart. I'm super excited for Black Adam as the villain.
The DCEU actually have never made a bad solo movie. Man of Steel, Wonder Woman, Aquaman e Shazam were all great. (Better than most solo movies from Marvel = ant man, thor 1 & 2, incredible Hulk and so on)

If they're smart. Sivana should keep Sloth inside instead of Envy. It's a lose - lose situation for them, because Envy also gets jealous because Sloth gets to fight while he doesn't, while Sloth probably doesn't want to fight and would rather stay inside Sivana.

remember that this movie is from the POV of a kid who's just gained powers and lives in a world where metahumans are already known and respected, as opposed to MOS where Clark was an outcast and always felt out of place from the very beginning. in BvS, the world is still learning to accept the presence of powerful beings on earth. it is with Superman's sacrifice that the world finally recognizes that the metahumans are here to help, and thus the public opinion shifts towards a more positive outlook. Shazam is mostly harmless and actually has many weaknesses that could be exploited, whereas Superman only has Kryptonite as a definitive deterrent (killing his loved ones would make him go insane and turn evil, as seen in the Knightmare sequence). so I really have no problem with the tone departure. it's only logical.
This is the strength of DC really. Characters with different backgrounds and experiences. There was no tone departure either. I agree with that it was Superman's sacrifice is what allowed the world to finally trust superheroes more.

The interesting part is that i feel like A-chilles showed up the least as Billy still showed considerable hesitation at points but i imagine much like how flight took a bit it was due to it not over riding billy's mind so much as giving him access to it that he had to take.

it's a neat detail that each one of the 6 kids uses one of shazam's combined powers throughout the fight, each specialising in one that matches their personality and traits
Pedro get's the strength of Hercules, Mary the Stamina of Atlas (takes a lot of beatings and grapples physically with the demons a lot) Darla the speed of Mercury, Eugene the Power of Zeus, and Freddie the Courage of Achilles ( the connections mainly being with his self-expressed desire to fly and his crippled leg/Achilles's heel, not to mention him getting into danger before hand when testing out Billy's powers
the exception, so far throughout the film, is billy, who, despite best suiting the wisdom of Solomon, makes several very unwise choices and decisions in regards to his new family and his understanding of his idealised mother.
it's not until he meets her and is able to let go of his past, making the smart choices to do what is best for her and his new family, that he actually starts using this particular power of Shazam's the experience maturing him and making him wiser for it, and thus more willing to actually 'think' about what he has to do to win against silva
deducing the weakness of silva's possession, figuring out which sin is in him, what buttons to press to manipulate that sin into making a fatal mistake, and even using his transformation as an emergency weapon to blast envy off him- this entire final battle on the rooftop is fought using Shazam's powers, but fittingly, it's the one power that's neither flashy nor spectacular, like Billy's been caught up in using throughout the film, but rather the one that's simply the most effective to get the fight done
This is what Wisdom of Solomon is. Not just intelligence but also to do right thing at right moment.

When I saw that last scene I actually did thought Shazam was giving in to the demons' calling and was going to put them in his head; and then almost immediately afterward pull them out of his head because of him realizing that he already had everything he's ever wanted (in the case of the movie, a family).
The way he killed envy was really clever.

If they're smart. Sivana should keep Sloth inside instead of Envy. It's a lose - lose situation for them, because Envy also gets jealous because Sloth gets to fight while he doesn't, while Sloth probably doesn't want to fight and would rather stay inside Sivana.
