When i first heard 2pac keep your head up i knew the song he sampled because my sister was a huge Zapp fan and used to always go see them live, had all their albums,by the way this is the radio edit version the album version is 7 minutes long.
That original song was always too short. Be Alright was such a feel-good cut. Teen years, basement parties, drinking wine coolers, rollerskating at the rink. Roger & Zapp are definitely part of the soundtrack of my life. Thank you.
JJ, Roger Troutman was one of a kind. He had so many timeless jams its hard to figure where this one fits. His influence on the next generation and hip hop was huge. Anyone who enjoys his instrumentation needs to check out "Doo Wa Ditty".
I love your immediate reaction to this. I also love how you’re discovering all of these original songs that are popular samples. I used to play this song over and over and over.
I saw this video when I searched be alright amv (I wanted to see some anime scenes over this song 😭) but nah I clicked purely because I love music and I love sharing moments like these. Idek if you still active or not bro but I’m grew up on this song. the look on your face when you realized the sample which was immediately, thats pure.
I think on this greatest hits version they shortened it because alot songs back then we're pretty long.. funk albums were especially like that to keep you dancing. .
Roger and Zapp, these are my boys, love me some Roger, check out, more bounce, i heard it through the Grapevine, So ruff so tuff, do it roger, Superman, i can make you dance, dance floor, heart breaker, chocolate city, and livin in the city, when I think of old school this is the music I think of
I appreciate this channel so much. Soul/R&B is my #1 genre, so its good to see a young brother, such as yourself, appreciating some great ass music. Whether is be for the channel or in your own time PUHLEEEEZ check out Angela Bofil - I Try. Vocal excellence and passion
Yes this song is timeless RIP Roger troutman.

Also used in H-Town's song Knockin da Boots .

There is a longer version that is much more impactful.
That’s right 1:35 Tupac did a lot of sampling from zapp and roger
This the jam!! All of his jams are the bomb!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great request. This was a classic no doubt.

The Genius of the LEGENDARY Iconic Roger Troutman
Big Daddy Kane used this for Prince of Darkness
Roger Troutman was a legend in his own right. R.I.P Roger💞💞💞
What a classic track. Love it

The best song to use this sample is still Poor Righteous Teachers - Shakiyla (Album Version)
🎶 the extended version is So relaxing 👍
Together we can make this journey!!
Together we can make this journey!!
2pac - Keep Ya Head Up and South Central Cartel - U Gotta Deal Wit Dis (Gangsta Luv) are the only 2 songs that I can think of when I hear this
The 1980s had great music.
Loved your Oooh reaction LOL ♥ 1:16 My all-time fav by Zapp & Roger Troutman ♥ RIP
This is one of the few, if not only song with no voice effects (maybe "do it roger" also). When people claim they couldn't sing, play them this.
H-Town- Knockin' Da Boots (used the same sample also)
Yeah, this great jam was sampled a few times. The longer version is on the album but either way you can not go wrong on this jam.
your reaction to this song is PERFECT. but that's the short version.
I think on this greatest hits version they shortened it because alot songs back then we're pretty long.. funk albums were especially like that to keep you dancing. .
The original version on their debut album is the long version and much better .

The album version is the long version. They cut it short for the greatest hits cd. Smh. The instrumental part of the song is incredible!
They know they didn't have to shorten this classic like they did.. The extended version is the ORIGINAL version
Hey
You should go check out The Gap Band's "Oops Upside Your Head".
You should listen to "I Wanna Be Your Man" by Roger. I believe it was the last song he recorded. It was a Hit.

'Do I Roger' is a similar style
Just to let you know, Roger was the originator of AUTOTUNE. "More Bounce to the Ounce".
Wasnt the originator...
Alot of folks do the voice box, but no one...I mean no one did it like ROGER..RIH
