- Here I'm showing is this Bissell Lift-Off 3554B that I bought brand new from a vacuum store out of state for $286. Originally I founded this on Amazon www.amazon.com... but I contacted the place and they offered me free shipping since I purchased it from them rather than having to pay shipping through Amazon. It's still in it's original box, has the instruction and warranty work, all of the attachments and an extra belt that it came with. Other than that, it still runs and it actually sounds smooth despite being in the box for over 15 years I would say. I'm really glad that I found this, I've been after one of these for a long time and I'm actually shock that this place still had one of these. They had two different models available, 3554 which is purple and 3554B which is black. I bought the black one because I like the color better. And they also supply parts for these such as bags, belts, filters, brushrolls, motors, etc. Overall, this is a really impressive vacuum. Very powerful suction and airflow, very strong agitation, excellent filtration, and surprisingly really quiet. This is overall one of the best Bissell vacuums that I've ever used and it's a shame that they don't make these anymore. Pictures of unboxing and opening this vacuum can be viewed from this website: www.vacuumland....
Hope you enjoyed!

I brought one of these from the same seller, he was very nice. I also ordered it directly from him. Man this machine is like no other machine I’ve used. The automatic height adjustment actually works really good. It can adjust to clean my thin rugs and it can clean bare floors without it scattering dirt behind the machine. The agitation is impressive, I wasn’t expecting it to be that aggressive. The suction on it is like my rug doctor which is very nice. This was probably one of the only vacuums that was safe for someone with allergy’s back then in 1999. Overall I’m very satisfied with this machine.
These are really great vacuums the only negative opinion that I can give it is that they're not built the best but they are very very nice and they are well thought and have a nice design
I think it's a good machine but I don't think it's all that great. I'm disappointed that they didn't added a switch for barefloors like the older Plus models had. I'm also disappointed that these don't have a height adjuster. And it feels like the canister wouldn't want to stay on tight. Somethings that were later addressed to Bissell's successor, the Lift-Off bagless. One thing I don't get is why didn't Bissell put a geared belt on? I had to replace the rubber belt when I first got this machine. Again it's still a good machine but for what I've paid for, there were definitely better options back in the day.
Good point
The motor sounded pretty rough on the wind down.
It sat in the box for many years.
@@panasonicvac4036 Also is there still someone selling these as NOS?
Contact All-Fix Vacuums out in Reno, NV and see if they still have any in stock. That's where I bought mine from.
@@panasonicvac4036 How do I do that?
Just search the place up online and their phone number should come up.
They don't sale this on eBay anymore.
If I remembered correctly u said u weren’t going to buy another Bissell on your Bissell preheat vid. It’s a good thing your giving Bissell another chance.
Or u had that vacuum I stand corrected.
This one is different. Bissell no longer makes this model and I was particularly talking about the ones that are currently being made today. Even though I think this is a good vacuum, that still doesn't change my thoughts or opinions on Bissell today.
I had one of these when they first came out and found that the brush roll barely made contact with the carpet, thus the carpet didn't look groomed. The vacuum store said that others had complained about that too. But it did have great airflow.
Hmm, it does well on my carpet. Maybe it's just me.
@@panasonicvac4036 dose this not have a brush shut off mine dose buts its a plus
I wish these did but unfortunately no.
Panasonic Vac why not the plus dose that’s strange lol
I have a plus too and it does have a brush or shut off
I wonder if there was a way to turn off the brush to go to hard floors?
Unfortunately not with this model.
These old Bissell Plus/Bagged Lift Offs are the only good bissells that I like and are worth a damn!
I just finished cleaning up an older version of this from 1995. Main difference is no exhaust filter and it has the slide switch for brush on and off. I was surprised it has two head light bulbs. Plus to the other commentor mine does have an Ametek motor at least for the brushroll. I imagine the suction is too.
I too would imagine that it does, alot of manufactures back then would have Ametek build motors for them. I wished mine did had a switch for the brushroll, that would've been the only change I would've done to make these machines a bit better.
It's rare to see one of these older Bissell Plus vacuums in the box still over time! Edit: I love that wind down on it too!
Thanks for making the video! It seems like a very nice machine! I'd like to get my hands on one and run the airflow tests.
You can still get one of these from the same place. If you email me, I can give you the info of that place.
Amazing!!! So frickin beautiful!!!
what year is this
1997/2003
2003 cause the seller bought them NOS after they were discontinued.
Back when Bissell,Hoover,Eureka and Dirt Devil were made in the U.S.A and built to last
I wouldn't say built to last but they did lasted longer than the newer versions today.
Dirt Devil was never built to last, even when they were made in the US. Royal created the brand to be cheap for discount stores like Kmart and Walmart.
I prefer the older plus that's just me you cannot wash those spongy black filters because they fall apart so easily
Filters are actually harder to find for these.
What other older bissell vacuums can you get NIB
I was told that you could possibly get a new in box old style Prolite from the same place where I got this Liftoff from but I haven't attempted to reach out to them about it. But I have seen some new in box old style little green machines on ebay recently.
they sure don't make these like they use to!! great find :)
A m a z i n g !
Can you tell me what kind of belt this use?
Bissell Style 4.
What a find!!
Do you know if he’s used Ametek motors like the old Panasonic‘s did? It seems like a lot of companies used Ametek motors back when they used to be madereally well
I'm pretty sure these do have them.
Why does it sound like a Bissell healthy home?
I just ordered one of these off amazon. I guess it’s new old stock. Will I regret it?
It's from the same place where I got mine off from. However I messaged the seller and I ordered it directly from them rather than having to pay shipping through Amazon. I still think that it is a good vacuum. If you take good care of it, I think it will serve you well!
Panasonic Vac thanks for the reply man. I always wanted one of these as a kid. Was kinda a impulse buy but I’m excited to get it. It’s design always was cool to me especially back in the 90s. Do you know how old these particular models are?
The seller told me they bought these right when Bissell completely discontinued them which would've been sometime around in the early 2000's. I don't remember what year they told me when they did, probably 2003 I would say.
But yeah I think they were cool looking machines as well. I just wished they could've added a bare floor switch to use on bare floors like the earlier models did. And one thing though I will say that you would need to be caution about is the prong on the powernozzle. You don't want to switch this thing on in upright position and release the pedal to turn the powernozzle on like I did, that can cause the prong to go bad if you do it constantly.
My parents had This when I was born
The upholstery tool looks like a Panasonic tool
What a great find where did you get it from
As I said in my description, I bought it off from Amazon.
Derell Scott the seller doesn’t sell them on Amazon anymore, he instead sells them on Ebay. You can find the item by searching Bissell lift off 3554B. It says he only has 1, but he actually has 2 left.
This sounds like my old Hoover T Series before I threw it out last year. I never liked that brand.
I am disappointed. :(
Hoover in my opinion is not a bad brand, you must've had some bad experiences because the T-Series are overall decent machines through my point of view.
Panasonic Vac I really liked it until my mom never took care of it. I remember she washed the HEPA filter once, even though its supposed to be TAPPED INSIDE A TRASH CAN. We couldnt find replacements for the washable filter so we "Putin" (pun intended) a washable filter for the Air.
We just threw it away last year. My mom is not getting another Hoover. The only one left is my Linx cordless stick vac.
I might do a video on it, but if I do a demo of it, it will just be in my room. So please subscribe. :)
P.S. What happened to the Little Green? Specifically model 1720-1?
Panasonic Vac I filmed a low quality overview of my old T Series on my Nintendo 3DS. Same goes for my old Nano Lite. I should also mention that THE T SERIES WAS STUCK WITH THE SAME BELT FOR THE LAST 6 YEARS.
Omg omg I have one of these
