@@mr.tryhardguitarguy2842 That was a hardcore scream/shout. I seriously doubt he doesn't know how to scream. It didn't match the style scream that's in the album mix I'll give you that, but you're seriously incorrect.
I swear The Contortionist have an amazing ear for the vocalists they choose. At first I thought no one could top Jonathan's effort the past two albums but HOLY SHIT Michael has got such amazing control over his voice it is insane!! He has shown the past two years how amazing a fit he is for this band, and cemented it with this album.
Bryan Yazzie Mike Lessard actually said that he changed his vocal style when he joined the band to fit with Jon Carpenter's singing method. Mike used to sing from the chest in Last Chance to Reason but he took a more ambient-styled singing to fit The Contortionist's agenda.
Im a die hard death metal/ grindcore guy........ And when language came out, i Was introduced to real true LOVE in music form. Id pay 3x the price of a tool ticket to see them perform the exact shows i watched them play years ago. I was fortunate enough to smoke a joint with mike abd the bassist outside of the dna lounge. Love you guys regardless if i dont enjoy your newer music. RESPECT
Truely a magical performance. The Contortionist are a TREAT to see live. And no worries. While this was a considerably small show, you will never see them at a massive performance like Download or something. They prefer small shows. It's much more intimate. you bond with your fans much more and much better. theres no barriers between you and them. Which is just as much a testament to us fans as well as them. The Contortionist does what i like to call "Thinking Man's Music". they are very deep in their style. They include Sacred Geometry in their memorabillia (i bought a shirt at the Brighton Music Hall performance 2 days after this concert). They are very spiritual. So (absolutely nothing against the rest of the metal world) it takes a fairly intelligent or open minded person to appreciate their music. and that smartness was demonstrated here as nobody tried flooding over the band. We all showed restraint. After all, wed ruin it for everyone if we acted like animals. Like most mainstream concerts...... We know better. We're a proud bunch. We are the Language We are the Intrinsic We are the infinite and the finite We are Contortionists all.
Me living in Mexico, means I probably will never be able to see them, witch makes me sad, but this video is as close as I will com to see them live. Such an amazing performance. Props to Washed Up Media for this.
Yo man....for real, thank you. To see comments like this really means a lot, and is exactly the reason I do this. I'm glad Washed Up can provide you with an awesome video experience. Thank you for watching, cheers dude.
All the feels... totally get it, I'm from Mexico too... unbelievably, I found out they've already played here (some years ago) I think it was the first tour they did with Mike they certainly haven't recorded Language (or were in the process of it), so sad I wasn't familiar with them back then.
+Joshua Galarza Those are some strong words. I'm not even sure who my favorite band is but to say they are the best band of all time is just childish like getting in a fight over who's top 10 bands are better, it's all opinion.
Dang, Michael knows how to get freakin' high with those screams! I saw them last month and he did the same thing. His clean range and his harsh range is phenomenal.
Noah McCoy I believe you mean Michael, Joey is the drummer :) Not to be "that guy" that goes around correcting people on the internet hahaha. You're lucky you've seen them live; I hope to see them this Fall on the West Coast. And I agree his vocals are incredible. I hate to say it but I enjoy his work quite a bit more than their previous vocalist but that's just me
Rat Bastard Yeah, my bad! I wasn't sure of his name so I checked their Facebook. Guess I have dyslexia haha But yeah, they put on an amazing show. I've been jamming Languages ever since.
+Noah McCoy I would looove to see Mike live. The contortionist came through my area last year, but I missed out. My god, I can't believe how well he's able to control his screams. It's like he has 3 seperate sets of vocal chords for his clean, growling and screaming vocals.
0:44 wrong note....so they are in fact human beings....finally proof at last xD...these guys are so good.....also you can tell how many musicians are in their crowds at every one of their gigs by how in time the clap at the beginning of this song is.
Thank you for filming this.. saw these guys a few months ago & it was magical. Vocalist's presence is insane on stage. Now I get to relive it whenever i want. :]
I was brought here because of Ian and OMG my afternoon was so boring until I watched you guys. I wasn’t ready. 3mins I was like “wow what a loyal crowd” 7mins in I was amazeddd
Saw the contortionist live for the first time back in 2014, seen them live two other times since then. Only he first time I saw them did he go for the high screams like at 6:27 and 7:58. It's insane and I realized I needed to go track down another live performance to get that again. Thanks for the upload!
Saw these guys when they toured with Periphery. Had no clue who they were but loved the performance. Walked out that night a huge fan of them! Seeing them again in a few weeks.
Best live video of these guys to date. This was incredible. Totally re-living the experience when I saw these guys back in October. Thank you very much for posting this.

It actually makes me so sad that because I'm from south America I will probably never have the privilege of seeing them live. It makes my throat tighten a little.
hey i was wondering if anyone knew if the contortionist still played older stuff live like from exoplanet or apparition im seeing them in February and i love there new stuff but i also really like the older stuff i think it would sound great if they mixed it all together live

Can't get over how good the vocalist is live.
You ever listen to Last Chance to Reason? Michazel Lessard is easily my fave vocalist right now. Check out level 2 and 3
***** Awesome albums!!!
He's a fucking amazing frontman. His stage presence is unbelievable.
Those dudes play this shit live bro... Fucking live!
His screams made my cry laughing 6:30
the crowd surfing dude that screamed into the mic at 2:15 actually sounded decent behind the singing lol
hahaha I know man, I was very pleased was I watched it back for the first time. Thanks for watching Mr. GoatBallz420!!
g0atBallz420 Well in the actual song they do have screaming vocals behind clean so it kind of replicated that lol
Glenn Gabberty I mean if he actually knew how to properly scream yeah
@EvanFingerstyle probably, hey my fans are fucking awesome and let me enjoy this with them. That's what I would do

His work in Language is just phenomenal. It's so fluid.
He has to be the most underrated drummer out there
The Baca bros in general are super tight. But yeah Joey is crazy talented.
The drumming on clairvoyant is cracked too, I have big respect for this whole band.
Best crowd ever
I love this crowd. They're going ham as fuck even for a slow and quiet song like this

+MintahDrums I agree 100% just goes to show you don't HAVE to have crazy live energy to have stage presence. all you need is authenticity
Some bands are underrated. Some criminally so. These guys are underrated in the next category- tragically criminally so.
