I have the x3000i and it's amazing. The noise loudness and pitch changes based on refresh rate, so on 60fps it sounds kinda loud, but on just 50 it's almost quiet
@@TheHookUp 100% and thanks for a super in depth breakdown. Just wanted to chime in, as in the AVS forums, some folks are complaining about noise, and some are perfectly fine, and I noticed that this a LOT to do with how fast the lenses have to move given the refresh rate. So setting the my Apple TV to 50hz significantly lowered the noise, and turning on the setting to match framerate with the content, most content is 24hz and the projector is super super quiet.

I have never owned a projector, and don't even have a TV, so looking forward to get my hands on this for both casual entertainment and art projects. Thanks for the great videos!
@The Hook Up The Xgimi Horizon Pro 4k. Although it's not as bright as the other ones reviewed in this video, I think it will be good enough in my home. I like the easy setup and ability to move around, relatively quiet fans and good speakers, small size and smart functionality. Pretty well rounded for its price!
@@TheHookUp The Dangbeng looks very interesting! But from my findings it still is difficult to buy and ship to Sweden where I live (without getting very expensive extra costs).
I actually just installed a Horizon Pro in my bedroom, a great little projector. I'm using the Dangbei outside on my patio, the brightness is really impressive.
Just ordered Dangbei. Was between that and horizon pro. they were the same price on sale but your review helped me to chose Dangbei. Definitely had the best picture when you were showing them side by side. And have a fire stick so the smart features aren’t a problem. Hope I am happy with my choice
Got a dangbei myself and fire stick. Any luck being able to control volume of the unit using the fire stick remote? All other functions of the remote work except that. Also notice upon setup firestick setup that dangbei wasn’t recognized and had to select the “not listed” option.
Great test! Seems to me very strange that since 10 years, projectors losts pretty much all their optical capabilities, switching to electronic correction. My 10 years old projector is 1080P, has lens shift and proper zoom... and most of all, no subwoofer to destroy the image during intensive bass....
Agreed. I'm running an old Epson TW2900. It's 1080p, has both horizontal and vertical lens shift and I can get new lamps for it from Aliexpress for around 30 euros, shipped.
yup, same, My old Panasonic pt-ae1000u has a large electronic controlled optical zoom, as well as a good range of vertical as well as horizontal lens shift. Had to use projector centrals calculator while looking at new projectors to be sure they would work, and the x3000i JUST fits my 120" screen at 13' 1", any further back and it would be too big for the screen.
To be fair despite this video saying these are "high end" projectors (it's a great video despite that), these are far from high end projectors. These are very mid range (even lower end depending on how you look at the market) and slanted towards being more portable so they have fewer features than more traditional projectors that are still being made and are great quality. Projectors have in fact been evolving along that normal path alongside both these more portable themed ones and the massively expanding high end (meaning at least double most of the price of these) Ultra Short Throw projectors which are getting quite good as well.
My Optoma that I got in 2014 still works but it's not smart and is lamp based and I sure as heck don't want to move it at all. Way different then a portable and more sturdy lifestyle projector like these ones.
I recently picked up the Horizon Pro for only $1,275 so at that price I think it's totally worth it. I don't know about the others but this one does 3D which was one of my factor of upgrading from my Nebula Cosmos Max which is only a 4K projector. It's Horizon Pro is brighter and if you thought the sound of that was great on the video the Cosmos Max is still king to me a it has 4x10W speakers which sounds super nice. The sound didn't matter to me as I have it hooked up via optical to my UE HYPERBOOM if I really want to turn it up. I think overall Xgimi makes better projectors then Nebula but Nebula has some standout features as well like their phone app which could create a mouse cursor if you need it. My next projector will definitely be 120Hz and up and maybe a UST but my setup doesn't call for that right now so I could wait. I will be looking into getting a portable 1080p 3D projector this year. It has to have USB-C charging though so we'll see.
@@andrewfreeman88 nice! Yeah that's a great price for this projector. I think I recently saw a sale on the Pro for around $1K or so. I still have mine but I'm already eyeballing the Ultra but could wait for the prices to come down a little more.
This is a really great review. It gives so much information. It seems like all of the projectors are great at something and none of them is perfect. At the price point, I'd stick to a Tv.
@@TheHookUp An 85" TV is guaranteed to never ever produce RBE, unlike any of those single-DLP projectors. No matter how fast the color filter wheel rotates or the lasers in sequence flash, there will always be RBE. In this sense, it is better to stick with a TV.
Great video, I upgraded from my Benq HT3550 2000 ansi lumens to the Dangbei. Wow this thing is bright! It was pretty easy to set up, not using any of the smart functions what so ever, as I have a surround system. Picture pops in Standard mode, other modes not sure. More detailed than my Benq and more quiet. I will miss the picture options of the benq, as I like to tinker with picture settings. Memc is the soap opera effect, and it annoys me, so I have it off. Sometime goo to take when traveling or use in van or RV and maybe outside of van or RV? Also, do the four here support pairing with a Bluetooth speaker system or would lag between video and sound be too great?
Would be so awesome if they supported bluetooth speakers. It would be so awesome he would be remiss if he didn't mention it. Lag only occurs in genuinely old versions of bluetooth and old bluetooth equipment. I wonder why they only have two hdmi ports on them. That seems bizarre to me.
I had to literally freeze the video at the 40 sec mark to respond to the very first thing you said if I'm going to dump money on Tec I need to know exactly what the difference is, why the price Gap and gimmick or actually does something. A perfect example is the Samsung 55 in 7000 series or the 55 in 8000 series the TVs look identical but like you fine sir I had to know, with $100 price difference if someone purchased the 7000 series or lower they basically ripped themselves off badly should have went for the far superior 8000 which is where all of the super features begin. To add, I liked the Nebula Laser allot just having that handle hang from the ceiling would be so odd. They should make that handle removeable, and add a few more mounting locations on the bottom, and I would have went with the Nebula.
I'd really like to know, how the input lag is, on the Dangbei... I'm very impressed, that they can produce a better picture quality, without the knowledge & money of benq!!
@@TheHookUp Add another ~45ms for the internet connection... Could be a slightly disadvantage in competitive shooters, but should really be alright for almost anything else... I hope this is not a one hit wonder and they start getting even better!! Already a must have for that price!
I’m not sure how much it will go down on prime day, but the Optoma p2 has been crazy on sale lately. I picked one up for $1750, which is an absolute steal.
@@TheHookUp That's the one I've been recommended from a few people. I was thinking I might do that if it gets even cheaper on prime day. 3000 ansi lumens I think might be the minimum I need. I'm using an outdoor dual view screen for rear projection on my patio. I bought the screen already still researching the projectors.
Dangbei operate perhaps the largest smart TV app store in China. Them making projectors is like Xiaomi making smartphones after Android ROMs. -They probably hired some intern to try to move this projector to the international market, hence the name, price, and broken OS. It's called X3 in China and the MSRP is about USD 900.- Edit: I was mistaken, update in my reply.
Correction - they have an X3 Pro that is a closer visual match. That one has an MSRP of about USD 1400. They do have an English storefront on their website, with warranty terms listed. Not sure how well return and replacement work in practice.
@@grantyale start a channel man I will follow you. What you suggest on Chinese projector screens ? I read jinkee is the best also manufacture for USA venues and cinemas. All ya need is a decent Ansi and a good projector screen. The black crystal diamond fabric from jinkee taobao will show outdoor even overcast. Or is it fake?
Oddly enough at the fan portion, listening to this video with airpod pros, I thought the video paused until the benq came up. I didn’t hear a thing from the fans until that point
Is safe for the eyes the laser projetors when using wall intead of screen for project image and movies ... should be very far from head the projector?? if you project directly to roof in a bedroom??
Awesome review! Does the Horizon pro 4k really have 4 screw threads at the bottom for a traditional ceiling mount? You are the only person that has ever mentioned that and I would like to verify before making that purchase. Thank you!
Hmm .. at 06:09 summary you state the BenQ had measured White Brightness of 1853 ANSI Lumens, but at 7:01 in comparison to factory claims there is Brightness Measured as 2269 ANSI (same number as claimed at 5:48) ?? So there is error somewhere. Maybe because that was measured on different modes .. brightest and standard .. as vaguely stated.
You can pretty much always assume that a projector company will optimize modes for maximum white brightness when listing ANSI lumens. My point is that even though that mode had the brightest whites, I don't think anyone would watch content in that mode because the colors were so bad.
I’m with you Bill for the most part. Most of the “built in” OS’s are usually kind of crap imo anyways. Example: my lg c1’s os, just not a big fan of it. I’d have to try out the nebula and the BenQ to see if I would be a fan of those or not since I hate the fire stick.
I have Vankyo 470 Leisure and works great and has every port possible,2xHDMI,A/V,Phones,SD,USB and VGA. Picture is good I just need better setup and I paid around $150 delivered.I don't like to waste my money as I am not rich to buy expensive stuff which sometimes is just overhyped with brand name...
I'm definitely happy that you are happy with your projector purchase, but it's not really comparable to these. The Vankyo 470 has about 350 ANSI lumens and 1080p resolution while these are all 1500-2000 ANSI lumens 4K resolution. Not to mention features like auto keystone, auto focus, and AndroidTV.
what happen when the lamp reach it lifecycle and die off? will there be spare part to swap out the faulty one or we need to throw all the projector away?
25,000 hours / 5 hours per day = 5000 days. Even if you watched every day for 5 hours the light source would still be good for almost 14 years, which is far beyond the typical life cycle of a display.
Great Video! I have one Horizon Pro at home, which offers me great experience. The Horizon Pro remote has a great feel, the projector has faster focusing, better colors, better brightness, good contrast, faster auto focusing and great AI based obstacle avoidance.

Your Channel is spectacular thanks for the knowledgeable content.
Cheers!
If you purchase a Dangbei Mars Pro, we will give you a TV stick as a rebate!
@dangbei How and where do we apply for that rebate ? :)
@@sudeepjesani Actually, the meaning of rebate is that we will present a TV stick as a gift for the customers who buy our Mars Pro.
@@DangbeiTech how can I get a streaming stick. I just ordered a mars pro.
@@DangbeiTech I receive my Dangbei Mars Pro unit today to make a video review in portuguese. Can we make an interview about your company? Please visit my channel. My email is inside of the description. Tks|
@@DangbeiTech what brand streaming stick? What operating system? As the man said kind of hesitant to purchase from a company that I don't know. What's the warranty on it? Where do you go to get it fixed if buying from Canada? Telephone number for your company in the states. Really interested in buying your product but need some info. Thanks
Would be nice to watch similar review of some cheap 3D capable projectors...
All these projectors support 3d
@@TheHookUp he said cheap
@@TheHookUp Are you sure the Nebula supports 3D?
@@emilio1316 Yes, it supports Side-By-Side and Over-Under 3D with DLP link glasses.
What about the CEMC of the Horizon? Is it a game changer when watching sport?
What a legendary video
To add, I liked the Nebula Laser allot just having that handle hang from the ceiling would be so odd. They should make that handle removeable, and add a few more mounting locations on the bottom, and I would have went with the Nebula.
"Allot" is not a word "a lot" is what you mean 😉
Awesome review as always. Curious you didn't include Xiaomi Mi 4K Laser Projector?
The UST? The Mi stuff isn’t really meant for markets outside of China.
Any warranty information? Epson so far seems 3 years what about others. Measure Ansi you the best reviewer subbed!!!
I'd really like to know, how the input lag is, on the Dangbei...
I'm very impressed, that they can produce a better picture quality, without the knowledge & money of benq!!
46ms of input lag for the Dangbei, totally acceptable for 99% of gaming applications.
@@TheHookUp Add another ~45ms for the internet connection...
Could be a slightly disadvantage in competitive shooters, but should really be alright for almost anything else...
I hope this is not a one hit wonder and they start getting even better!!
Already a must have for that price!
Ordered my Dangbei mars 2 pro, very tempted to get the 83 inch Lg b4 😅🤔
I hope you do a comparison like this on Ultra Short Throws. I'm definitely looking to buy one and your very knowledgeable about this stuff.
That's on my list of videos to make, but probably not for a few months.
@@TheHookUp aw no problem. I will likely be picking one up on prime day. I will still watch it though. Love your videos man!
Please put THESE in tabular format so that quick comparison is possible.
@@grantyale Have the link, really like dangbei
Why are there so few reviews on the Horizon non Pro version? The only difference is that it doesn’t have 4k, but its a fraction of the cost
Confirmed. X3000i is the best one for me, especially since I liked the piture the best and it has the lowest lag for games.
Please review for 3 laser UST, traditional single laser is on the way out, I’ve been looking for 3 laser HDMI 2.1 eArc.
I have a UST video planned that will have a few triple lasers, not for a few months though.
Hi, thanks for the extensive review. I just got myself a GV50 and find it good.
Would it be an upgrade actually to go for an XGIMI Horizon Pro?
Awesome review! Does the Horizon pro 4k really have 4 screw threads at the bottom for a traditional ceiling mount? You are the only person that has ever mentioned that and I would like to verify before making that purchase. Thank you!
Yep, just unscrew the leveling feet that come with it and there are standard metric threads to use with a mount.
@@TheHookUp Thanks man!
Thank you
Hmm .. at 06:09 summary you state the BenQ had measured White Brightness of 1853 ANSI Lumens, but at 7:01 in comparison to factory claims there is Brightness Measured as 2269 ANSI (same number as claimed at 5:48) ?? So there is error somewhere. Maybe because that was measured on different modes .. brightest and standard .. as vaguely stated.
You can pretty much always assume that a projector company will optimize modes for maximum white brightness when listing ANSI lumens. My point is that even though that mode had the brightest whites, I don't think anyone would watch content in that mode because the colors were so bad.
Dude fire 🔥
Built in "smart" capabilities don't mean anything to me, as long as I can plug in a $35 Roku 4K streaming stick.
I mostly agree, but in the case of something like the Nebula it really feels like an "all in one" package.
I think the “internal HDMI port” was a super smart move on the BenQ. You could plug in whatever stick you want and upgrade in future.
Any udated opinions on Dangbei as a company since this?
Great Video!
I have one Horizon Pro at home, which offers me great experience. The Horizon Pro remote has a great feel, the projector has faster focusing, better colors, better brightness, good contrast, faster auto focusing and great AI based obstacle avoidance.
Yep, as I said, they are all great. The Horizon Pro is a bit dimmer than the rest, but still very good.
@@TheHookUp Horizon is not only bit dimmer but it also has a slight shade of blue color in its picture, it is not as clear as nebula or dangbei and x3000i
the wemax nova 4K ust has been on sale for 1.2K which btw is an absolute steal
I think wemax is about to release a new UST, so the nova might be on “clearance”
@@TheHookUp great point haha
The Xgimi only costs 1099 euros, would you say it is the best in this category for the price? And can you also watch soccer with him?
Hey is the nebula comsos max worht buying not the one in this video? Many thanks
It would have to be really inexpensive to be worth it. Maybe like $499?
@TheHookUp I'm from uk can you recommend anything for £1000 or less? Thank you. I've been watching lots of projector reviews and I must say you put so much detail into your reviews thanks
I don't know of any good 4k laser projectors for less than $1000. The XGIMI Horizon 1080p is usually around $799 and is a good value at that price.
I have an Epson 3500 home cinema ceiling mounted projector and I would like to replace it with a laser, what would you suggest? My current project is mounted 14 ft away from my wall mounted screen fir a 130 “ Image
