The Digital Watch Wonderland - Following the White Rabbit
Вставка
- Опубліковано 26 гру 2022
- This is the Illuminating watches digital watch iceberg, where we will start with the most mainstream and well known brands like casio and timex, and gradually move down through through the different layers of digital watch land. We will meander through vintage seiko , orient and ricoh , come across outdated calculator watches, waches with mobile phone , crazy sensor watches and many more. All of this is themed to the classic Alice in Wonderland - so do you know why a raven is like a writing desk?

HELLO MY FRIEND! AS MARTY MCFLY WOULD SAY IN THE SECOND PART OF * BACK TO THE FUTURE * TO HIS GOOD FRIEND * DOC BRAUN *:
- WHY DO YOU SAY THAT ? ,, IF THE BEST THINGS ARE MADE IN JAPAN...! .
I RECOGNIZE THAT ANY JAPANESE BRAND OF DIGITAL CLOCK AND HAND CLOCK IS VERY GOOD... EVEN IF THERE ARE OTHER GOOD CLOCKS, I ALSO STAY WITH THE JAPANESE , AND THEIR HIGH-TECH WATCHES .
A BIG GREETINGS , AND A STRONG HUG FROM SPAIN FRIEND OF DIGITAL WATCHES ! .
🖐️📟😉🙋🏻♂️
Thanks so much and hi again from the UK!!!
@@IlluminatingWatches YOU'RE WELCOMED, IT'S ALWAYS A PLEASURE TO SAY GREETINGS AND COMMENT ON YOUR CHANNEL AND ITS DIGITAL WATCHES AND OTHERS .
UNTIL THE NEXT VIDEO , FRIEND OF WATCHES ! .

You are the best. No hyperbole, you are THE #1 source on the web, hands down, the best.
Well that gave me a skip in my step - Thankyou! I’ll be saving this comment!! Appreciate you watching
Get this man 1M subs!
Ha ha I’ll take 4K. It’s not a big universe of people that are into this stuff!
@@IlluminatingWatches congratulations you are there!
@@markcoffman494 Thankyou!
I feel so bad for just now seeing this but i really appreciate the shout out! 😁 I'm happy to be Mr. Armitron. I'm currently wearing my AAFES Exchange variant of the "Champion" called the rugged Digi Chrono on a Zulu strap.
Ha ha couldn’t say Armitron without mentioning you
I got an Ana-Digi a few days ago and it led me to your channel. Holy shit what a strange and wonderful world I've stumbled into. I'm a long way from my Seiko SKX...
Welcome down the rabbit hole! I aim to illuminate this slightly weird world for folks like yourself - leave your SKX to the side for a while and stick around!
@Illuminating Watches IT started with the Casio AQ230 now I'm deep in the Ana-Digi-Temp. Next I got an A168. HELP.
@@winstonlanda7731 You are definitely asking the wrong person for help ha ha ha!
Yup! Spangler Brugh just subscribed!
Fun video, you miss my rabbit hole, mechanical digital watch with jump hour, lot of fun watch there
One day I’ll have to do a video on mechanical digitals
Thank you for two things. One for making videos on watches regular people can afford and two for making videos on digital watches and not just casio but timex and more. Love digital watches and have many casios but as I'm not 47 and can't see good like I use to, have switched over to timex digitals for their larger number display . I remember the 80's and just had to have that ironman
It’s my absolute pleasure :) I was a proud Ironman owner as a kid (I was an 84 baby so 90s more my era).
Just found this channel and I’m in love. Keep it up !
Aw Thankyou! Lots more where this came from!
Great channel; it's surprising you don't have more following.
Thanks so much! It’s quite a niche area so not something I think will be my ticket to millions :)
@@IlluminatingWatches it will, its surprisingly detailed, i wonder how much time you spend on research
@@oldheliotrope a lot!! But I chip away at it over quite a long time . I was able to do this one without too much difficulty as i have covered most of the topics in other videos where I did a lot of research. I do it for fun anyway as that’s what I enjoy doing.
Thanks again for making these videos for us. Always so informative and interesting stuff
It’s an absolute pleasure. Appreciate you watching!
Great video as always Gordon! There really is such amazing variety in digital watches. Seeing it again here reminds me how much I’d really like a Yes WorldWatch 🌞 And that Casio Cosmo Phase of yours really is something special 😍
Hope you’ve had a good Christmas and thank you again for all the amazing videos 👏👏👏👏
Thanks so much Gareth! This was a nice easy one to make versus topics where I’m having to learn from scratch. Have a great new year and end of the holidays!
Thoroughly enjoyed this. informative & Enjoyable. Thank u G.😎🙏🙏🙏Happy New Year.
I’m so glad you stuck around after Russell sent you! Settle in and enjoy! Happy new year to you too!
Ah the Cosmo Phase, slipped it in the end ! Fascinating vid bud.
Ha ha can’t have an illuminating watches video without the Cosmo!
Fantastic as ever. O dear I want more digital watches now. Thanks Gordon. I have picked up a Digital Marlin thanks to your content haha
Ha ha I can only apologise. Thankyou!
Thank you. Many informaations. Thanks
Great video thanks, As to the international layer, yes Orient is now re-launching its digital catalog. This time they opted not to partner or use someone else's label, but rather develop their own. So X Games watches are now defunct and X-Watch is arising. Besides X-Watch you also have another local brand with a wide catalog, Mormaii. Seems like the digital watch world is endless once you start diving into it. Thanks for the awesome video!
Awesome knowledge. I still have the intention of doing a Brazil video at some point but need to put the effort into the research as there are no easy sources!
I really liked this iceberg because it shows watches with interesting and very cool concepts too
Thankyou! I’m really glad you enjoyed. That’s why I like the idea too
Lol thanks to your video, I now remember that I have a Levi's digital watch! Beat up and its red LCD is fading, but still looks cool nonetheless (at least in my eyes lol).
Awesome! Love it when people find old gems in drawers
First: It's silly that humans still think digital watches are a relatively good idea (Douglas Adams).
Second: A Raven is like a Writing-Desk has no defined answer (Lewis Carol) but I have an answer that might be definitive. In many cultures, long before Edgar Allen Poe ruined their reputation, Ravens were considered to be omens of good luck...specifically, when one came to visit you it meant that you would experience change in life that would lead to an increase in prosperity. IF a writer sits at a Writing-Desk, they might also achieve the same result. Thus a raven is like a writing desk because both represent the potential for prosperous change.
Best comment ever. I do still need to forgive Douglas Adams for that slander in hitch hikers guide though!
@@IlluminatingWatches hey no one is prefect. 🥰
What a cool video! Man I need more digitals! I saw a "anadigi" Citizen the other day and thought I would come to pick it up later as I was busy but when I returned it was gone... I think I will have to try a Timex then as I have never owned one and they aren't really super popular in South Africa. Or maybe a Nixon... They seem cool too! Thanks for sharing Gordon!!!
My pleasure. Yes you need to be sharp to get what you want on eBay. Simply sharing so that other people get as addicted as me!
@@IlluminatingWatches I think we are now all infected hahaha! Have a great day bud!
Elektronika gaaaaaaang!
Rocking the Elektronika-1 today :)
Represent! Very cool
Can you make a epesode about seiko alba hyper-tech. Think this vintage deserves a tale to be told. Regards the.legendary.G
Oh nice idea! Love your IG by the way. Thanks for having a watch!
Man! I just started checking out hyper tech watches. So cool! Had totally passed me by. I’ll be investigating further (will obviously reference you if I do something )
Your videos made me fish for two digi watches I shoved into a box back in the 1990's I didn't find them but the most frustrating part is not even remembering the model names or numbers, one was a "chrome" bezel sharp the other some red/black Ironman. Very helpful 😂
I think I know the Timex Ironman you mean. Do you mean Sharp the Japanese electronics company? (Or that it was sharp edged :D )They did a few but were not very prolific under their own brand of digital watches. They supplied some cool components to others though!

Wonderful video!
I was surprised to not see any Athan/Azan watches with Qibla compass included such as the CPW-310, probably the most obscure watch I own
Oh nice!! I don’t think I’ve seen that one. I love finding new watches and brands
It's like catching Pokemons: there's no end to it! 😅
There really isn’t!
don't forget microsoft's smart watch. They bought an entire FM frequency and broadcast your personal data over that band, for a while.
Ah yes - I covered it briefly in another video (either history of LCD or the digital tech evolution video)
You forgot the retro futuristic type of nixie watches
Good shout! Quite of few of them in the watches linked to the Tokyo flash group
WHAT IS THE G-SHOCK ON THE LEFT AT 2:45??
Which brand occupies most of these categories??
Casio, Citizen and Seiko seem to always be very present
Thanks!! Im a Casio guy and wanted to make sure the brand I'm invested in had options and opportunities to collect some unique pieces. 👌
Because outstanding bills can be found on both ;)
Ha ha proof you watched till the end. I like that answer!
@@IlluminatingWatches great vid as always;)

Joint with the x-33 for me!
@@IlluminatingWatches I agree. That's hard to beat. What's your 🐐though? I love your videos btw.
I probably do have to say my first gen x-33. It’s just a combination in one watch of all the things that interest me - it has a story with the space links , the digital element , some prestige with the brand and you don’t see one every day. That’s very kind of you Thankyou!
CASIO ES VERY SUPERIOR AND TIMEX AND OTHERS CASIO IS THE KING
