As watch nerds, we all love spotting a watch on TV and especially in the movies. Let's not kid ourselves, they are placed there by companies who pay in the hope that you'll buy one of their products! That's great, but not if the watches are all super rare, cost a fortune, or both. Today, my Top 10 Budget friendly watches from Hollywood movies. From $20 to $750, some great fun to be had for not a lot of cash. Cheers, Jody
I think Jody loves his 'Back To The Future' t-shirt, more than any Casio. 🙂
And the steve erwin statue!
I now assume all aussies have a shrine to steve somewhere in their house. He was a treasure to the world.
Instablaster...
He's really into it. I think he likes the calculator watch. I'm into the retro Casios too.F91, F105 and A158.
It's always a good morning when Jody posts a new video!
Yessss facts
Well good night here in Australia 😂
Fuck yeah!!!
I'm completely in love with the Hamilton Murph... unfortunately, having a sticker price of 700+, it doesn't belong in my personal "budget watches" list 😬
It's a stunner, isn't it? Wears very big though apparently, so console yourself with that. Cheers mate!
@@JustOneMoreWatch that's a shame (and odd because its suppose to be on a womens wrist which tend to be smaller) it really is a looker.
It's a big one at 42 mm but they made it to scale with the prop watch used in the film. Fortunately for me, I have gorilla wrists so it worked out well. On the other hand the new Khaki Pilot Pioneer mechanical, which I love, is much to small for me at 36mm. You win some, you lose some.
Oh yeah - I'm a sucker for a pair of gold tone Cathedral hands, meaning I love the 2020 cream dial Alpinist too.
Hopefully ʙᴏᴛʜ pieces quiet down a little though.
$750ᴜsᴅ for the Alpinist just doesn't fly, and the same $ for the Murphy? Whilst it doesn't feel as much like being bent over whilst Seiko have their way with, just because, you know, they can. It does feel like Hamilton ᴀʀᴇ saying 'well you said you wanted it...' I think in a yea or so's time good old JomaShop might be selling them for around $500.
I hope.
I’m happy it’s too big lol, otherwise bye bye $750
Loved the video and the list.
Where's the Casio love for John Candy in Planes, Trains and Automobiles?
Darryl Fraser - I prefer Steve Martin’s Piaget.
I ordered the "Hollywood" bullhead and band two minutes after i had watch this vid, and it arrived yesterday.
Stunning watch! Seems well built too. So glad you mentioned it Jody.
I absolutely LOVE my Ripley/ Bishop black! Great watch and great conversation starter. It’s futuristic but has racing heritage roots!
I’ve been waiting for someone to make a video like this my whole life let’s gooooo
I have to say that "Aliens" had some of the most iconic and memorable lines of any film. "I say we take off and nuke the site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure." "GAME OVER MAN! GAME OVER!"
Evergreen641 “maybe we got ‘em demoralized?”
I'm such a fan of your channel Jody, and this video you just nailed it. Thank you for the great content!
Seiko Guigiaro pronounced as dʒuˈdʒaːro "Juh-Jah-Ro" and named after one of the best car designers in history Giorgetto Giugiaro who created DeLorean, as well as different Lamborghini, Ferrari, Maserati, Alfa-Romeo, Bugatti, Austin Martin, Lancia, Italdesign, BMW and many-many more iconic cars. He also was working with Nikon and Seiko :)
Thanks Pavel, all Italians say thank you
He also designed the epitome of boring unromantic hatchbacks, the VW Golf. Lord, how I hate that car.
Great video. Really enjoyed learning about those watches and movies.
The only "cheap movie watches" watch video on the net, as far as I can see... Brilliant! Original! I love this channel.
Love the Lorus in Falling Down
I’ve spent many an hour trying to figure out what watch one star or another is wearing on the big screen...TV! It’s a fun pass time! Great video as always Jody!!!
Oh man Jody... it's awesome! Thanks for another great video!
Like a trip to the movies, Jody, a totally entertaining video report!
Aliens was so different but probably my favorite in the series. However, I can remember watching Alien when it first came out and I had nightmares for what seemed like years...definitely an amazing transformational movie.
Great video Jodie. Combining movies and watches gets me all tingly inside. You've actually inspired me to start my own channel for watch reviews, likely not nearly as nice as what you've done but I'm looking forward to share the knowledge from some of the budget bargains I've found as well. I'll share the link to the first video once I get it up!
Casio is my favourite brand right now. I've picked up quite a few watches in the $50 and below. Love them them all.
Jody, really loved the video today. I would love to see more in this style!
Stay safe. Also alien and T2.
Great video Jody, really enjoyed it, I do find myself looking at the watches in the movies, I am a old watch geek, and big fan of the channel, thank you
Damn vostok amphibia has design , modding , quirkiness, lore, movies, and it's been into orbit.
Jody, your movie reviews are hilarious!!! 😂😂 thank you for making me laugh this hard first thing in the morning
Great video, good information and very entertaining!! Love the channel
I've been tempted to pick up a SCED035 a couple of times now, brilliant watch
I'm still a sucker for the Willard, and thanks to places like San Martin (and apparently Detroit Mint, thanks for putting me on to them!) they're basically attainable too, as long as you don't mind it not saying "Seiko" on the dial.
what a great idea for a video! Thanks Jody, enjoyed that!
A lot of fun! I enjoy your videos so much!
Great list. One of my first purchases was a Hamilton Ventura after seeing it in Men In Black. Still great value at under $1k AUD and aside from the movie connection it's a truly historic watch as well 👍
That's the Elvis watch. He wore one all the time.
The casio dbc 32 also features in the film office space where many of the characters wear it. Coincidentally Dwight wears on throughout every season of the office TV show.
I love it when great films feature attainable watches. I have a few on this list, want a few more featured (The Pitt, and the Redford).
And All is Lost is a fantastic film!
Hello! Keep Rocking those Watches Jodie 🤘🏻
Hey Jody, great video idea! It's also cool to hear your opinion on the movies as well, not just the watches.
Nice vid. Loved the last watch. May have to get one.
Never see any calculator watches on here, and my good friend is a great enthusiast of the genre. So thanks for mentioning one here today!
Thanks for reminding the FUN of watch collecting 😄😄😄
Superb video, really enjoyed it.. Your videos are consistently excellent. Keep it going. Best wishes from London, England
Thank you very much!
Great show! This is the most fun show in a while.
This is such a fun video - Thank you Jody 😊👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
Nice one very enjoyable thank you.
Great call on the Vostok Jody. That was the 2nd automatic watch I bought. Love that Zissou dial!
Now here is a great idea for a video. Well done!!
Honestly Jody this is one of your best. Robert Redford' s hair; 101 uses for a dead (ships) cat.
Hahhah! I remember those books! I'm just jealous of his wig, erm, I mean hair.
Loved it great content Jody had that calculator watch 👍
In BTTF part 1 Marty wore CA-50 calculator. However, due to the 4 years between the movies, in part 2 and 3 he wore CA-53. From the memory - CA-53 was worn by main character in Player One. I presume it has been used in many other films, as I feel like this is a go to watch for a nerdy teenager character.
I ordered the Hamilton Murph through my AD after watching Interstellar. Truly love that movie and watch.
Nice one Jody, I like the topic, it's fun and interesting and different!
Fun as always!
Great episode. Cheers Jody
Thanks for watching James!
Cant wait for the review on the bull head great video
Great new content sir!
Great compilation, thx
Great video, Jody!
Thanks JP! Hope you are well mate.
Another amazing video! You sir are a workaholic!!
Thanks mate!
Great vid, love the Arnie Seiko!! Some of my favourite movies. Predator on the big screen was insane 🥊
Enjoyable video, well done!!!
The Vostock Amfibias are great watches - and fantastic value. I replaced the rubbish bracelet on mine with a nice (and cheap) silicon - love it!
I love my Giugiaro and wear it more than I ever thought I would. Really fun watch.
The best (of many) greats for last. I love the Detroit Mint Bullhead. Thanks for another good one Jody.
Really enjoyed this one, thanks.
My film preferences.
T1 > T2
Aliens > Alien
Mad Max 2 > Max Max
First Blood > Rambo
I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit; it’s the only way to be sure.
@@Strength-in-Union Frozen? :D
@@Strength-in-Union :D :P
great video idea
Jody, as always, thank you for a well-done and researched video. I watch your vids every morning on my commuter train into Boston, and they are a great way to start my day. Just so you know, you are personally responsible for my ever-increasing Casio watch collection. In fact, my F-91W is my motorcycling watch, as it virtually disappears under my jacket & gloves. Many thanks again, and thank you so much ! ( BTW, because of this video, I ordered a DW5600 !! )
😊😃
Thanks for watching the channel mate!
Great show Jody!
Thanks Jason!
Cheers Mate.Great topic choice.
Ok so here’s how it goes for me Alien, Terminator 2, and The Road Warrior. Although their counterparts are all classics as well.
This was a fun one. I managed seven out of the ten. Happened to be wearing the Murph today. It really is a beautiful piece in my opinion. My Giugiaro is a reissue but still a great conversation piece.
the JLC is about Doctor Strange's surgeon heritage i think.
Lol I basically just commented the same thing. A last momento to remind him of his previous life.
I don't think it's supposed to go with the superhero costume, and that's the point, it's a reminder to him of who he is and what he believes in.
Two of my favorite things. Movies & watches! 😊
Great list! I have the Arnie, Square, SKX009, Amfibia(s). A movie connection is always fun!
"Watch matches Muscles" - LOL - Love it!!
I have 2 of the watches mentioned on my bedside table as I’m watching this! A couple of honorable mentions... American sniper, Brady Cooper wearing a DW-6600. Kajaki (kilo two bravo in the states) most characters (British soldiers) wearing F91w’s.
Great episode, sport
My favorite 80's watch is the original Casio databank dbc-150. I loved the way this watch could tell you if you had an appointment coming up this week or next. The best place to watch "All is Lost" is from a cruise ship out on the ocean where my wife and I saw it for the first time.
yup! we are definitely nerds... ahahah excellent list Jody!
Apocalypse Now and the Willard is my choice..
I own 3 of the citizen bullheads and can HIGHLY recommend them...
Not only do they have a day and date complication, with a column wheel and vertical clutch chrono, it also happens to be a flyback chrono!!! Its crazy to think those features are on a watch under 1k!!!
My wife bought me the Seiko Giugiaro SBJG009 watch for our anniversary, and it's one of my favorites right now. It's a digital Chrono but it has a cool rotating bezel feature and beautiful domed Crystal with a blue negative display that is absolutely mesmerizing in direct sunlight, like the Oris Clipperton. However, like the Oris, they are pretty rare, because they are an LE of 500 exclusive to the Japanese store Ships. She got it on eBay, though, and for a good price compared to what the analog chronos cost.
Don't be too quick to disparage the CA-53w's features! The alarm is super-easy to set - just enter the time using the numeric keypad - so I use mine as an alert to get to meetings on time - it's harder to ignore than a phone notification.
Enjoyable video, a few more like this would go down a treat....looking forward to seeing the bull head....⌚🏴⌚🏴
Great video, Jody, once again demonstrating why you are the tops in You Tube watch production!
Thanks for watching the channel Ben!
Just One More Watch
Wouldn’t miss it, Mr. “Oregon over California” 😁
A bit late to the commenting party (I'm catching up on your older videos having found the channel a few months ago):
Great video and topic. How about TV show watches?
Having just binged Narcos we go from Rolex to Casio - all lovely watches.
we need part 2!
Hiya, yes "Predator" was quite a film. I put it in the "Jaws" and "Dual" category! Riveting in house boyzone stuff! Cheers.
Thought about buying a Ripley but just like you I was not sure how much Use it would get. So I am still saving for a watch I learned about watching your channel and that is the Steinhart OVM. I just love the look of that watch and I figured I would just keep my eye on the prize rather than buying the seiko Ripley.
Great video
Great, fun video! I really have noticed watches in pop culture a LOT more since getting in this hobby! Also though, what are these websites that have some sort of listing of watches in various TV shows and movies?
Such a fun look. Nice that Casio makes calculator watch with option of light. The Marty McFly one doesn't have a back light.
Anxiously awaiting your review of the Detroit Mint Bullhead.
He has a seriously cool t shirt collection for sure
This has been quite a trip! I love watch spotting when watching my sitcoms, it is interesting to see how the same character's watch changes between episodes and between seasons! Eg. Jay on modern family seems to switch between Panerai and a Daytona. Rich and rich I guess. Detective Rosa Diaz's watches on Brooklyn 99 just get bigger and bigger! To emphasise her toughness and cool I guess. A lot of standard Timex weekenders in The Office US.
It's tough to watch a show without trying to spot the watch now :)
Great vid. Really enjoyed the movie connections.
I have a challenge for you and your extensive knowledge. I would love it if you could identify some of the classy pieces i saw on the wrists of the actors in Mad Men tv series. Its way beyond my limited expertise . 🙂
Own the Murph, Skx and Giugiaro, planning on getting the arnie soon. Good list
Hey! I've been watching allot of your videos recently and I've wondered, what do you think of placing timestamps on your videos? It would be super helpful.
Either way I'm such a fan of your vids!
Top job lots fun cheers
Great video Jody!! This one is on my to do list!!! I love how all of us say how much of a movie Icon the SKX is after being in this Robert Redford movie but I haven’t watched it!!! No one I know has watched it, no ones heard of the darn movie!!!!!!!!?????? Have you?!?! Marty McFly’s Data Bank for me!!!!!!
Don't expect too much, and you won't be disappointed mate!
Just One More Watch I struggle watching films he’s in with people!!!! God knows what it’s like with just him!?!?
I have the silver casio dbc-32. Its a cool retro watch. Proud to say i am a geek
Cheers for the link to Detroit Mint - the Caretta Turtle looks stunning!
I bought the Detroit Mint Caretta Red Hook and love it.
I seen a UA-cam video of the restoration of that _Citizen_ watch that Brad Pitt wore… shows the whole restoration process! Very interesting and *a LOT of WORK!*
I bought the rolex explorer II white dial version of that wall clock you have its a beauty.
“Smoked”
