What a beautiful compilation. And all around it your stories. 🥰 Thank you, dear Dacob. Concerning me - can ´t wait till the heat of summer is over. Can ´ t wait for autumn, it is my season.
Many years ago, when my son was born end of August, there was not only a shift of light. There was a change in how the leaves of the trees sounded in the wind; the cool of the nights, it was the sound in the air … planes, cars, faraway noises sounded different. From one moment to another. Unforgettable. It has just a little sadness inside, but a lot of beauty. 🤍💛🧡
When I think of the season turning over to Autumn, the smells of the season are so yummy. I think of carmelized sugar and vanilla and cinnamon spice. Tabu is a perfect pick, and I love certain types of incense. I like the sticks better than the cones. So much coziness in all of these scents. Ugh....now I want a Mexican Café Olla and a empanada!
Wore Le Lion today based on your recommendation. I had it put away for the Fall. You were so right! It’s amazing in Summer. The dry down is like no other. 12 hours later and it’s still so good!
Love all your descriptors when explaining a fragrance. Brings me back to my days at Sensory Spectrum 😊. I was on a food panel and we had to find Heliotrope/dark spice/earthy…etc, in many items we sampled. One of my favorite jobs ❤ So when you say something is papery or here when talking about the linen wrappings and dusty…I totally get it 🥰 You’re the best! Thank you!!
What an interesting take on fragrances for August. I ordered a sample bottle of Dior New Look after watching this. I LOVE and crave some frankincense in my life from time to time. New Look had been on my radar since your first review of it, but this pushed me to try it. I am guessing it will only be worn for me in a private setting based on how much some people seem to hate this. However, aldehyde and frankincense sounds divine to me. I have smelled cool frankincense before and obviously warm is the most usual. Your description of the cool and warmth in this scent excited my olfactory imagination. I cannot wait to try it! I have been enjoying Bois Des Iles. While it has no olibanum listed in it, it seems like there is a hint of something I like in that note.
Thank you so much for your kind words rfbuffy 🥰🥰💖 oh I am so curious to hear your thoughts on New Look! Yes, many seem to not like it at all but I personally adore it. Its so perfect to me 💖💖💖 and Bois Des Iles is majestic in every sense of the word really. Also perfect for August in my opinion. 🥰💖🥰
@@essence-tiallydacob9611 I am sorry to bother you again, I write too much. But I am wondering if Coromandel extrait or Coromandel EDP is better for someone who loves frankincense but likes the patchouli a little less? I know you likely love both, but I have only sampled Coromandel EDP. I like it a lot, but I wonder if the extrait may be better suited to my taste. Based on what I say about my preference in this type of scent, which do you think would be best? I can’t sample it as I have no Chanel boutique immediately accessible and am looking for a birthday present for me! I trust your opinion, you have never steered me wrong. I don’t love all the same fragrances as you do, but your descriptions guide me well towards those I will love because I truly get and see similar things in fragrances. Some I have sampled just because you make them sound interesting, but I usually know in advance that it will not be a full bottle preference, but I still want a chance to appreciate some of them. You have been a gift and your videos are the best!
Dior’s New Look: yes! I just received my sample bottle. I am in love! It is exactly I imagined when you mentioned the coolness of the frankincense. This is mine for keeps. I NEED this in my life. It is clean, cool, there is a bit of sweetness. This frankincense has been infused with ghosts of citruses, flowers, and other spices to make it what it is. You don’t actually detect these other notes outright but more the effect they had in shaping this particular incense in the direction it goes. It is a transparent whiteish gray purplish hue in my mind. It elevates. It clears cobwebs in the mind. It takes the weight of the compiled details and pains we collect and carry in our bodies and minds in every day life off of us. I can see for me this being used like bookends on a day. I may want it in the morning before I shower to meditate and then at night to quiet the noise of the day and elevate and restore me to peace. It helps me to hold onto only the essential in my being. This is for me as long as it is made! Thank you Dacob. You have introduced me to a meaningful and lasting love in New Look! Aaaaahhhh!
Hi Dacob, interesting selection, I would have never dared to wear such heavy perfumes in a hot summer, but, why not?🤔 Le Lion is definitely a good pick, I still haven't bought it, but I'm getting more and more tempted 😅 I think I could wear it without makeup, but a white t-shirt and lots of accessories! Right now, I'm being very wise with Gabrielle L'eau and Paris Venise...more conventional. 😊 Enjoy your holiday, love you ☀️☀️☀️💛💛💛🧡🧡🧡
Fabulous list and narrative, Dacob, as always. I love listening to these stories! And am always so impressed with how you do this, making it look effortless....and it is such hard work. Hope this channel just continues to skyrocket....oh, Yikes, I don't have any of these! Except of course my sample of Comete.....
When there is Aldehydes and Frankincense involved, I’m almost irresistibly intrigued. ^^ In late August, I rely on Relique d’Amour (Oriza L.Legrand), to convey an atmosphere of stillness, calmer and colder times in the forest nearby, a brook, some autumn leaves crackling sound, damp moss, tombstones and a certain mothball after effect. It is surely cliché in many ways, still the pull of Autumn for me is undeniable. For me, mi-August is already Fall, season of remembering the dead. « Be still, heart. »
I know what you mean about the oud trends, and I really like M7 as well. It was the first western "oud" and I still think it has something unique to express.
Thank you celiaso 🥰 I am not planning on getting any of the new esprit de parfum collection privee perfumes for now. They cost way too much for what they are in my opinion. Plus the price difference between the US and the EU is, in my opinion, criminal! The current offering do not call my name. If they release an esprit of others then I might consider. 💖
I was born in a desert and yes, people there were drinking hot tea also wearing warm robes. I am drawn to frankincense and warm sandalwoods currently. August is my Zodiac month too - happy birthday to all fellow Leos here btw 🎉
Dacob, i bought a big sample of this based on one of your reviews and I can't figure this one out. It starts with a loud lion’s roar and then turns into a soft gentle lamb and eventually fades away to nothing. I cannot smell it at all. I wonder why it does this on my skin. I would love it to stay on me a bit longer.
Dear Jacob, I have a question for you, as a I think you know the answer... I have about 350 bottles, and I gave one away last week, about 5 years old and still in plastic foil, so not opened...My friend turned it back, saying that it was ruined, because he read at Google that perfumes going bad in between 2 and 5 years maximum.. Is this not a marketing thing to make us buy the same bottles sooner ? Or is it true.... Thank you so much for your always detailed reviews
Did you gift the perfume to your friend? If so, the friend was very rude in my opinion. One should not return gifts. Ever. If he bought it from you then he could have at least opened and smelled it first to test the smell. Perfumes age differently depending on their ingredients, compositions, weather and storage conditions. Depending on the perfume, it can still smell wonderful many years after its manufacture. Depends how sensible one’s nose is too. Certain perfumes might lose their crisp top notes freshness but their base notes might still be quite intact. It depends on the perfume in my opinion. I wear what smells good to me on me. Perfumes usually last longer when sealed and in box with no oxygen and light or too much heat coming to them. I have some perfumes from the sixties that still to my standards smell wonderful and then I have have perfumes which went stale after just three years upon opening them. Many factors play into the lifespan and usability of a perfume in my opinion. I always test a perfume on my skin to see if I like it.

Such unique descriptions. Poetic, intelligent, deep :)

Hi Dacob ❤ love your videos. Would you be getting anything from Christian Dior’s Esprit de Parfum line? I’m considering getting one but unsure which 🤔

And yes, was just thinking recently that heliotrope is a very August note. And a Leo's scent. My choice is the same called Etro beauty 😊
Its delicious 🥰
I'm with you about oud. It is a hard one to wear and some are so intense it can be nauseating. A little goes a long way.
