Hello beautiful friends! In this video I decided to try using dating apps for a week! Dating as a christian can be interesting and challenging. I have had people ask if using dating apps is okay, well I wanted to put them to the test myself. I am sharing my honest experience of what happened as well as some of the stories from my dates or phone calls. Hope you enjoy!

Using dating apps as a Christian is so frustrating.. I also have my preferences on the app I use set to Christians only and went on dates with a few guys from it. It only resulted in me getting ghosted when the topic of sex eventually came up and I expressed thats not something I was comfortable doing, especially since I barely knew this person. Aside from that, dating apps do seemed a bit 'forced' and nothing compares to meeting someone in a natural setting and letting a relationship progress from there. Best of luck to you and thanks for making this video it was really insightful!

Online dating means less lust, less male overbearing pride, less men having to bother women who either don't want a man or who already have one.
The men on Christian dating apps are for the most part gentlemen looking for a good Christian woman. Good Christian spouses don't grow on trees. If you find one don't reject him, snatch him up quick

I wanted to bring some different perspective as a married guy. I usually watch for the other faith content that you put out, but I find it beneficial to get involved with relationship conversations, as our culture has a very messed up way of handling them.
With that said, you definitely have a much more mature/healthy perspective then most people, which sets you up for a more healthy future. The fact that you’re patient and can bear not dating like most people is great. The fact that you’re growing with God and now you’re relationship with Him is stronger than with anyone else, you’re at the point you should be at. Not saying you’re at the end goal but you’re in a good place and heading in a good direction, which will give you a clearer mind and discernment for thinking wisely when you do actually find someone! So that’s my encouragement.
My advise to ANYONE is to say: no one needs to date to find someone to love. First off God loved us first. We won’t understand love without a good relationship with Him. Second we all have friends and family who we have relationships with who love us and can satisfy our need for a companion (someone there, not in a romantic way). In fact the best way to have a healthy relationship with anyone is to care about them before yourself and to work together with the person cause you care. If you can’t do that, you don’t have love and if you don’t get that from a person you want a romantic relationship with, you might be in for physical and material, mental and emotional pleasure but it will be torture in the mid to long term. The best advice for relationships/finding a future spouse is to be completely (as much as you could possibly be) that the person loves God, loves others, loves you, is humble and you have at least faith and one other thing in common. Cause you once you join with the person you’re stuck with them for life. Better or worse. You’re job becomes loving them, even if you end up with a Hosea sort of situation. I can relate a little with him since for a short time our marriage was starting to go sour. But I kept strong faith, challenged, questioned, straightened out my wife’s thinking and encouraged her and things are back on a great track! Hope the best for your future(s) in regards to relationships!

I met my husband on Tinder & boy did I not see it coming lol but I’m really glad I gave tinder a chance. On the other hand I had a terrible experience on Christian mingle, so that being said I really think in all dating, app or not to stay true to yourself and listen to your gut & to keep praying to God he is guiding you to your future spouse.

Dating apps can be so crazy and uncomfortable. However, I have heard of several "wins" from it. My daughter found her husband with one of those apps. So, I know it can work! You really have to know what you're looking for and never settle! Pray! Pray! Pray! and allow God to send the right person and then pray that you will discern it when it happens.

LOVE this video! I have been using dating apps for a year now on and off and I absolutely agree with all the points you made. I stopped because I really want to focus on my growth as a Christian and getting where I want to be fitness and health wise. I want to be more at peace with my self and have a higher level of confidence before I even think about dating someone. I also stopped because as you said I really felt like I was forcing myself out of a season that God put me in. It got to a point where I craved a relationship more than I craved God. And because of that I compromised on some of my deal breakers, such as waiting until marriage. I really appreciate you making this video. It could definitely be something for me to look back on when i’m struggling with my singlenss and considering taking things into my own hands rather than trusting God to bring me someone. I really wish I had a friend like you. Your advice and wisdom is so helpful. And on a side note, I love that you eat plant-based!

Thanks for sharing this, Kian! I spoke with a friend just last Sunday and she gushed about how she met someone on Hinge, that they’re in the talking stage now ... and that I should also try the app out. I was thinking about it, but I too feel like I would be rushing myself out of this season God has me in now. Your video assured me that there’s no need to jump into things that may be working out for someone else, and that there’s nothing wrong with trusting God’s timing!! I don’t need to be conforming to a worldly custom “just because.” Thanks for being so real and sharing what God has taught you!

@@Kian_Wolfgang I'm not trying to be rude and props for being strong in your beliefs, but it is not accurate that a majority on these apps are "waiting for marriage." If you stated that those are the kind of guys you're looking for in your profile, this "majority" is probably lying to you.

    • @Kian_Wolfgang
      @Kian_Wolfgang  4 роки тому +48

@@joannk.2557 To clarify, I didn't say majority of the men on apps were waiting for marriage, I said majority of the ones i came across were. Which were the 4-5 men i had conversations with. And I am very aware to guard my heart and have discernment with everyone.
I don't think it is healthy to constantly focus on the negatives and point out reasons to be discouraged or skeptical. I have faith that there are plenty of trustworthy amazing men out there and I'm tired of the world trying to steal that hope.

okay!!! But how amazing is God. She got the golden retriever, she got a godly man who opens the door for her, get the chair for her at the table (even when they just met), who is silly with her, who help her share Jesus with 50 people in the cruise, who expose her to a new way of sharing Jesus through his boldness evangelizing. I made a list of everything I want in my future husband and I always hear that is not what I want. But guess what, I am certain that God knows me and he will not only give me what I need but also what my heart desires according to his will. This just gave my faith a boost. haha

Idk why most of us men have these low standards. If the lady doesn’t want sex and you do, then just go find a lady who wants it. No need to spend 2 hours on the phone trying to convince a person of anything, specially sex. It’s just a waste of time.

@@delgadoabdel Uh, I don’t know about you, but majority of people here are Christian and don’t believe in just sleeping around. We want something intentional. I don’t see how it would be considered a high standard to like a woman who is easy to sleep with.

Hey Kian, thanks for posting this. Relevant to me bc I was on Christian Mingle for almost a year before I got in touch with a guy I could even see myself with. Tbh it seemed that the men there were either attractive and inundated with messages or just ugly and strange. I finally got a chance to chat with a cute guy who also happened to be smart and funny. We wanted to hold off on sex but yes he wanted to sext and I gave into that. At first he made it seem like he was interested in marriage but after a month of daily texting and sexting he revealed hes not into having anything serious. We took a break for two weeks, came back to it for another two and I felt like even though he was still responding to my texts he wasn't putting in any effort to move the relationship forward. It felt like it was mainly based around sexting or that he was just dragging things out and making me last priority to his busy life. It was really disappointing because it is so rare I feel any type of chemistry and when it began it seemed like we were really on the same page of wanting something substantial :(

I relate so much! I had an experience this summer with a guy I met on an app, and he was more invested than I was. We would talk on the phone and facetime and we met up once. I just found myself throughout the time feeling bored and just wishing I was back to being completely single and not talking to any guy. That’s when I knew I had to end it, because I just was not excited or looking forward to talking. When I ended it, he took it well but I could tell he still wanted to be friends, but I ultimately just had to cut it off completely. I feel so much more free now and I’m enjoying where God has me!

My perspective as a Christian man...
Background: I'm now 41 years old at the time I'm writing this. I have one 13 year old daughter. I've been single for probably close to 12 years and got saved in 2014/2015 (baptized in 2015). So, over that time I dated both as a secular person and as a Christian with much stronger values and completely different approach. I'm located in NorCal (other areas might differ in experiences).
Over the years I've tried just about every dating site/app out there. The ones that I used for some length of time and as a Christian have been eharmony, match, Christian mingle, Zoosk, bumble, OKCupid and playing around on fth a bit. I'm currently off all the sites.
I just finished one year on eharmony. I had many conversations of varying length. That entire time I only met one woman. She's amazing, intelligent and beautiful. However, she's also hundreds of miles away and between our respective situations and responsibilities it didn't appear to be the right fit.
On match a few years ago I met another amazing woman; successful, beautiful and really fun (she really could make me laugh). We dated a few months and there was long term potential there. I wasn't completely available at that time and I take the responsibility for that one ultimately not working out.
I just wrapped up bumble after a month. I only had one mutual match and they more or less disappeared. I did think the format of requiring women to make the first move could be advantageous for a man since it might help eliminate getting lost in the noise of messages from all the other men. I did this after finding out a female friend of mine found her fiancee there.
I had one date from OKCupid the last time I was there. The questions they have to answer there can help eliminate certain people, ie, I'd look for their response to questions like, "Is it necessary to sleep with someone before marriage?" I avoided all "yes" responses and hoped that those who replied "no' were truthful. These were all from women that checked the "Christian" box.
Christian Mingle didn't have many matches. Nothing ever materialized there.
Zoosk seems mostly like a hook-up site and a place to get scammed. I might be wrong, but that was my impression. I joined for a month and couldn't stand it after a couple days.
fth might be okay. I quit in order to eliminate distractions.
Most of these sites have some kind of way to search exclusively for Christians if it's not a trademarked Christian dating site/app.
All that said, use discernment, guard your heart and be prepared for the following if you choose to use any of these sites:
Prepare to be ghosted. Whatever the reason, whether intentional or just due to someone getting busy and other things taking priority, be prepared to not hear from someone again without an explanation.
Be prepared to have a hard time finding someone within a reasonable distance. I've had women contact me from not only hundreds of miles away, but from other states and even countries.
Be prepared to deal with "mark the box Christians." These are the ones who tell people they're Christian, but have no fruit in their life to show for it. If they don't explicitly say something about Jesus/God in their profile, pass them up. You're looking for a spouse, not to do some evangelism.
Be prepared for denominational conflicts. I've been flat out treated with meanness because I'm more towards the charismatic and practice our shared beliefs somewhat differently.
I think that about wraps it up. Whatever you do, keep your eyes on Jesus. I pray that this is helpful for someone and pray that all of you who are single find an amazing spouse with a relationship rooted in The Bible, obedience to God and filled with God's love.

This is the problem with society now, nobody knows how to talk with people face to face anymore, they would rather judge people on a phone or based on a profile and there is no way you can get a sense of how someone is just going off that. You need face to face interaction that doing through phones can't provide, it does not give you the same kind of connection as if you were right next to the person. It takes a long time to really get to know someone and commitment not everyone is willing to put in. People always say I don't have the time, but I mean at the end of the day if you are being honest with yourself that is an excuse. Just gotta make it a priority if its something you are serious about. I think you are a little bit too picky or stingy when it comes to your list of what you will accept and won't but that's just my opinion. What makes meeting people challenging and exciting is that everyone is different and comes with a unique set of qualities and traits based on what they have been through in their lives and who they are as people. Finding a partner is about accepting those differences in people coming together and loving the person for who they are as I'm sure they will love you back for what makes you unique. At the same time if you want to wait to have sex until marriage a guy you are going to be with has to respect that, so i get it from that point of view.
Very rarely are you going to find someone who is exactly the same as you though in terms of how they think and view things. Also I would not spend 2 hours with someone random on a phone, like you might as well go meet them if there is an interest to see what that person is like or if its just an act. Believe it or not its easy to get tired of hearing someone's voice especially if you aren't really that familiar or connected with them yet. Most dudes on dating apps feel like they have to make their profiles as if its a resume so girls can match with them and be called for an interview lol. Dating apps are dumb they should not be taken seriously at the end of the day for both males and females. Its you trying to prove your worth and who you are and that you would be a good fit to somebody you don't know is even worth it lol. Dating should be face to face plain and simple.
Being in a relationship is all about sacrifices and compromises for the good of the two of you being together, its about being unselfish. If you are not ready to do these things then its not the right time to date for you that is what it comes down to. Best thing to do in that case well if you have not found anyone yet is to continue doing all the things in your life that inspire you and get you closer to where you want to be, if someone comes along and wants to be a part of that then you can come back to the idea of wanting to date that person. Things should always be natural never try and force anything in life.
When girls ignore dudes on these apps, especially ones that mean you no harm. That's what can make them bitter and then start to become assholes who resent women and don't treat them well because they were hurt by so many. So when in doubt if you can its always nice to try and reach out or at least say something, it means a lot to men and is I can say speaking for men greatly appreciated whether you are interested or not right.

I agree with everything other than you calling her picky. (: She has to decide what's best for her & no one else.

    • @matthewr9471
      @matthewr9471 3 роки тому

@@candacedawn357 Okay that's cool and all but being picky sometimes makes you miss out on great ppl because you are so caught up on your list of what you will accept and won't instead of waiting to see what each person offers before shooting them down without knowing them really. I'm all for deciding what is best for each person I have to decide what is best for me too, however; in my case I wait to see what each person offers before making my decision. Girls and guys sometimes tend to judge a person before they know them because they don't fit their "ideal match" criteria. I guess my point is to give people a chance, get to know them more before writing them off you might be surprised you like them afterwards or not but you never know for sure if you don't give someone a chance to show you what they got. Don't just judge off appearance or an initial encounter I guess would be what I would tell her. Dig deeper people are too fast to say nope not for me to others these days. That's my only issue with ppl being "picky" and sticking to their "preferences" all the time with no exception. Everyone has pros and cons, there is nobody perfect in this world. So if people are waiting for that, it will never come. Sometimes you take the good with the bad if the good in someone outweighs the negative. Which then makes the person worth it at the end of the day no matter what you initially thought of them without really knowing them right.

Dating apps are not for everyone, for sure, and takes a huge amount of wisdom and patience. If the guy is in a rush, thats a big red flag. However, i did meet my boyfriend on a dating site after about a week of a free trial😃 but we emailed over a week (he was the only one where we messaged so seamlessly and could sense a connection even at that point; all other guys seemed forced, rushed, prideful etc)then texted, then talked on phone, 2 months before meeting in person at a church event. And it was great!! I wasnt afraid to ask hard questions, and that is key so you dont waste time. I saw from his profile that he valued Christ, and that was only further confirmed. Also, dont be afraid to ask to talk to their pastor if needed! Accountability is also better than a loner who does his own thing. Just give yourself time, learn about the other person, ask questions about the deal breakers, and dont settle for less, just because hes within your reach. Pray pray pray 🙏🏻❤️ and enjoy when youre single, because you have so much freedom to serve God. Better to be single than in a bad relationship or marriage, too. Wait for Gods best!

The minute he shared his views on sex, I would have ended the conversation. That’s a huge Christian standard. When he tried to convince you of his unbiblical opinion, that was another big red flag that I would not have let carry on for even a few seconds.
My concern about dating apps (even Christian) is the large number of sexual predators that escape the filters.
    Be careful, please!
