    That watch biography near the 6 o’clock is a pretty good read, although unfortunately let down by no mention of the power reserve, the titanium construction, or the fact it’s a destro.

    I've often thought that the natural location of a watch crown for a righty *should* be on the left of the case, because of the crown comfort reason, and because very few people do or should manipulate the crown while the watch is being worn. Wr have our crown placement backwards.
    In practice I do love 4:00 crowns a la Seiko. They just make so much sense.
    Great review as always! 👍

    Had a LHD for years. Love it. Everything about it.
    Cutout on clasp has never bothered me; it’s a tool watch.
    The lume is the best in the business, and I particularly like the fact that the bezel indices are also lumed.
    39mm Pelagos is too small for me, so LHD won’t be relegated to the safe anytime soon.

  • @Spleen214
    @Spleen214 Рік тому +3

    I’ve owned the LHR Pelagos for a good few years. Love it, I do agree that adjusting it takes a bit of getting used too, but I don’t even think about it anymore. I quite like that it seems to fly under the radar and isn’t instantly recognized when I’m wearing it.

    • @desireless4092
      @desireless4092 Рік тому

      I agree with you. I own the regular black, Peli is in this awkward position where it is not obscure but at the same time it is overlooked and flies under the radar. Yeah it's not dashing like SMP, but it fits my taste of a more mature looking, satin - matte watch with details that make my love it each time I glance to check time.

  • @anthonystevens8683
    @anthonystevens8683 Рік тому +2

    All good thoughts Jody, I can't really disagree with any of them... well most. I've had my LHD for some year now and for me it's my most comfortable watch on a bracelet, just (more later). Why did I choose the LHD I didn't hear anyone ask. Well, the RHD (black dial) looked just a tad sterile at the time and I preferred the slightly warmer markings. The RHD had 5 lines from some book written under the pinion where the top line of text on the LHD the name was in red reducing the perceived appearance of the sermon more to a slightly more manageable 4 lines. Finally I loved the numbered addition, the last three digits on mine when I was at the AD was 633, an old black and white WW2 film called "633 Squadron" was one of my late parents favourites. If I'm unsure what the day will throw at me quite often it'll be those comfortable pair of shoes called the LHD or a G-Shock but neither of those could be said as being super versatile watches. As per the end of the video for something smaller, thinner lighter and a bit more versatile there is the option of the Pelagos 39 that is only a smidgen less comfortable than my LHD and that now sits alongside my comfortable pair of shoes, the LHD.

    As a lefty who wears his watch on my right wrist, the 'sinister' placement of the crown i would definitely find appealing. Currently, all my watches are standard 'right' placement of both crowns and pushers. Inevitably this means I remove my watch before winding or resetting, or even activating pushers on a chrono. Given the option, i would certainly opt for a left-sided crown.

    • @elfie1340
      @elfie1340 Рік тому

      I second what you said. As a lefty who wears my watch on the right hand, this is the kind of watch that i have been waiting for. Its really hard to get watches that is meant for the right hand.

    The LHD is powered by a special version of the caliber MT5612. this caliber passed the COSC tests upside down, so as to reflect the positions in which this caliber will most often be in. This requires special regulation.

    • @8AP1
      @8AP1 Рік тому +1

      There is nothing really "special" with the 5612-LHD vs the 5612. The movement is the same, other than being rotated 180 degrees and a different date wheel to cater for rotation. The winding and time adjustment are also opposite directions to the 5612 due to the 180 degree rotation. If you rotate the watch to be a RHD, it will be the same setting the time/date as the RHD.
      180 degrees is not "upside down", and the timing is done the same regardless. Crown up/crown down positions are the only timings that will potentially change.
      The 5612 is a great movement. Very accurate and consistent.

    • @Geniusclicks
      @Geniusclicks Рік тому

      @@8AP1 doesn't the rotation affect where the crown goes?

    • @8AP1
      @8AP1 Рік тому +1

      @@Geniusclicks No. If you get any normal watch and rotate it so the crown is on the left, this is the same thing.
      What I'm getting it, is the LHD and normal movement are almost identical. If they wanted to maintain the same direction for winding, date and time set, they would have had to reverse the gears (which they didnt). That would have resulted in a LHD specific movement.
      Sinn have converted clients watches to LHD on demand before just by rotating the watch case and dial, then replacing the date wheel, which is essentially the same thing Tudor did with the 5612-LHD

Of course the Mudmaster can take it anyway, but it just feels more comfortable.

I am left handed but always wear all my watches on my left hand . I must admit that a turn the watch upside down to wind and set , it just seemed easier and never really thought about it . I have a 7.5inch wrist and like a large watch and love the look of it , so it’s a keeper ( you are right it’s not light)

    I really like the regular Pelagos, though I've not picked one up. I do have a 7-1/4" (18.4cm) wrist, so I can pull it off. I was fortunate enough to find one in the display at my AD a month or so ago, and tried it on. I'm a righty, and it just felt weird. I don't know, I couldn't get used to it and I didn't even adjust the time. My other issue is I don't like the creamy old lume look on such a modern looking watch. I do think Tudor should just add the red/black date and red line of text to the regular black Pelagos to make it a bit less basic, but please keep the bright white lume. I do want to try a Pelagos 39 on, but I really do wish it had a date.

    The slot in the clasp is a vault for dust, dirt, grease etc. Can't be too good for the mechanics inside

    There's something off with the 39mm Pelegos. I was a big fan of getting a LHD Blue Pelegos until you pointed out the awkward adjustment technique, so my ardor has cooled somewhat.
    Compared to my Helm Vanuatu, Pelegos is the only watch which could replace it for wrist time supremacy.

    I still wish Tudur would make a Pelagos 39 with date complication. If the could also incorporate the chapter ring of the regular Pelagos I think that would make my ultimate watch.

    Love mine. It's a surprisingly good looking tool watch for us with manly man wrists.

    I wear my watch on the right, so this is good for me. Stowa make a few right handers - I call them right, not left, handers. But Tudor/Rolex are not for me

    With the trend of watch makers doing a big and small version, I find they often miss out on the fact most people would prefer a watch somewhere in the middle. I think perhaps a 40mm or 41mm would work. Perhaps they could have made the larger model a 41mm and the smaller one 38mm? I have the same issue with the Tissot PRX.

    Doesn’t left-handed just mean that they put the movement and dial in upside down? Ha ha ha very innovative!

    I'm sure its designed to be worn on the RIGHT wrist, if you're left handed you wear it on the right wrist and the crown is in the same place as people who wear a normal watch on the left.
