Never seen a video on clothes like this. This might just be the kickstart to my learning-fold-painting-and-clothing-design-by-scramming-for-references arc
Marco Bucci has a good video on clothes as well!
Don't forget- exaggeration is key! When studying reference, do not emulate it perfectly. Change what you are seeing to get sharper/softer angles (situational) make the shapes bigger or smaller to balance out the weight of the drawing and remember that slants are your friends! Your drawing should be inspired by real life, not copy it
Great video over all just a little correction for beginners (at 14:22 ) to avoid confusion: Core shadow is typically found where the terminator is, representing the area of an object that is completely shadowed by the primary light source, receiving minimal bounce light. What NIRO is referring to as core shadow here is actually (🤓) ambient occlusion, which refers to the areas of folds and crevices where no light reaches at all, as opposed to core shadows, which may still receive some light from the sky or any surrounding atmosphere, unless you are in outer space.
Thanks sensei 🤓🤓
exactly what I wanted to write lol
Nice
The painting guide was honestly the best part of the video, I hope you do more stuff like this. While I understand the general process, I feel most videos on painting processes just hand wave a lot of the practical ways to do it and just go for a technical/academic approach.
14:43 ok no joke tho, over saturated is SO good! Might be harder to do but it’s definitely pays off
i like the dark one a lot as well
Same the orange tint reminds me of the artwork from Marvel vs Capcom 2
The light one gives off a cute art style too. I guess it just depends on the artist and which style they want.
@@alexket8403 all of your attention is drawn to the chest
You have no idea how many times I have searched for a video and painting style like this in the past! Like bruh..
I was desperate .This was really really helpful... I can't thank you enough
The hardest is the anatomy 😢
You'll learn it when you draw more and more
For me it took me 2 years to understand it
ASLFUA PFP SPOTTED YAYAYAYYA
Try drawing a car and find out.
I think I tend to overcomplicate how folds actually work when it’s actually really simple, which makes me feel like I’m doing it wrong because it’s too simple lol
Thank you algorithm for putting this in my front page. Instant follow on every social I use even though I can't draw
This was an overall great video. However, what was really lacking, and I think is the absolute key to making things look good, is painting the midtones. If you had explained how you paint the midtones in detail that would have made this an outstanding video.
Yes! Like, I know that there should be hard shadows and light, but what comes in between is the most difficult for me >
Thank you for this! Exactly what I've been needing! Very well organized, descriptive with various examples to show the process too. Keep up the great work!
Dropped at the perfect time! Thank you.

Love this! Great visuals and breakdown of information! 👏🏽
Wow, this is such a great tutorial
You teached not only about clothes, but also fundamental skills to art in general!!!
happy to see another upload from you
that's what i've been waiting for, thank you niroo🔥
this is so helpful! I've been struggling with drawing clothing for a while now, but this has helped a lot!
NIRO SUPREMANCY!!!
i love this! and btw stumbled upon ur channel through this vid and ur voice is so soothing to hear. i ended up playing most of ur vids while i draw, the information is not too overwhelming, pacing is good and relaxed, as well as digestible. a good change from listening to music! oh ya love the bgm too. will of course pay attention to the actual vids when i’m not drawing!
Super helpful as always. Particularly how to paint clothes. When I started my practice routine I also decided to draw at least one artwork focusing on clothing and folds per day. It was a struggle at first but it paid off after some time. I think the key to drawing folds is not too think too hard about fold types. There are areas where folds occure no matter what and others depending on the material or how wide or tight the clothes fit. I Particularly love drawing folds on leather gloves :3 Thank you for sharing this video and all the advice with us :3
THIS helped so much omg THANK YOU
as always, you are a godsent Niro!

i love watching 2d art tutorials and instead of actually learning 2d art i apply the techniques to my stylized 3d art that i use as a crutch because i cant draw
Genius
I SPEAK FOR A LOT OF PEOPLE WHEN I SAY THIS :
NIRO PLEASE DO A HAIR TUTORIAL SOMETIME... I LOVE THE WAY YOU DRAW HAIR AND WOULD LIKE TO DRAW LIKE THAT TOO
Thanks again
This is exactly where my weakness lies and I always have a hard time with clothes. Thank you very much for this video.
Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thats all I can say honestly.
Thanks I love uuuuuu
thanks!
teach us how to shade again! your tutorial was so helpful and it gives me hope for my future, but i am confused on the lighting part and the different types of shading.
So helpful! Can you perhaps clarify on the order of shading when painting? Do you do multiply/light first and then go over that with core shadows and midtones? Because that's what always makes me struggle :')
Finally, a fucking tutorial that actually explains everything relatively easily and goes straight to the fucking point.
You should make a tutorial on how to draw the anatomy of the body-/hj
Anyway this tutorial is rlly helpful. Thanks for delivering again!
i love u pls dont die
The reason why I even developed an interest in Fashion
first❤
I love u bro
Do you apply core shadows, midtonws and light all in the same layer? Or do you create a separate one for each step?? Also. Do you use blending modes for the core shadows, and midtones? Thank you in advance
Wow
the way you pronounce assume is adorable!! ASSHUMEE
Is that a Dutch a Dutch accent or something else?
Not that it matter ofc but its always a fun feeling to me to find something close to home + the chance to find you at a con near me or have local shipping costs

how do you pick the color to use for the terminator of your shadows?
I always thought drawing drip was always cooler than drawing the actual character

Cloth rendering tut nxt
From my understanding of Tension and Compression its basically "STAY OVER THERE!" and "GET OVER HERE!"
Can we pls have a cloth rendering tutorial
what buttons i have to press 2 flip the canvas in the middle axe like here in this video ?
Upload the painting process 😬
The areas you are illustrating as areas where the light doesnt reach is where Ambient Occlusion happens and are the darkest areas usually, depending on the material, when painting an object, not the Core Shadow as you say in the video. The Core shadow is the part with the darkest value of the object, after the Ambient Occlusion areas. The Core Shadow is located after the Terminator, which is the division of areas between the darkest light and the lightes darks. You can find this kind of information at pictures online it is not explicit knowledge. Other than that, the drawing part of your video contains some very good knowledge and is very anlytical!
Why is there a massive jump in the process just in the most useful/interesting part 😭 10:09
My question is where do you get all your references? because I do not have the best references on Pinterest and I would like to find the professional stuff.
So If anyone could enlighten me it would be much appreciated!!
😅😅😅
Just curious, do you use references for all your drawings?
7:39 not the guy above mikasa 😭
