Storm collectibles would be the perfect company to make this guy for sure
There's also Neca, but they most likely gonna make it similar to Mcfarlane's no posing Doom Slayer.
@@Shun_Kuto Neca was super down to do Doom Slayer before Mcfarlane got the license. Though it looks like that ended recently
Storm Collectibles should just grab any Videogame IP that they can. My Reptile figure is amazing and the reason I want more from the line.
@@georgemitri1171 Yeah, I saw their tweet years ago
That's what I thought, I customized my mcdarlane 2 years ago with this thought in mind lol
I’ve had a funny situation with this figure. I was really hyped for it, it got delayed again and again, and then, when it finally got released, people started to share some photos of it and it became clear to me that the thing is pretty horrible, so when I’ve got mine, I’ve never opened it and sold it right away. Funny sad story.
So McFarlane gives us a brick and Figma gives us silly putty, amazing.
Hopefully someone like 100Toys, or NECA, or Storm Collectibles gives us a proper figue
I like the Mcfarlane 1. Looks just like in the game.
I wish 1000toys would do this. They did pretty great with the Master Chief.
I would pre-order one by 1000toys day 1, their stuff is fantastic. To be fair though, this is the first Figma I've been seriously disappointed in for a while. It's like they tried to reinvent their engineering when they made this guy, for no reason.
you just reminded me of 1000toys Killy. Man, I wish they did a re-release...
@@Novapoid I mean there is mecari
Wow, the shoulder cannon broke so easily... Honestly even if the articulation turned out good (which it didn't) that was already a red flag for me. Thanks for the review, It's an easy pass after watching this.
I almost pulled the trigger on this one, because it is so beautifully painted and the new DOOM games are really great, but your review saved me... 140€ (?)
Thanks, Anthony :D
Way too expensive! Save your money.
The real price is ~$70, say thank you to your seller:)
@@Alex-fm9oj It's 120$ in the US, isn't it? Stuff is usually a little more expensive in EU. Currently it's 125€. If you see it for 70€ please tell me :D
@@tireddorian I got my on AmiAmi, but the figure is no longer available there. I guess, I would not buy this guy for 120 either)
Bro I can't let this dude slide with these horrible doom facts!! Did he say you get a cool gun! Bro that is the BFG wtf is wrong with you! Do your research.
I think for a figure in this price range he should all of his weapons from the game. He's missing a minigun/chain gun, a single barrel shotgun, an assault rifle, a rocket launcher, and the electric/plasma gun, there is also like a ballista weapon and a secret unlockable weapon but he should've come with more at that price tag
Yeah I definitely would have understood the price if it came with all that and probably would have bought it
Your channel's range of different figures for the last month or so has been amazing. Keep it up bro
After seeing this it really makes me appreciate my 25 dollar McFarlane classic Doomguy more. Sure his articulation isn't insane but he looks good, poses how I'd want him to, has the aesthetic I prefer for Doomguy, all at a fraction of the cost.
Compared to the original McFarlane fig it's got so much more articulation and doom guy isn't the most acrobatic character in the world so he doesn't need to do a whole lot
That's a damn shame. The proportions and price tag kept me away, and my worse fears came to light. Thanks for the review, Anthony
Actually, it's not such a bad figure when you hold it in your hand, not a masterpiece, but has really good articulation. I was skeptical too, but I changed my mind when I got it
@Alex If it didn't cost so much, I'd be willing to give it a shot. Alas, my MacFarlane Maurader will have to Duel other figures
@@Alex-fm9oj not a masterpiece for that price is an L
The Eternal & OG suit is definitely the best one, 2016 looks too generic to me. This figure is a mixed bag, I second the comment that said Storm Collectible should pick the license. Storm scale is perfect for 1:12 Doom Slayer, he's a chonky boi. I'm content with my custom mcfarlane for now. And Anthony, Super Shotgun and Combat Shotgun are his "normal" guns lol.
Id say my favorite suit design is the 2016 one for sure. It has that more modern look without being too much like the eternal one imo.
The second i saw that cannon pop off, all of my thoughts of maybe getting this figure vanished lol. I’ve heard people talk about how good the fig is, but i dont wanna take my chances and get burned like this. As much as this fig can be compared to an amazing yamaguchi or revoltech, they couldn’t be more different. I own 4 of the my hero figures from revo and they all make less aesthetic compromises while posing better and being less overly complicated. Thank you so much for this gift of a review and a good laugh after work
And the body proportion is so bad. McFarlane is still better in details and proportion but sucks in Articulation and paint. I hope NECA will do the definitive one 🙏
@@TheVidsky NECA most likely will when McFarlane drops the license,.
My slayer has a grey stripe on his visor and it bugs the hell outta me
The 2016 version is my favorite design
I think NECA would crush this figure if they made a version.
Like others have mentioned, I was debating getting this figure, so many thanks for the review.
Don't !! Wait for the Dark Horse figure of this guy
Mines shoulder cannon hasn't broken. I've been very careful because I know articulation joints can be a problem. Overall, I like this figure. For me it's was better than the McFarlane version and I've had a blast with it. I think 100toys would make the best version of Doom Slayer because they made one the best versions of Master Chief. So they are proven, but it actually could be MORE expensive which is always the case with 1000toys. Still for me this figure is an 8 on a personal scale. I don't have as many issues with the articulation. But I agree they could've made some better decisions
I'd hope it's better than a $25 figure.
I'll like to that
i was really hyped to see the review when i saw the thumbnail, now i am relieved my money is safe because of your review
the articulation is so bad it made me not even consider buying it, so thanks anthony for saving me from a headache
(favorite design is the classic one, i grew up playing those and that design is too iconic)
Surprised it didnt get a lower score.
Glad I watched this. I was on the fence about buying this figure, aaaand I'm no longer on that fence. Thanks, Anthony!
Saved myself $120 on this. Thanks Anthony.
I was just about to buy this but thank goodness I saw your review. Saved me 💵
It was my first and last figma. The knee joint immediately broke when I got him out of the box. It's a damn shame. I wanted a good doom slayer for years
Same here, my first and my last Figma from "Good Smile Company" 😆.
@@mtechcom4863 same here
4:45 "Tiny gun"
That's the Big F-ing Gun (BFG) LOL
Not gonna lie: This figure looks cool (at first glance, at least) but when you start to notice all the flaws, well... Thank you for this video! 😎👍
The last Figma I purchased was Pit from Kid Icarus a couple months back. Before that time, I haven’t bought a Figma since 2019. I only bought the Gaming ones like Nintendo and P5 but they seem more focused on anime characters, which I’m not too familiar with.
Its so weird that we still dont have a definitive DOOM Slayer figure. Its such a beloved franchise and my favorite game series.
I mean, from what I have seen Mcfarlane has a good Slayer?
I literally just got my figurine today and I just broke the shoulder cannon before I watch this video. Oh that’s so crazy mess.
That cannon snapping off is a certified Figmid moment
11:49 "floppy disaster" is what she said
Also, the “super tiny and realistic looking” gun is the new look for the BFG-9000
Been waiting on this review
I completely agree with your points, but I absolutely love this figure. So much so that I bought two.
The one I have on display is posed and I leave it alone - definitely some strange decisions regarding articulation , but you can get him into a lot of extreme stances with a bit of fiddling. It’s definitely not one I’d want to play with too much because it is fragile. It’s more like a revoltech figure in that he looks best from certain angles.
6:28 OMG!! NOOOOOOO
I'm personally glad I sold mine off before even opening the box, lol. For as cheap and limited as it is, I'm more than happy with the McFarlane Classic Doomguy on my shelf. And my answer to the QOTD is probably Quake 3's Doomguy, who's just called "Doom" in that game - it's an upgrade of the original look with some extra details here and there, and it incorporates the stomach window into the design, which I love. I enjoy the Eternal design, but I definitely agree with it being over-designed (most things are nowadays). Thanks for the review!
I looked up the price of this out of curiosity. Yowsa. That makes it sooooo much worse.
I was excited for this at one point. Then I saw the end result…
OG Doom Guy, with no bare stomach. I have the Gaming Heads KDiTD statue and love that thing. One of my prized statues.
You can disconnect the front of the belt parts for it to be a floating piece for the leg articulation to be useable, though I only found out about it from an official GSC blog that's only in japanese. The leg articulation with the belts off is actually super impressive but with your copy it seems it would be hampered by the loose joints. I can finesse the shoulders when taking a photos but the gaps makes it annoying.
Though I can deal with most of the issues here I can understand why a lot of people won't like it. I got wind of the equipment launcher breaking from japanese twitter users who got the figure early and I made sure to disassemble it with hot water and put it some silicone grease to ensure it wouldn't break from trying to swivel it (it was a pain to do but it works). Figma QC has been really bad for the past couple of years, I luckily had tight leg joints but got similarly loose torso joints, the stand also is loose even after tightening the screws.
As good as it looks it sucks I had to fix issues myself and it didn't come out of the box great. With this being $120 retail for the west that's straight up painiful. I got mine for like $85 from the pre order discounts shops do in asia and that is still a hard swallow. The only reason I got this was there was accessories that were actually adding value in comparison to other figma releases that literally just gives you a set of hands and 2 face plates and then charge you $75 to $100. 1000toys or Storm Collectibles would be our best bet for the best articulated Doom Slayer figure.
I think the belt thing isn't how it was intended to be used as it's not in the instruction sheet.
@@AnthonysCustoms this figure has additional joints in the hip, they increase range, maybe you need to use hot water to unlock them. The figure can even sit with foot on foot
The shoulder launcher broke on mine.
Never thought I'd see the day where a company would make McFarlane Doom figures look like works of art comparatively but here we are
Thank you for always being on the side of customer Anthony. Got this figure & while I agree with most of the flaws you point out, but at least it can pull off most if not all of his in game pose and the accesories are fantastic, looks good too imo. Unfortunately As a Doom fan, we were spread thin & mcfarlane is on a whole another garbage level, but I'm pretty happy gal in the end. Hopefully another company can pull off at least a near perfect one in the future. Keep on the honest review dear.
Oh boy here we go...
I had to get replacement parts from goodsmile on mine, they sent me a whole torso and the set of thighs because the joints were so Loose. I heard from other people and other reviews that they also had to get a replacement for the shoulder piece from breaking too. I do agree it looks very nice but I had to put mine on a very neutral pose to be safe. I did a 3d print chain gun to pose him with it but got scared something bad happens and removed it
He's so good and so bad at the same time.
Hope their new Samus will be much better.
I agree with everything you say, just want to mention I just got mine today, and has none of the loose joints like your copy. Everything else stands though. I'm scared to mess with the shoulder gun
5:22 Yea he does. “the heavy assault rifle” I wish he also came with it cause it’s a really great gun in the game. I also just love Doom Eternal and the whole doom franchise but I dunno about owning a Figma figure…
I was just looking at your last doom figure review.
Hmm I gotta say my favorite design is the DOOM 2016 design. The praetor suit just scratches an itch in my mind. The ThreeA figure, though horribly engineered, is amazingly well detailed and aesthetic
Aww, that's shame. 😔
I was really hoping this figure would be good. Because I despise McFarlane's version for its lack of articulation, and while this one definitely has more articulation by comparison. The problem is that the articulation is all wack. I'll be saving my money and waiting for a more competent company to take a crack at Doom Slayer. Good review, Anthony.
Didn't realize how funky the joints were on this. I pretty much pose my figures once and never touch them again. Not into the game, but this is probably the coolest looking sci-fi space marine out there. Don't regret my purchase one bit.
I wish this guy was like 70 bucks or a little more but it being on average 140 dollars for that many problems it’s just crazy
I hate hate hate that elbow design
Mine broke in the same place with the shoulder rocket, had Ami Ami send me a new one. I'm not real impressed with this figure either, paint and accessories are fine, however, trying to pose him is an exercise in frustration.
I dropped figma a while back, around the time they started pricing their figures like they were infused with fragments of the arkenstone. Unfortunately, seems SHF is going the same route with the recent Berserk, spiderman, and cooler releases. Hope I'm wrong.
Anthony, your review is fair!
I did preorder on July 2021 and I do see all the criticisms. I do have mixed feelings that developed overtime since some poses are way more difficult to do than it should and he can barely hold the weapons without both hands except for the Crucible Sword. The BFG is, by far, the worst one in the bundle since it’s far too heavy for its hands.
I didn’t break the Equipment Launcher on the back… yet. But the hips are indeed a little loose on my unit. Also I do hate how they designed the elbow covers. There’s no reason to put a peg and have it so easily detachable. It is flimsy. It is a consequence of the overdesign of both the action figure and the character itself.
That’s excluding some features that were highlighted in both the packaging AND the video they posted of the prototype. And they’re not present at all in the final product. It never was disclosed by Max Factory/GoodSmile and it’s awful.
As a fan of the game, I’m glad I got it. On paper and after posing, this guy looks wonderful and has a strong presence on the shelf. If I knew ahead of time about all of its issues, I would have made sure to cancel my order.
I do have a preorder for the upcoming Samus and I know that the previous ones have all been good. However, that Samus will be my last Figma and my expectations are much higher since the design is far more streamlined, simpler than any of her suits which will probably work better for posing and articulations.
The Doom Slayer was my first, but having such a mixed experience, when smaller figures are sometimes more fun to pose and have overall better quality in terms of articulations and joints, prove that bigger and more detailed doesn’t always mean better.
What a shame! The paint and accessories are so nice😢 you’re awesome Anthony 😘😘💯❤️❤️❤️
They made his model an articulation in a way where you can pose them anyway and it looks good
Incorrect
No joke I received Doom Slayer the other day and the same thing happened to the shoulder cannon on the figure. Smh
Absolutely loathed this when it was announced because of the sculpt and engineering, so it's sort of cathartic to learn that it's trash overall. On the other hand, I love this design and the game so it's a real blow to see that the only two options are this and McFarlane, customs aside. A tiny, tiny part of me was hoping for a pleasant surprise but so much for that. Wish Storm would take a shot.
Appreciate the review.
Funny how SH figuarts are light years above figma on their engineering and honestly, price for quality. Figma I feel like I’m paying for paint, detail, and accessories but not really getting an “action figure” to modern day standards. Their giant disc joints stand out to me so badly nowadays
I got mine today from BBTS. I have other figma figures before but I was shocked at how well it's made after removing it from the packaging. The details in the sculpt is incredible. It has some heft too at 190 g in weight. I wished there was a way to hold all his weapons on the figure though (spoiled by G.I. Joe Classified Series). I pose him with chainsaw in right hand and sword in left hand with the extended blade. It's really an amazing figure.
the og one had the stomach open cause it was damaged by a demon.
just proves how much stronger his newer armor is...
Wow, you can tell good smile doesn’t care about their products anymore! It really seems they make either popular characters or what other people are making like Tamashii but make them with such awful quality
I bet mcfarlane one is looking pretty good now
no. its still bad.
5 out of 10, jesus, that's why I watch your videos. You're actually objective. Best reviewer out there.
thanks a lot
anthony ... since you say it's that bad, mail it to me, i'll whip it into shape.
Mcfarlane may not have a lot of detailed but it durable and sturdy and cheaper usually 20 bucks. I recommend drill a little hole on where it broke put super glue and use a toothpick to increase the bonding strength.
The over-engineering is to justify the horrible price XD
dawg, your video saved me. thank you
Happy to help
I really want to get a good doom guy/slayer but ig I’ll end up making my own some day
Like the “tiny” gun😂😂😂😎👍🏼
Pretty happy with the McFarlane Classic Doomguy. Obviously McF has issues as always, and especially Doomguy is limited in articulation, but it’s classic Doomguy and he looks badass. Especially after I cut the meathook off the Super Shotgun to make it look more classic
Wait and see, brother.
Just copped mine for $30! It will be a nice addition to my collection 😎
you might have a bootleg.. not that it really matters with this one
Ayy 35m on release figma doomslayer is goated
money saved!
That piece broke for me too, the exact same way.
Great review, I've had this since released, and while it does look great; the joints do kinda get loose, and I'm supposed to have another one one the way. Overall, it's "meh" and I never got the chance to get the McFarlane one.
Also, I dont mind revoltech
So it's "meh" but you bought another one ? omg.......
@LoganX69 yeah so what? There are figures I thought that are "meh" that I bought.
Saved me 120 thanks brother🙏
Happy to help
What a shame. I was really looking forward for this figure. Good thing it was delayed again and again so I ended up cancelling my order
QOTD : I like the eternal design but my favorite has to be doom guy from doom 2016!
6:21
This piece...
This little piece didn't came in the box...
🥀
Doom Eternal for sure.
Figma is just a shadow of what it used to be
Ps. Finally a review done not by a figma fanboy that only praise the figure when everyone can see its a mess
I had a few "old" Figma figures, it was always overpriced shit
It looks like Figma struggles when making figures of buff characters
It will be great only if the arms were bulkier
I'm glad I cancelled my order on this.
I'm not a doom eternal fan so I could care less if any of these doom figs end up good or not. It is funny though how like 15 years ago this would have been considered 1 of the greatest figures ever made lol. That being said generally I love figma for the most part, ghost of tsushima Jin Sakai is a prime example. Truly beautiful and overall very well executed samurai figure
Let’s just pretend he has a tumor growing on both of his arms and that should fix the issue.😂
I have also passed on this figure the arm and shoulder joints are a mess. Figma hasn't evolved just like Revoltech didn't evolve either.
By the way you didn't even mention how small and disproportionate are the hands 😅
The whole figure is disproportionate
I just reviewed mine from BBTS w/o watching your review since I was pre-ordered from when it first came out and mine broke as well with ZERO pressure at the ELBOW joint ... so I spent the next 12 hours pinning and epoxy-ing it back together .. if you want to see that HIGHLY compressed process to fix it you can ... but yeah this thing is HOT GARBAGE.. I think your 5 out of 10 is rather generous lol ..thanks for the review .. though it re-affirms to me that this is a trend with FIGMA and I will stay as far away from that trash as possible.
the paint detail got it the 5
This tells me we both ordered this from BBTS.
I guess, it’s better to buy McFarlane one. I’m still think, which one to buy, but, guess, McFarlane is better
Finally!
Wow, so glad I watched your review. The over engineering is enough for me to say NOPE! Especially that gappy neck design! UGH! And the QC, from what I've heard around the1/12 collector's block is a mixed bag of... "it's not so bad" and "why!?" Again, thanks for the honest review. Sigh, I was really gunning to get this!
Happy to help
Sh figuarts should've made it
The Mcfarlane 1 is the better 1 for me. Just like its look much more.
i was immediately put off by the brass paint they chose for his gauntlets and boots when they should be the browns, greys and greens of the rest of him. what a bizarre, sad, terrible miss.
I had a feeling you'd hate the articulation and it's definitely weird but it works the minute you start posing it. Looks like you got fucked by the QC gods though because the articulated belt sections you didn't even mention look stuck in place.
I think the worst part is the fact that this is still probably the best doom slayer figure out there. (at least to my knowledge)
I want a good classic Doomguy
@@Albino_Basilisk Mcfarlane with a little bit of custom paint is passable I might say.
