Wow this was 29 years since the very first time they acted together. As of 2019 it’s been 50 years. Things like this don’t seem so long ago until you start adding up the years. Rest In Peace to the both of them.
If I remember correctly, this Movie didn't get the anticipated number of viewers that it was supposed to, it did wind up in the top 20 for the week though. I think many viewers thought it would naturally air on the CBS Television Network, instead of ABC. But, this is now a collectors piece, it's now over fifty years since the first pilot episode aired in 1970. And, if you think of how this half hour sitcom looked in comparison to what was still on the air, left over from the 60's, and there were a few shows that lasted in to the 70's. The Mary Tyler Moore Show was a brand new concept.
I remember being quite disappointed with the reunion show. They didn't really seem all that nostalgic about who they used to know, their families, there old jobs or apartments. Mary didn't mention Lou, Murray, Ted, Georgette, Sue Ann or Phyllis. Rhoda didn't talk about her first marriage to Joe, Brenda, Ida, Martin, Gary, or Benny or even Johnny Venture! They also could have maybe had a couple of the old characters do a little cameo. Maybe a hint of the Rhoda theme could have been used.
It's good movie, but why wouldn't Mary or Rhoda mention anyone else on the show even once?? It would have been nice to hear the two talk about Ted, Murray, and Sue Ann
Rhoda DID mention her Mother once! and Mary's mother was mentioned! But I always wished there would have been one line comparing that creepy Anchor lady to Ted by saying "She's worse then Ted! She actually makes him look considerate!" and one in the scene with the doorman where Rhoda says " Well Mare, Your doorman is WAY better than Carlton was!" But Mary's bad Party's were mentioned and WJM as a whole! I liked it even with some things missing!

I liked it. I would've loved to see it become a new series.
They just belong together, as friends.
The whole movie is great it's up on UA-cam
This is a good movie. Would have been neat if it ended up a series but oh well. At least we have the movie to enjoy!
