What's your favourite Valerie Harper movie or TV performance?

The Rhoda episode where she decides at the spur of the moment to go to Paris by herself for the weekend.
She says that she had always wanted to go, but no one else ever offered to go with her, or any man to take her, so she wasn't going to wait any longer and she just went...
Loved the scenes of her walking around "Paris"
I've only watched a handful of Rhoda episodes, which I can't really remember, but I will never forget that one.

She's so beautiful and because she was a comedienne, she never truly got the recognition for her understated early nineteen seventies beauty. Hard to believe she's no longer with us. So many great memories obviously from MTM and Rhoda but she made a number of tremendous television movies in the seventies particularly "Night Terror" and then there was of course her unfortunately truncated work on her short-lived sitcom "Valerie". I still remember her in one episode teaching Jason Bateman how to dance the Charleston. I also love how she greets Cavett with the traditional Rhoda-ism, "Hiya"!

Yes, in August of 2019, a week after she'd turned 80.
Four years earlier -- a couple of years after she'd been diagnosed with brain cancer (by which time she'd already beaten lung cancer) -- she was in a production of 'Nice Work If You Can Get It' at the Ogunquit Playhouse in Maine, but wasn't feeling well a few performances in and was briefly hospitalized. She was replaced for the remainder of the production by Brenda Vaccaro.
Interestingly (in view of this clip), another cast member was Sally Struthers.
I'm sorry she's gone too, but admire how she kept fighting and doing what she loved to do as long as she could.
There are other good interview clips of her online as well.

Rhoda and Phyllis did not get along with one another and both used snide jokes when they talked to one another on the show,
but in real life Valerie and Cloris were best of friends, saw each other on a daily basis and their friendship that lasted their whole lives and only ended when Valerie Harper passed away.

Rhoda and Phyllis were not good friends and would use sarcastic remarks on one another, but behind the scenes Valerie and Cloris were life long best friends.
They saw each other on a steady basis They would even discuss rolls they were offered and discuss how the character should be played.
Leachman made herself available to Harper in her last years. Their friendship ended when Valerie Harper passed on.

I think Dick was uncomfortable interviewing women that he perceived as less than his equal (IQ wise). Or, instead, maybe he felt threatened because he knew the woman knew more than he did. Not sure. In both Valerie Harper interviews he failed. I sense a lack of respect on his part. I wonder why.

She's fantastic & gorgeous. Sally was decent but just road off the coatails of a gargantuan smash (& cast)! Again, was FINE but really didn't exude much star power or true acting quality.
Simply recited brilliant writing effectively & ended up a one trick pony (& I love Sally as a person). Valerie was right- but some old 70s shade there, wow lol. FORGET it if this happened today! 🤯 Looks like this was a 'story' back then.
