I think,Kris is in the history books,as the greatest American poet....especially,once you hear, read and understand the story, that's behind each song...I'm sure, each story is very unique and powerful...
Damn right! Kris Kristofferson is one of the best songwriters ever! Especially the most melancholy. I didn’t know he played the harmonica! I love him even more!
A person who hears this song for the first time in 2020 will be knocked upside the head by its greatness. Just as people have been for the last half century.
My absolute favorite songwriter of all time. This was one of the first songs I learned on the guitar back in 1971. I still sing it and have never gotten tired of it. Kris Kristofferson is a genius when it comes to songwriting.
@@mrevert47 Janis recorded this song shortly before she died and it became a major hit for her. It was written by Kris Kristofferson. He also had his own recording of the song which received a reasonable amount of country airplay. My favorite version was by Country artist Roger Miller.

This is my favorite Kris Kristofferson recording of this song, the stars were aligned this night. Truly B-E-A-utiful! And a standing ovation, exactly what the mans life and deeds have earned.
When Kristofferson sings, maybe you don’t think ‘what a great voice‘ but he transcends that and takes you there to the heart of it. And you think ‘what a great bloke, what a great song‘. You don’t often improve on a Kristofferson song, but Janis certainly gave it a good kicking, bless her. And she changed the line in the second chorus to ‘Nothing left was all he left for me‘. Brilliant.
I think this great song will remain in the Top Three songs for many folks across the whole wide world. Thank you Sir and I am pleased to say that I grew up with songs like these. What a song !!!!
I think that he once said, after Janice recorded it, that it was her song, no longer his... he felt that she had done such a fantastic job on the song that it belonged to her...

Kris" Kristofferson💚💚Mind-blowing! 👉😍💓🌹 Lyrics: Busted flat in Baton Rouge, headin' for the trains, Feelin' nearly faded as my jeans. Bobby thumbed a diesel down just before it rained, Took us all the way to New Orleans. Took my harpoon out of my dirty red bandana And was blowin' sad while Bobby sang the blues, With them windshield wipers slappin' time and Bobby clappin' hands we finally sang up every song That driver knew. Freedom's just another word for nothin' left to lose, And nothin' ain't worth nothin' but it's free, Feelin' good was easy, Lord, when Bobby sang the blues, And buddy, that was good enough for me, Good enough for me and my Bobby McGee. From the coalmines of Kentucky to the California sun, Bobby shared the secrets of my soul, Standin' right beside me through everythin' I done, And every night she kept me from the cold. Then somewhere near Salinas, Lord, I let her slip away, She was lookin' for the love I hope she'll find, Well, I'd trade all my tomorrows for a single yesterday, Holdin' Bobby's body close to mine. Freedom's just another word for nothin' left to lose, And nothin' left was all she left to me, Feelin' good was easy, Lord, when Bobby sang the blues, And buddy, that was good enough for me. Good enough for me and Bobby McGee.

Eine sehr, sehr traurige Version dieses Songs. Man spürt die Hoffnugslosigkeit, die Traurigkeit. Auch ich werde traurig dabei,
It's what it means to be an American. Long live the Republic!
A very sad version of this song. One marks the hopelessness, the sorrowfullness. I even been sorry when listening.
Kris is more of a poet. That's what makes his songs so great. What a talent.
RIP Kris! Say hi to Johnny and all the other greats that have passed 🥲
God bless you Mr. Kris Kristofferson. YOU were one of the greatest musicicans ever. Thank you for all.

Joe Parks certainly one of the best for sure. I don’t think he’s received the accolades he should have for his singing, writing and acting talents.
Him, Dylan, and Prine are high on that list
